Went out buying a new phone yesterday.
Was set on a Nexus 5 or Galaxy S4 (M8 and GS5 are too expensive).
Came home with a LG G2. Wow, for the price it offers a lot. Really like the screen.
Any new tablets coming out these days? Is Nexus 10 still the best one?
Maybe she should try Hangouts for texting. She needs to enable that send group text as MMS button.
I'll have her try Hangouts for texting, I think that was an option. So in hangouts there is a send group text as MMS?
The default messaging app didn't have any check boxes, which is weird.
Nexus 10 is far from the best one, it is from 2012 and long out of date. Rumor is Google is working with HTC on a new Nexus 8.

I just wish google makes nexus 6 waterproof. I also wish they make nexus mini, like moto g for exampleI hope
A) The G3 has a fantastic camera
and
B) Google doesn't gut it when they make the next Nexus
Downsides to the G2 would be things like the LG skin, the screen size (if 5.2" bothers you), the rear mounted buttons, the build quality.

Wow Google is going to have to come up with another name to call the Nexus phone line because if they continue with ehay they are doing today they will soon have a phone called the Nexus 7.I just wish google makes nexus 6 waterproof. I also wish they make nexus mini, like moto g for example

Or they just call it the same thing twice. Like the Nexus 7.
This what you mean?
That's how it worked with apps like Handcent before Android officially supported group MMS. That's really strange that the S5 is doing it.That top option wasn't there. We did the factory reset and now it is working...sort of.
When someone in the group replies, it goes to a separate 1 on 1 chat, to download and then appears in the group chat after a few minutes.
Glad to hear this from someone else, Franco's N7 kernel stopped working well for me around the 4.4 release. I've left it on stock rom and stock kernel ever since.People actually use Hangouts? That's news to me.
I wish there were better kernels for the 2013 Nexus 7 (flo). Franco's is buggy as fuck and nearly bricked my N7. Elemental X is decent but hasn't been updated in a month and you can only configure it in Recovery mode. I'm really spoiled by KTweaker on my S4. Ktoonsez went all out, balls to the wall and the extra mile with his. It comes with a dedicated config app and monitoring app, the ability to enable OTA updates and even download other users custom settings , including the dev's very own. The amount of customization and shit you can change is insane. It's really easy to use and can essentially be set to auto pilot and do all the complicated and risky stuff for you.
I haven't seen other devs do this much.

"The Nexus (phone)"?They never actually used just Nexus as the name. I bet they go with that at some point.

Hangouts is amazing and the only correct choice.
Android app is gud, Chrome extension is fantastic. The only sensible cross-platform, full-featured, well-designed option.

Not all of them, so what's to stop Google from renaming the Nexus phones? The Nexus line is roughly named after the screen size, not in sequential numbering (like the galaxy series is).
Nexus 4: 4.7"
Nexus 5: 5"
Nexus 7 (2012): 7"
Nexus 7 (2013): 7"
Nexus 10: 10"
So if the next phone is to retain a 5" screen, I'd hazard a guess that it will still be called Nexus 5.

The fuss is that it's a solid, well rounded app that not only handles your SMS, MMS and group texting but also has a cross platform (Android, iOS, PCs) online chat with group video calling capabilities.I use Textra.
Trying out Hangouts and don't see what the fuss is all about. It's nothing special imo. I do wish it had a dark theme however.
soo... i'm looking to get an Android phone and looking at the Nexus 5.
Main reasons being:
vanilla android installation; i'd like to avoid the hassle of manufacturer and carrier additions
$400 sounds good next to $700 iphones.
that being said, i haven't waded into the android waters so I wanna ask if there other phones I should consider?

How do you feel about the size?
If the message has been sent the time and date is displayed below it, and the place the recipients avatar is at is where that person has last seen your messages. No delivered status I think though.i like hangouts, but layout is confusing.
Contacts now are better, but still a mess. Not for me, but for the casual user, like my mother, especially if using hangouts as sms app too.
Btw, is there a way to know if a message has been delivered?¿ like whatsapp's double check

huh? Franco's kernel has been working great for me. My battery life improved a lot from the bulletproof rom
that's not really what we were talking about though...
Seems like it was to me, you guys were talking about how mini phones aren't the same specs as their larger counterparts except for Sony. I was just saying that Motorola also made a smaller device with the same specs as its bigger phones.I'm just pointing out that the g2 mini and the moto x have the same screen sizes, yet no one would logically consider the moto x to be 'mini'. I'm not sure what your point is here...
I hate cases, never understood the point unless you're really clumsy. I don't drop my phone, don't drop yours. Not trying to be arrogant here, so I hope no one takes it that way.How many of you guys use cases? I ordered a Nexus 5 since I've had some issues with my Xperia Z, had a few cases but I always end up going back to using the phone naked. I'm debating getting cases for the Nexus 5 but I always get annoyed at the extra bulk most cases add onto the device, thus I go back to just using the phone without one.
I also don't use a screen protector because I don't see the point. Never had issues with my HTC Legend, S3 or Xperia Z.
I've got Axis, Circlons, Click UI, Lumos, Nox, Tersus, Umbra and Vintage installed.Submarino Conversível;109618351 said:Can anyone recommend me some icon packs (paid or free)?
Seconded. G2 is still easily one of the best phones out there in every aspect. Fast, great camera, amazing screen and great battery life. LG skin is ugly but is blazing fast and incredibly feature rich. KitKat helped that a little bit at least. How about the LGG2? It's big, affordable and sexy.
