I got tired of my standard handguards. Got me a 12'' Fortis free floater.

Looks good. What trigger do you have on it?

Where do you live? I have no problem walking into Walmart and finding Brassmax 9mm 100 round for $23

Pensacola, FL. Wal-Mart is cheap, but they never have anything but the occasional box of Tul .40. Academy is pretty good, but those two calibers remain elusive.

So I'm finally in a position to purchase a gun. Check this sweet thing out.

glock26.jpg

http://www.glock.com/english/glock26.htm

It's perfect for what I want, a small weapon easily concealed for those late nights coming out of the casino. It shouldn't be more than $800 after the gun, bullets, holster, concealed permit, and registration.

Anyone one own one and have any thoughts they would like to share?

I have that same gun and I love it. Its not tolling to carry around with you and it still has stopping power for self defense. Would highly recommend

What do you think about the Super SCAR trigger? I've passed on a few group buys partially because I've never shot a three stage trigger and I'm fine with the trigger as is while plinking at the range.

Super SCAR is a 2 stage trigger; I'm not sure what a three stage trigger is.

But to answer your question, I think the Geissele SS is a significant improvement over the factory trigger. It's lighter and the break is more crisp. Certainly notice a difference in accuracy. Also the reset feels shorter than stock (this is more applicable to 16s than 17s for obvious reasons). YMMV but the only real way you can tell whether you would like it is to try it.

Sorry meant 2-stage trigger. I wish I knew someone else with a SCAR or any other Geissele triggers to try.

Do you have a 1911 or at least shot a 1911 (a decent one, not like cheap one)? Do you like the trigger on it better than say, a Glock or an another polymer pistol? IMO that's close analogy to what the difference between Geissele or any aftermarket trigger system vs stock/GI-spec triggers.

For that reason, beginners tend to shoot better with a 1911, or at least that's been the case in my experience.

Gotcha. I've been debating upgrading the trigger on all my rifles. Geissele in SCAR and Colt, Timney in Tavor.

Give us the full rundown of your armaments! I see an FNX 45 Tactical (My man!!)

You should try it out on your AR first, if you like it then swap the rest out, if not, you can always sell it back to the community for almost as much as you paid for it new.

I keep a modest collection since I'm limited by size of the safe. Yep, the FNX45 Tactical is nice one.

I need that Osprey!!! So many things on the list. I have a RMR on my FNX.

What else you got there?
Walther PPQ?
HK45?
No clue on the 1911?
It's nice. Some blow back on the FNX but that's expected. Currently it's at the shop being cerakoted. Speaking of cool toys, I just brought a FA556 212 from botach (they are running a combo deal with MB556K brake for 800). Planning on putting it with the SBR SCAR 16s whenever that gets outta jail. It's likely to be another 12 months; the wait starts again. In the mean I can only comfort myself with video of others having fun with their FA556s...

Yes, that's a Walther PPQ, HK P30 and the 1911 is a Kimber Desert Warrior.

My list grows everyday.

XDM 5.25 9mm
Beretta M9A1 or 92A1
HK45 Tactical
Osprey 45
Kriss Vector
FN PS90
Some sort of suppressor for my SCAR 17 as it sounds like lightning striking every time I shoot it.
Timney trigger for Tavor
Geissele triggers for SCAR and AR

Probably forgetting some other stuff on the want list.

So any good sites or pages out there that are overall good sources of firearm related articles/news? What would be best stuff to follow to stay up to date with a good variety of coverage for the world of shooting

HK45 (if not the tactical) is on my list as well. I will eventually get a Kriss Vector but I want to take care of the SCAR 16 SBR project first. Shot an XDM, not too impress with it. M9 I'm quite familar with as it's standard issued; it shoots decently but nothing really stands out about it. I would rather take a CZ75B. PS90 is just like the Kriss in that unless you get it SBR there's no point in owning. Only PS90 is significantly lower on my list since it's a proprietary munition platform which I dislike.

SBRing the 17 and getting a suppressor for it are on the list as well, but again need to take care of the 16 project first.

Bunch of good youtube channels out there: MilitaryArmsChannel, hickok45, miculek.com, nutnfancy etc.

There are bunch of blogs/news sites as well:
http://www.thefirearmblog.com/
http://www.everydaynodaysoff.com/
http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/

There are more out there but if you want specific news about certain firearms or topic, the best is still google.com

I love the Springfield XDM line. It was my first gun but I didn't get the 5.25. I'm working my way back through the calibers. I already have a CZ-75 SP-01 Tactical in a 9mm. PS90 is far down on the list because of the damn ammo situation but its on the list.

