anybody else thinking of canceling PS4 pre-order after reading the reviews?

I didn't buy a PS3 for Genji

Pretty much the same can be said for the ps4 and xbo

Given the price i wouldn't cancel the preorder, a price drop isn't expected for at least a year i think, the console has potential, it won't get stale.

Tim Dog is gonna have a field day with all this lol, better try the games and think for yourself

Always wait for reviews. ALWAYS.

Even then, you knew the PS4 had a mediocre launch line-up and it's always stupid to buy consoles at launch.

Not at all, and if you're going to let reviews sway you into cancelling a preorder than you shouldn't have done it in the first place. It's a console launch reviews to be heavily critical.

I can't wait to get my PS4 and try everything out for myself.

Also to every site doing a console review. Each one of them better say to hold off and wait. There isn't a reason to buy either console this early to be honest.

I cancelled my PS4 a couple of months ago purely down to lack of games that I am interested in. Resogun is not worth me being out of pocket £350 before XMAS when I can wait a little longer.

Plus the GF is of the opinion that the XONE should be enough and the house should get financial priority. She just doesn't understand gaming :)

I will pick one up when the games drop. I am planning for Spring 2014.

I couldn't care less about reviews, I know I will have a blast with Killzone. I however cancelled my pre order when Watch Dogs was delayed as it was the game I wanted the most along with KZ.

I didn't pre-order but why would I cancel my pre-order on someone else's opinion. Just like how the the people getting xb one that say they don't care that their games will be less than 1080p.

You shouldn't let someone like freakin' Arthur Gies influence you this much.

Or anyone else from the whiny, entitled as FUCK gaming press.

KS:SF is getting mostly good reviews and is a graphical showcase, BF4 on console is best on PS4 and Resogun is excellent it seems.

Launch is always shades of great and shades of mediocre with all the best yet to come, and with Infamous, Destiny and Driveclub in the next 6 months that potential will start to be realised very soon.

Day One.

Cancelling and waiting until next year? Nope - Resogun. The reviews have done nothing to sway me. Launch games are generally lackluster. Polygon seems to be on a tear but the rest of the reviews seem to be about what I expected.

No.. I am not so shallow to where two poor reviews on Killzone, and low scores for a game I knew would get low scores (Knack) is going to decide what I spend my money on.

I'm glad I didn't order one yet.

But reviews shouldn't really matter. Trust your instincts. I knew Knack and Killzone wasn't for me long before the scores.

Resogun tho! *drools*

Absolutely not. I'm still excited as ever, 60fps and 64 player Battlefield and probably AC 4. Shadowfall when it goes down in price.. that and the indie titles available at launch means there's plenty to play for me for the time being.

It's hilarious how Polygon are suggesting there's nothing to play on the PS4 early next year when there clearly is (Destiny, Infamous, Driveclub, Watch Dogs, The Order).

No!
Several good games out there.
Killzone, Battlefield, Resogun, etc. etc.
btw. I don't buy consoles only for launch games.

PS4: Better hardware, better price, better 1st Party Studios, better Premium Service (PS+) = PS4

Well I'm going to buy a PS4 for sure, it is more a question of when. Indeed to many great 1st party games.

Ryse and Dead rising 3 are going to torn apart,

Ryse is being sent to die, true, but I suspect that when the dust settles Dead Rising 3 will end up the highest rated launch exclusive for either platform.

That being said, I expect the scores for DR3 to be in the low to mid-80s.

What games were you expecting to be better? I haven't read any reviews that have changed my outlook on anything; the results seem expectedly mediocre. I'm buying a new console out of hype, not so much for the launch day games.

LOL No. By the time inFamous comes out, it'll be hard to obtain a unit.

Besides, the games I want for launch are ACIV and Resogun. I am kind of curious about Killzone because it looks pretty but I tend to suck at FPS so that's kind of out of the question for now.

People seriously thinking PS4 will price drop before a PSfour is released in 3 years time? Nope. Sony made this thing to profit, it's cheaper than the competition and more powerful, also will sell better.

And very few people actually care about or read reviews other than in mainstream newspapers they come across.

No. But I'd imagine there will be a lot of cancelling happening today beyond gaf when word of the hardware and software reviews spread around.

Today is going to be a pr disaster for Sony. They need to announce something today to deflect from all this.

No.

If your launch day console purchase is completely dependent on the launch games then you should have waited in the first place.

Because his judgement is uninformed? That's why we read reviews from sources that have actually spent time with the system. Otherwise you're just flying blind into the purchase. It's a logical assumption to base your purchasing decision on how others have reviewed it.

Yeah, I want you, and everyone else on GAF, to remember that shit the next time a "bitch about gaming journalist" thread pops up.

It's fucking ridiculous that people turn to the same people for buying advice that they publicly crucify on a daily basis on these forums. If the state of games journalism and reviews is half as bad as the average GAFfers makes it out to be, and it is, then why would you trust these same people to decide your purchases for you? An informed idiot is still an idiot.

Nope.

I don't let the opinions of people I don't know sway my buying habits.

this.
The reviewer cant possibly know if ill like the game or not, so i need to try it myself.
In fact i usually despise reviews and that kind of things because in the past i lost a lot of hidden gems because of my trust in them.

I think is kinda funny that most people gave Nintendo shit for their WiiU launch saying how bad it was, yet the Mario game that come out with it got a much better reception than anything so far out of the PS4.

Maybe I should get an wii u instead ...

Honestly, you probably should. There would be plenty of great games to play at this point. I think it'll be about a year or so before the PS4 has a more appealing lineup. No reason to pick it up on day one if the games aren't doing it for you.

Ryse is being sent to die, true, but I suspect that when the dust settles Dead Rising 3 will end up the highest rated launch exclusive for either platform.

That being said, I expect the scores for DR3 to be in the low to mid-80s.

Really? With Killzone being burned as " more of the same " what is different in DR3 from DR2 that would warrant good reviews from the same type of folk?

Not at all, its not like I'm going to play this thing for a month and then throw it in the trash. I'll be playing it for the next 6-8 years, so I'm not at all worried about the launch games being mostly average... its about what I expected.
