Android Wear |OT| 2nd Gen is Here

hope the 360 2 has nfc, would love for that to work with android pay. g watch r looks pretty sexy in these up close pics though. i think it looks better than the urbane to be honest.

So apparently Amazon is selling theor phone at 60 percent off so I'm thinking about taking the plunge because my current phone vexes me something fierce.
Problem is I have a G watch and while I have seen posts from reddit and other places stating it wont work because the phone used jelly bean.
However very recently they supposedly got an update to kitkat but ive only found one post, on amazon no less, stating android wear works now but thats just a single post. Anyone here have an idea?

Aw Yiss. My favorite Watchface after Pac Man.

anyone know what is the shortcut to turn off the watch? every time I long press the button , it just goes to the Settings menu

LG Watch R is hold the button for a very long time until you get a long vibration and stop pressing at the end of that. Don't hold any longer or it'll restart.

Ever wanted to initiate chats from your Android Wear device in apps like Hangouts, Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, etc?

Check out my new app, Touchless Chat. IT works on Android Wear!

Let me know how it works for you :)

Awesome gonna check this out. Just got my LGGWR (well, I had it then I realized my phone was too old to work with it so it just sat around until i found a good deal on a new phone) and this was the #1 disappointment with the watch. Considering it's just a tool to control your phone, there's no reason it should be missing this feature.

Damn, keep hearing that the first charge on the Watch R depletes quickly for some reason, but this is ridiculous.

Man this is completely pointless, but I do like it.

Yeah! My watch stayed at 100% for like 2 hours and I was super impressed. Then it just died. I thought I bricked it somehow. Turns out the first charge (yes I actually made sure it was charged) just dumps out of the battery for some reason.

nice I have that watch, i turn it off every night and it has lasted me a few days lol

People with the LG G Watch R, or other watches with OLED screens: Has anyone had any problems with screen burn-in? I've read some horror stories online, but I feel like it's probably not as big of an issue as it seems.

I was sold on the G Watch R, then started doubting myself and decided to pick up the Sony SW3, but now I'm leaning back towards the R. Sigh.

People often don't realise that most oled burn-in is temporary and resolves itself in a few days tops.

Just change your watchface every few weeks (which you will do anyways) and maybe use Slumber when charging and you're good to go.

Finally got the damn update on my moto 360. My battery is low so I'll install when I get home.

Edit: The 5.1 update looks freaking sweet.

I have both and far prefer my sw3.

I have both and far prefer my sw3.

You mind elaborating on why? I know that's kind of an annoying question, but I've only been able to find the SW3 in a store, so it's really hard for me to compare the two.

On paper, the SW3 seems like the play for me. The only things swinging me towards the GWR are the screen (which seems brighter/prettier in videos?) and the overall look of the watch. I have a decent amount of meetings at work and I want the watch to just blend in with my work clothes (dress pants and a button up). The SW3 just seems more like a sports watch, but maybe I'm wrong.

I have both because the gwr is better for more formal clothes. So you should get the gwr then. But otherwise, I prefer the sw3. Rectangles make more sense on a smart watch and I love the always visible tft screen.

Finally got my update for my Moto 360 BUT it keeps shutting down while upgrading apps. I've been having trouble with the battery life lately as on a full charge, it'll just drop over the course of an hour or two. The watch was fully charged and I was at the gym for maybe 30 minutes before I got the upgrade notice. Hopefully this fixes it.

Got the update yesterday as well. Really hoping it doesn't give me too much trouble.

i think my hardware may be going faulty. After the update, which seems nice from what little use I had of it, the watch still shuts off. From a full charge, I navigated from 7:35am-8:00am and my watch is already dead. This is from a full night's charge, too. This is even faster than usual as I usually get at least 2 hours when it does decide to drain quickly (which is pretty much every day this past week).

Why wouldn't you have the GWR always on too?

Finally grabbed a slightly used GWR off of eBay. After getting 3 $50 gift cards for $35 a piece the other day, I was basically able to get the watch for $140 shipped. Not quite as good as the AT&T deal, but I'll take it.

I really should have researched that downloading music to Android wear is really shitty and you basically can't choose anything...

Also why is my Google Fit not syncing with my phone?

1st Gen. I've been on KitKat this whole time. I said it earlier, but I'm convinced now that Motorola products are the red headed step child in the Android family.
It sucks because the moto x could have been excellent if it had gotten this update earlier. Now it's a little too late. How is the new update working for you anyways?

BWAAAA. Looking forward to when I get mine. I started doing updates when reports they were expanding the soak testing.

::checks::

Still up to date. Would have been nice to get it the same time the 360 got it.

Yeah. I kind of realized during IO that they were talking about the OS update that's coming after the one I still didn't have and just kind of had to shake my head. Now I'm looking forward to that stuff. Haven't messed with it much yet, but liking it so far though.

I feel your pain. It showed up as a notification in the task bar for me, so I'd just wait for that instead of compulsively checking the update like I did for about a year lol.

I'm hoping it fixes my Wifi issue. Recently, it hasn't been able to connect to known Wifi APs. Even if I manually select it, it just doesn't connect. I have to reboot for it to work.

The visual changes make the notifications more readable and it does appear more smoothly animated. Unfortunately I'm still having charges issues so I wasn't able to bring it into work today with a 13% battery life. hah

since the price drop, the moto 360 has become really attractive to me. but like the thread title says, would it definitely be advised that i wait for 2nd gen? price is a pretty good factor and is one of the reason why im only just now considering the 360. $150 seems to be my impulse buy range, maybe up to $200. but if gen 2 comes out at $300, thats a no go for me. do i wait? go for it? im leaning towards go for it.

But once 2 is announced, it could drive prices even further down.

I was always planning to get a round watch, but the original LG was on sale for AU$88 the other day and I couldn't pass it up, even without wi-fi.

I'm enjoying it even if I would like to be able to talk into my wrist like Dick Tracy.

The designer in me is very curious about getting into watchfaces now however, and I was wondering if there any good tutorials or resources people can recommend?

Hopefully I'll get it soon then, been waiting a while for this now.
I've now managed to force the update on the 360 by doing the following:

All you have to do to get the update is what XDa developers said. Reset watch...then while resetting....uninstall wear app from phone. Then re-install. Once u connect phone via Bluetooth....when watch gives u tutorial....press side button until settings come up. Then go check for updates....worked great for me!
