Untileable path IS an area like cliff/building/pwp you cannot place bushes next to.

They're right next to paths. Paths are also nutrient draining squares.

I've got bush-lined paths all over town.
There is a space you can't put patterns on right in front of houses..that counts as one of those places you can't set bushes next or diagonally to it
There is no problem setting bushes next to pathways. I have a lot like that.

I also have to remind myself to not plant bushes all over where possible..I actually made a bench unreachable that way hehe

It is one of the more tedious aspects of the game. As much as I love nudging Isabelle around a nanometer at a time for 30 minutes before giving up, it'd be nice to have a bit more leeway.

Maybe it's just a thing with all impassable objects, like you can run through flowers but shit like bushes and rocks the game wants space around them (from certain things at least, of course bushes can be grown next to trees and other bushes).
Yep, exactly. Yesterday, I was finding a plot for my mule character. Nook got on my nerves so much. What do you mean I can't build my house there because of the other neighbor? When they move in, they could be parked right in front or to the side of me with NO restrictions... I think Nook is quite biased.
I can understand rocks, since you could get money and ores from them. But you can't even shake bushes. They are just innocently there, waiting for their time to bloom.
Thanks to MicH's gyroid infestation and kami's donations, my hubby's want list of gyroids is smaller.

Probably later this morning. I'm waiting to see if Wolfe is still around to pick up Eugene and then I have to do a big cleanup. Flowers, gyroids, ugh. I can sift through all the gyroids at the train station at the same time.
Makes sense. Like how you can't chain 12 of them together to trap a villager in/out of their house. Oh well.
