Anyone else going all digital with Switch 2?

Feels like Nintendo is trying to push it for sure. With digital games being cheaper and the card holder being a pain to open if you have no finger nails, I'm gonna be all digital and get an SD card along with the system when I get one.

The main point of contention is do you want re-sale value of your physical games for the future or do you want your physical library to be possibly left behind in a future nintendo console (switch 3, etc) where they go all-digital and no longer support your cartridges and you are no longer able to buy them anymore digitally if licenses expire as an example (and the new systems only let you play your digital switch 1, 2 games, etc). This is the dilemma.

I trust steam with digital games.

I will never trust Nintendo in a million years when it comes to digital. Just look at what they did to Wii u and 3ds eshop.

Why would you do that?
I bet physical games will still be cheaper due to deals.
And why give up your ownership. Even if game is not on the as card, at least it's not tied to your account

Something I still don't understand if I buy the physical version that has a card inside with a digital code. Don't I get the best of both worlds? I'll have the game digitally and then I'm able to trade it or return it to stores do I have that right?

With the digital key cards, the "code" that's on the card doesn't get added to your account - it stays with the cartridge. You can only play the game if the cartridge is inserted, so if you sell the cartridge you don't get to play the game anymore. The only difference with these cards, compared with the standard cards, is that the game's code isn't actually stored on the card itself and has to be downloaded first in order to play.

Ahh that's the catch so I have to use a specific cartridge for the game? Negates its use for me. I would be ok if it was tied to a universal card like if we could assign all our games to a cart and if we didn't want it sell the code back or trade it in and it would be removed from our cart.

I swap games to often to be carrying around carts

I was already digital only on Switch 1. I'll do the same on Switch 2.

edit: well except for DOA XBV 3 Scarlet since I had to import it due to them not releasing the game in America

THIS right here

Nintendo is 25 years behind on this stuff. If/when I get a Switch 2, it will be 100% physical. I trust Nintendo 0 with my digital games

My Steam Account has been safe since 2006, and it will continue to be.

I've been doing digital with Steam, Blizzard, and Epic for well over 15 years But for some reason if I do get a console again, I want physical games again. Just that nice classic feeling of opening the disk tray and putting a game in.

I'm full digital for more than 10 years now, including Nintendo. I have a situation where I tend to move frequently sometimes and cannot just carry lots of physical games all the time, the only exception I do is books, I like my books physical

Of course. It's just a bad idea to still be buying physical. You'll end up with a bunch of cartridges and discs that won't be usable on next-generation consoles.

Most games even for Switch 2 won't even be on the cartridge anyway. Physical has become completely pointless and only still exists at all for people who fear change.

Nintendo can get bent, I'm never going digital on their platform for as long as I can help it. If I didn't get snubbed on the standalone Switch 2 during my pre-order I would have preferred to get that and the physical version of Mario Kart World instead.

Yes, just like every other modern platform.

Blah blah but what if they take away your games or China detonates an EMP?!?!?! Motherfucker I have more things to worry about.

I prioritize physical games for the ones I truly care about - in Nintendo's case, the means Mario, Zelda, Xenoblade, and Metroid. I get digital games for everything else.

I might even buy both digital and physical copies of the same game just for the convenience of not having to insert the cartridge (I did this specifically for Zelda).

I've done that, but usually if the digital version goes on sale.

Is it an American thing to be so smug online because they buy digital only? I see it a lot here on NeoGAF. Are digital only people like vegans with their air of superiority or shall I say a bunch of smug cunts. Why can't both digital and physical co-exists?

No. It only makes sense to go digital on PC. A closed ecosystem like Sony or Nintendo is physical as much as possible. Especially Nintendo I would never trust going 100 percent digital. That's just foolishness.

Part of why I switched to digital (besides prices not making a difference because nintendo gonna Nintendo) is because i inadvertently dropped my first switch around christmas and my physical copy of botw was destroyed with it.
Ended up needing to rebuy botw…

But you cant destroy a digital copy

Switch 2 cases are ugly af anyway so its not like I'm missing out regardless

nah, the Switch is the only system I still bought most games on cart.
and I will continue doing that on Switch 2 I think.

not 100% but for many titles I will, especially Nintendo first party games as you can expect the cartridge version to be polished and complete.
