So based on the recent reviews, the Samsung Note 10.1 is almost a turd of a device. Previous turds that I was excited about were Asus Transformer Prime, Acer 700 and Transformer Infinity....all were mega turds.
Now to upcoming tablets, Sony Xperia tab is supposed to come next month and Archos Gen 10, announcement later this month. If these two turn out to be turds...well then Androids tablets have been given enough chances.

It has mediocre built quality, multitasking is laggy, interface also lags with too much content on the screen and the battery life isn't great even with a lower resolution screen. And it's priced too high, $550 for 32gb.how did they screw it up? the need a niche for expensive tablets and that could have been it

So what is the reason that no OEM can make an Android tablet worth buying.
I've looked at Samsung, Sony, Asus, Acer, Archos, Lenovo, others....even god damn Dell. Not a single company has managed to put out a tablet that's worth spending money on.
No wonder MS themselves are making their own hardware, these companies are useless.

I owed the Transformer Prime, ICS was great on it, you can even put Jelly Bean on it, the interface or the apps were not the issue at all. Asus released a broken device, the wifi was weak, even weaker with bluetooth enabled, gps was broken, web browsing was awful due to Asus putting in the cheapest flash memory they could find, making the entire tablet slow whenever the software wrote anything to the disk...so when the web browser did caching it would freeze as it couldn't write fast enough to the disk.OK, so let's say BOOM, manufacturer X creates the greatest tablet from the perspective of hardware. Really high DPI IPS display, super thin and light, solid build, high end specs and fantastic battery life.
None of that changes the software. THAT'S the real problem with android tablets, and at least for the forseable future, will continue to be.
The Verge said:Google Maps for Android is getting a handful of minor (but useful, as always) improvements today, the primary of which concerns public transit. The updated app (version 6.10) has an updated transit layer that allows you to specify which modes of transportation you'd like to show up on the map. This means that you'll now be able to just have subway lines appear without a tangle of bus routes cluttering the display. The options mimic the public transit choices that were added to directions earlier this year you get to choose from train, bus, tram, or subway and are available in the close to 500 cities (and over 1 million stations) that now have transit schedules in Maps. Additionally, station pages have been given a visual overhaul that more clearly shows which transit lines stop there, how far other stations are, and upcoming departure times.
Outside of public transport, one nifty new feature is that searches for cities or postal codes will now show boundaries on the map to show exactly where one city or ZIP code ends and where another begins. Lastly, the My Places page has been given a bit more information, and the Location History page now contains a few more interesting tidbits of where you frequent should you choose to enable the tracking feature.
The changes are coming via an update to Google Maps for Android today, and while Android users will be glad to get these minor changes, iPhone and iPad owners will, of course, miss out especially when Apple's own mapping solution replaces Google's in iOS 6.

Then they released the Transformer Infinity, they included a high resolution screen, a faster processor....but still used slow memory didn't increase the battery capacity, so now the battery life sucks AND its still slow when writing to disk.
Fuck Asus, luckily I was able to return it to Best Buy after 8 months for store credit.
If that's the case, why not give the N7 a shot. I'm hearing fantastic things as far as performance is concerned. You have no issues with the tablet app ecosystem on android, so outside of maybe a creaky screen frame and smaller form factor, its ace.
1680x1050? This is 2012Hmm, I was thinking it would be a pentile 1680x1050 screen. A 800p non-pentile screen would be acceptable too I suppose.
7 inch is too small, 10+ inch is what I'm looking for.If that's the case, why not give the N7 a shot. I'm hearing fantastic things as far as performance is concerned. Anyone have the Atrix HD? I'm torn between that and the One X. I'm only considering the Atrix HD because the One X only has a non expandable 16g hd.

Remember NVIDIA's Tegra 3 only has a single channel memory interface, so frequency is the only option for increasing memory bandwidth. The increase in bandwidth does make scrolling and most UI interactions fairly smooth, although you will see dropped frames from time to time. I must say I'm fairly impressed by how well ASUS/NVIDIA were able to pull off smoothness without a significant hardware update. It's worth pointing out that the experience is far from perfect though. Even ICS is rough around the edges when it comes to delivering consistent UI performance on a tablet. Google is expected to address this with Jelly Bean but it's something to keep in mind for those buying in the near future. Granted by the time the Infinity is actually available, Jelly Bean may have already launched. As ASUS is widely expected to be a launch partner on Jelly Bean, I wonder if that means TF Pad Infinity owners will get a swift update.
nice, someone posted this!So now...I want an S3...

Google Is Gearing Up To Finally Introduce Play Store Gift Cards

Gift cards and a wishlist on the horizon for the Google Play Store? Sounds good to me!
The Nexus thread is full of people saying they have gotten bogus machines they've had to exchange. I'd hardly call the N7 a savior.
There any reason why the past few days my maps app has been the top battery user at 43%? My phone has been dying quicker and I keep finding maps at the top until I force close it...
Anyone here? Every day this week maps has been over 40%, but it's not even listed in running services. No idea what's up, and why it just started this week...
what are you running? They just had an update last night, that help at all?
yeah its odd that it just started, did you turn on location sharing? Could be something hung there... do you cache tiles? Just throwing out ideas, i have no idea why it would just happen
Imageshack is banned newbie. And here are the upcoming Sony Xperia tablet and Archos Gen 10.
Sigh, just go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1762902
