Hey, on the island, you can do the scavenger hunt. I haven't unlocked Nook's upgraded shop yet to get the catalogue, but if I pick up furniture on the island, does it unlock purchasing through the catalogue?

Any NTSC-U copy of the game can do it, regardless of where you live. PAL version doesn't seem to work from what people are saying.
Just remember to disable your security while you do it, too.
It has nothing to do with that. You can't have other wifi connections enabled at the same time you try to download from the Bestbuy ssid
Turn whatever your 3ds can connect to or is connecting to off, and add in the Bestbuy connection to your list in the settings.
Meh, I didn't mind it. I got to see some of my old co-workers, and it's near my job. But I think I'll try this hotspot trick for the cat tower next time.

Is your game PAL? Because, as I said earlier, I am Australian using a NTSC-U game and it worked for me.
I did get the Nintendo Zone thingy on my home screen however.Well....I'm sorry to hear that

That's not true. I didn't remove any of my other connections and it worked fine for me.

I'd still buy it from the catalog, if you can do it. Even though BestBuy itself says the items won't be available on the catalog.
I got it while at someone else's town and I got disconnected...

these exclusive items can't be bought, you can just look at them on the catalogue
there's no way these items count to what the game considers to be "catalogue completion" anyway

Since you can shake your 3DS like a maniac to get items, I'd say it's worth it, since you can only buy one (at first) per day.

Man, Nintendo pulled a fast one on me: While I had already bought New Leaf by the time E3 rolled around, I didn't start playing it until Villager was revealed for Smash. It totally energized me to play New Leaf, which I began later that week.
Or when you streetpass with Japanese people you'll also get the option to buy every piece of furniture in their houses.

I doublechecked my sister's house in the Happy Home Showcase, I can order the Rainbow Screen for 5,088 Bells. I assume since this item came from the Post Office, you should be able to order the Best Buy items as well.

Well, there's no Slurpee machine DLC so I think I'll live for now. I love me some Slurpees.
