What are you guys talking about "It didn't feel AVGN enough"??

Kyle being revived with ABBA
Exploding car out of fuel
Kyle shooting himself in the head and flickers.

Or is it that in every episode James has to shoot a bunch of lines to repeat the game sucks?

I'll take this a million times over all the other videos he makes that aren't AVGN.

And the theme rules.

I thought it was good, some funny moments. Personally never heard or played this game before so didn't have that connection. Didn't look all that shitty either compared to other games.

Does anyone know that theme that played when he resurrected Kyle? He used it for the ROB the Robot episode. Sooo good but can't find it anywhere.

Edit- NVM google sound search worked. lol

I also liked the production. I feel working on a movie has influenced that.

The only thing I don't like about his new camera work is the narrow depth of field he uses sometimes makes it look like he's in front of a greenscreen.

aw come on people, mike's cool too
I adore his cartoon/comic obsession and knowledge. he's got a huge collection of old cartoons and stuff

He's also a big reason why James kept going with the Avgn stuff. He kept making content while the movie was being made, and his humor is basically the same as James.

I just don't think he's best at unscripted stuff, as he often interrupts and rambles on too long to get a point across.

Dunno what it is about Kyle, but he's a cheerful man with a contagious laugh and smile. James' and Kyle's chemistry really makes for a great watch, in my opinion. Even if it does fall off far from the AVGN style. Their Battletoads episode was also very uplifting.

Any news of him appearing in the movie? I know one of James' friends is afraid of flying... Could've been Mike.

An OK episode, it feels like he aimed to make this episode a little longer and a little more show like then a 9 minute angry gamer rant.

I'm not against it but it needs a little work IMO.

never left the stone age
Surprised they didn't see the connection between dead guy behind the desk and dead guy behind the couch.

Unless they did and that's why he was revived..?

I'm at the point where I genuinely don't know if people are talking about Mike or Kyle anymore and just too lazy to use the right names?

The only AVGNs with guests I really appreciated (Bugs being a bit too much) were Ryu (Ninja Gaiden), Spider-Man and the Glitch Gremlin.

But Ikari Warriors was an all time low..it was just bad singing. Felt more like a James & Kyle hangout video than an AVGN.

I hated crazy castle when it first came out. but I rewatched it recently and found it very enjoyable.

Glitch Gremlin ep was awful.

Also nothing will top the Jason/Freddy eps. Jason ep is still the funniest.

if we're talking about the same episode, I have to disagree.

Yeah, the Glitch Grimlin episode is one of the main ones I use to introduce AVGN to people. Everyone loves glitches and the idea that mischievous gremlin is inside your game making them is very funny. That's one of his best.

On the other hand, I don't like the Friday the 13th one. The sarcasm for such a long period of time gets a bit annoying and the skit is predictable and unfunny. Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre are of a similar style and vastly better.

I usually choose the early bible games eps or plumbers don't wear ties, haha.

The video I like to use to introduce people is the Atari Porn one.

I'd also pick one of the Bible ones or Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. Those and the Friday 13th ep are in my top 5.

I also loved Bug's Bunny's Birthday Blowout at first but I don't think it's held up.

Most annoying guest character, worse than Shitpickle.

I always choose the NES accessories or Ninja Gaiden episodes. Those are the best, for me.

i dunno, the Jaguar review was really awesome 'where did YOU learn to fly'.

But thats probably because I always wondered whether the jaguar was any good as a kid and I never knew anyone who owned one...

You know I never hated ikari warriors as a kid, but watching that video made me realize I never got passed the first or second level. Never saw that skeleton behind the desk with the stairs you have to grenade etc.

As long as we're naming favorites, I still think the original Ghostbusters review is his best. And, as for episodes I dislike: Winter Games, Nintendo World Championships, Pong Consoles, Deadly Towers, and the original Dr. Jekyl and Mr Hyde. I don't remember much about Mario is Missing or Independence Day to say if they were bad, but they aren't memorable for me. And, I like Mike, and only disliked him in the Star Trek reviews (which, was that his last appearance?)

I can't think of any AVGN eps I outright dislike. I love James. He's a funny, articulent, and charismatic fellow. Even his other videos like Board James, Monster Madness, and 'You Know What's Bullshit?' are fun.

I almost couldn't finish watching this video because the singing was just so damned annoying. Like not in a good way kind of annoying, but in a "omg shut the hell up" kind of way.

That being said, I always loved this game as a kid. But after watching this, it makes me realize how easy we were to please back then.

I dislike the episodes where he intentionally plays a game badly, and then complains about the game as if his intentional poor misplay is actually the way the game is designed... and no, I don't mean the TMNT part with that pit, that's an easy mistake to make. But the one where he talked about Castlevania 64, for example? Some of his "complaints" in that segment were not only false, they were things that could only happen if you intentionally did things incorrectly, which is what he did, over and over again on video, to convince the unknowing viewer that the game actually was like that or something. That part with that bomb or whatever? You just carry it. It's not hard.

On a similar note, I know it wasn't an AVGN episode, but as I said earlier in the thread, that "James and Mike play Jaguar" episode was about as bad, with how they bashed games like Hover Strike and Cybermorph while obviously, and intentionally, playing them wrong. "This game is awful" has more weight when you're actually trying to play the game and it's bad, then when you're just messing up on purpose (setting the acceleration to max, spinning in circles, and then complaining about the framerate? Oh come on, that's stupid), and then bashing it for being a game in a genre you don't like. Those games aren't Star Fox, and they're not supposed to be!

I didnt mind Shitpickle but the Glitch Gremlin was the worst episode. Hated it. Best episode was Battletoads.

I thought he said once that the only time he died on purpose was in TMNT

It may be the only time he died on purpose, but it's not like you ever see his whole run-through. It's edited, so no matter how 'real' the source material is an editorial intent seeps in. There are definitely many games where a player as skilled as he appears to be should have had not much trouble with the overall game.

I really liked the Ghost N' Goblins episode. Now THAT was epic. Didn't rely on guest or gimmicks or anything, just straight forward, simple, concise. Such a shame to see this episode being such a step back.

Haha, absolutely. Kyle's awesome.

Yeah, overall I think Kyle is great when he contributes something to a nerd episode. I still like his cover of Foreigners Double Vision for his Coleco/ Intellivision review:

Yeah the two part Ghostbusters review was priceless. My favorite moment of that review was when he called up a shop that sells vacuum cleaners and he asks if they had any ghost vacuums that he could put on the top of his car.

Ha, as much as I like that episode, that's the worst part, for me. lol