Thinking of picking up a Howa 1500 in 270 winny, my local gun store has one for $350 new with no optics. Anybody got an opinions on good and cheap high powered scopes? Anybody used the NC-Star 4-16x50 or the NC-Star 6-24x50?

Edit: I did a little research and it sounds like the NC Star scopes fail after 50-200 shots. It kinda looks like the Tasco 4-16x40 holds up. I'm gonna have to keep looking if I want that rifle.

Picked this nice 12G Rizzini U/O up yesterday, looking forward to bedding it in this weekend on some clays and then pigeons.

Need to re-acquire my CZ 452 and Ruger 10/22 I sold a few years back.

Redfield makes good stuff at decent prices. Though I don't have any direct experience with their super high magnification stuff (they make a couple of 6-18x scopes that retail around $300), my experience with their Revolution line has been great.

Sexy. I love over-unders.

I have a Browning Citori Lighting that I use for clay shooting and bird hunting.

Impressions of the PPQ hwalker?

This thing will break your shoulder.....awesome.

It's actually not bad unless I'm shooting really hot rounds like slug or 3 inch magnums. Mine also has a rubber pad on the back. My grandpa bought two Citoris and gave me that one. The other one he has is a featherlight and a little longer. I had a choice of the two and took the Lightning since I liked the finish and weight of it better.

My Mossberg 500 is significantly lighter so it kicks a bit harder.

If I "double-tap" both barrels though then yeah... That can hurt a little lol.

Well I bought a Mosin Nagant just this past Monday. Looking forward to the weekend to get her out to the range for a few shots. I'm not sure if I want to "sporterize" her or not but I'm thinking I will get the brass stacker scout mount to put a scope on her. I do know for sure I will refinish her in the near future.

Very cool - I think I might fall victim to the M-N bug, myself. Kinda want to go bonkers and place it in this furniture, add a scope mount and see where it goes. :)

Was wondering if anyone has any advice on an AR-15 that's good quality but not above $900? Only one I've been able to consistently find at decent price is the S&W M&P15.

I've currently got a Glock 17, Remington 1911 R1 Enhanced and a Mossberg 500 so I want to round out my small collection with a semi-auto rifle. Finally decided on the AR-15 over the AK-47, but for the price, I'm beginning to think the AK would be easier to go with.

I built my own for less than $700. That price doesn't include the optic which is the Vortex Strikefire. People will tell you that you can't get a quality AR unless you go and buy one from Colt, Daniel Defense or one of the other premiere gun companies that have contracts with said military service or law enforcement. That's a crock of ****.

Public service announcement: if you and your guns have been gathering dust for a while, stop thinking "I should probably hit the range one of these days" and just drag your ass out there. You'll have a lot of fun and probably shoot a lot better than you expect, too.

I tested this advice empirically on myself after a couple months of no range time, and got my best result ever with CZ SP-01 Shadow + .22 Kadet conversion. Freestyle, no time, 5 rounds, standard 25m target:

That is gorgeous and what I'm looking to get. The scope I'm not as concerned with as I've still not decided where I want to go as far as optics. Mind sharing resources on parts? I'd love to price this out and start a build

Colt tests every inch of their rifle...barrel, bolt, etc! They are made very well! Materials are top notch and quality is maintained better than most manufacturers. Then again it should when you provide the military with them! They want to ensure no flaw in their product...nothing wrong with the barrel, bolt, BCG...and so on! Higher quality parts in this rifle and WAY more stringent testing than the Smith. You can definitely build something that goes BOOM for cheaper but you'll never have that level of craftsmanship and individual testing. If going BOOM is all you want... build one.

No problem. I pieced it together from different places.

I got my upper from MidwayUSA
Del-ton AR-15 A3 Flat-Top

The lower receiver and parts kit I bought locally. There is a site similar to craigslist for guns called Armslist. You should definitely check them out. You may find deals on there in your local area. My buttstock is the Magpul STR which is normally a $120 buttstock but I found it locally on Armslist for $75.

The standard pistol grip comes with the lower parts kit that you have to buy but I liked the rubber grip from Magpul and that runs about $20 and its $35 for the handguard. Lastly the rear sight is the Magpul MBUS and I snatched it off of Amazon.
