Like what? Most of the things you may want are already apps.I was hoping to see some cool new uses for it.
good to see another GR native around these parts!
I'm pretty disappointed with the app selection the store has. I know it's just a watch, but I was hoping to see some cool new uses for it.
You know when you browse through the app store and you go "wtf I had no idea I needed this" at some random app sitting off to the side? I was hoping to get something like that after it being out for a bit. Haven't had that yet.Like what? Most of the things you may want are already apps.
The only app we need is Tamagotchi and we're good.
Seems awesome! I'll look into it. Definitely something to tinker with through time. Anybody here use it pretty consistently?
Enjoying the "Spring"?![]()
Wait after IO.What's the best Android Wear watch?
Wait after IO.
I'm back on android myself, looking forward to the 2nd gen Moto. When is IO?Yeah I'm hoping for a big jump in hardware and software quality and features with the second gen.

Yeah, you were here for the one week it was pretty cool spring. It's now back in the 30s. Excellent timing!I've lived in Florida for the past two years, but I visit at least twice a month. Was just in GR the 4/10-4/12 and it was actually nice, hit 69 or so!
Other than some software tweaks or watch designs, both of which would be doable on the current platform, I'm not sure what people are hoping for from a V2?
Current android wear is fast enough, responsive, good battery life. New update pushes apps more to the front. Maybe they'll add a soeaker and allow you to make silly phone calls?
Let's be real bro the batteries in these watches suck hard with heavy usage. I want it to last at least 2 days,

Nah I'm good, my Moto 360 is going to have the WiFi feature 😊Buy a GWR then.

Man, reading this thread title back then and now is pretty much what I should have done when jumping into smart wear technology.
I've had my G Watch since day one and have still yet to see any reason why anyone should get a "smart" watch. I was really looking forward to the fitness aspects that Wear could make use of, but there aren't many apps that take advantage.
As an early adopter I knew what I was getting into and even with the launch of the Apple Watch I've still yet to see any real reason why anyone should own a "smart" watch, but as a fan of tech I like what Apple is doing bringing attention to smart wear and can't wait to see what Google brings up at I/O.
Doesn't the GWR also have a dormant wifi chip?
Wi-Fi is more than just a chip, and unfortunately some OEMs didn't pack an antenna.

Battery is fine and the 360 will have wifiI personally don't think we're getting a significant update to wearable hardware this year, so I'm diving in now. I can get the black steel 360 for about the same price as an LG Watch R + replacement metal band, so this update has made me consider that now. Bugger.
That black bit at the bottom though.... Yeesh. And the battery life.
I'm ordering tomorrow and I have no idea which one to get now. Leaning towards the LG because of a sweet blue Milanese loop band I can buy for it which apparently doesn't fit on the 360, but it's hard. If the LG had WiFi I'd be on it now.
EDIT: or of course wait for the moto 360 2. The rumors keep pointing at the same spec as the other watches with the SD 400, but no stupid black bottom bit and of course, WiFi.

We are a month away from IO. You've waited this long. Why not wait a little longer? Yep. Don't worry. You aren't alone. I almost bought a 360 last week until I got some sense back.Stop speaking sense AJ godammit.
It's true though. I don't think LG are going to update though since the Urbane is almost out but I may as well see if Moto get it together first.
this bloody thing is constantly kicking into priority notification mode with the little star on the screen. Even if I haven't touched either phone or watch. Hopefully either 5.1.1 on the watch or 5.1 on the phone (eventually) will sort it.
how does the watch get updates anyway? Through the phone app or directly?
So who's going to guinea pig the LG G Watch Urbane. It looks really nice.

It's an LG G Watch R with a fancier case. There's nothing we don't already know.
I still maintain the fancier part is debatable. The R is plenty fashionable, just more sportswatch and less style watch. But yeah, aside from WiFi support it should be identical in battery and performance, so there's nothing really to test there.
Wait a month and see what else gets announced. If you have a 360 or G Watch R, I'd wait at least another year before upgrading to a newer model, at that point there should be a decent uptick in battery performance and overall hardware I would imagine.
To be fair, I don't really know how the 360 battery life works out irl, might be worth an upgrade if it's not sufficient for you.
It is literally a reskin. 360 should last you a day after the updates from what I've read, no idea if it takes a hit now you can use WiFi though.

But yeah, waiting. Been looking at the Apple Watch topic and even though I think it's ugly, I think I need to wait for NFC payments to be standard in Android Wear too. Seems to be the only feature that has that Wear is missing.
The Urbane LTE actually has this with LG's own software instead of Android Wear and a few other cool features, but lol at the size.

won't you need to wait for NFC payments to be standard in android first? Isn't google pay/wallet basically not used anywhere?
In the UK I'd be better off sellotaping my NFC debit card to the back of my phone![]()
Actually Barclays a year or so ago sent me a tiny duplicate of my debit card that was basically just the chip - specifically for people to stick on the backs of their phones.
