I think most women would also be more attracted to a guy that actually works hard for his money.. or maybe I'm just weird. ;o Honestly, I could probably never date like a spoiled rich guy or something that lives off parents money and what not. I've been through some decently difficult times in the past few years and I have to say at least I've learned to appreciate things more. I could probably qualify for social security benefits for my bipolar but I really haven't wanted to resort to that yet..

Let's just agree that we both value different things in life. Some of us value hard-work and earning our way to the places we want to be in life. And you would rather have it subsidized by your government. I think we come from different schools of thought on this one.

I'l have plenty of time to "Work" decomposing when i'm dead.

For the mean time, il have no time limits, no stress, no early mornings ect

You should at least try living on your own man, or be roommates with friends. It's a liberating experience. I'm pretty sure your parents will appreciate the alone time as well.

Coming from the guy who deletes 8 hours from his life everyday at work , I get enough from the goverment to always spend time with my friends, take short breaks, eating out ect, i just don't feel the need to do a boring job.

Ud be suprised how good the world is walking around during the day when everyone else is stressing away and getting grey hair / slipping into depression at age 40
Yeah, I'm sure the ladies can't possibly resist you.

The way you're living, is not living.

They pay the rent? What kind of idiot statement is that. YOU PAY THE RENT. You don't let someone else work to pay your bills. The only reason you would go to the government for money, is when you are trying to get a job, but can't (like other people in this topic) or if an health issue prevents you from working (and I just read two people here have that and are still working their ass of to support themselves).

People like you are the problem. Glad the government is forcing you to work. Try making something of this opportunity. Other people in this topic would probably love to get a job handed to them like you got.

I'm unemployed since April of last year. I've put in quite a few applications to the numerous retail and food places we have around here. That's pretty much the only thing we have around here that I could do.

No car and don't even know how to drive, no college schooling (i'm a highschool dropout who pursued my G.E.D.), no money since I wasted every single cent from my previous on stupid shit like weed and videogames. No one to blame but myself. :D

Not one single line of action have I planned for my future. I put myself in quite a rut and now I gotta figure out how i'm gonna get that money to get myself outta it!

You could always try what I do once to get a bit of money to work from if your willing to lay down the pipe till it gets out of your system.

It does seem like an interesting side gig. I think I would be worried about the potential side effects from the untested meds however. Does that thought ever bother you?

Well I get full documentation on the drug before testing, so I have time to review everything. Some drugs are already approved and are just going through additional testing to please the FDA, so it's all fairly good. The only side-effect I've really endured was feeling drunk for about a day after a dose for one study.

I choose to be , i prefer just staying up all night watching movies and gaming, can't be botherd with the stress of a job, and i don't need the money (staying with the folks)

So a job would just be a waste of time for me

Im a month away from finishing my photography degree and, honestly, I dont really know what to do from here. It feels very much like I picked the wrong course. At the time, I really had a drive for it, but now... not so much. I should have done a graphic course and actually learnt some shit that was going to be useful after I left.

There isnt much money in photography, unless you manage to break into the whole weddings / schools / portrait stuff. But there really doesnt seem to be much of a market for the kind of work I have done, anymore. Every other creative job requires a different skill set to mine.

So, in a month, I will be unemployed, and I dont see that changing much, unless I get lucky.

Ultimately, I will do anything to not be like the prick who posted above.

I graduated May 09, worked a shitty job at a call center for several months until I decided I couldn't take it anymore, moved into my sister's apartment in January. I had enough saved to pay the bills for 3 months...After two months of job searching, I finally got hired on at a great company, and I could see myself sticking around for a while. But if you count from when I graduated to when I got my "real" job, it was about ten months. Life's good now, but those were a pretty depressing ten months. Hang with 'em Unemployed GAF!

I'm currently employed, but in the past few years, I've been unemployed for a total of about 10 months. The job I have right now is the best job I've ever had, but I don't get paid for what this position normally pays at other companies. I should be making 10k more. But at least I can actually afford to have a slightly better life.

I was screwed out of a promotion about a month ago. A guy who's been here longer than me who has no college and no experience doing anything in this job field aside from what the company taught him decided that I was a threat, so he made up shit to my boss who told that shit to the other boss who was hiring. Complete bullshit and there's nothing I can really do about it since the other guy and my boss are friends. Hate this company.

By the way, there were over 200 applicants for my job. I dunno if it was shear luck or what, but don't let the odds keep you from trying.

About to agree to sell advertising for a High School Football Preview magazine with 25% commission , pretty pricey advertising and I know the publication is probably going to turn out like shit.

So Gaf should I put myself through the torture of high pressure sales for a VERY mediocre product or should I just suck my thumb on the couch browsing the web?

I am swaying towards the latter.

Yeah, the job marketplace isn't for me. It really didn't help my social phobias that much either, so this is the way to go for me. :lol Busting my ass for minimum wage that hardly paid the bills in comparison to what I'm doing now was terrible.

Hopefully your hard work pays off man, take a nice long vacation and have some fun. ;) I know I'd like to visit some nice places, restaurants, and such if I wasn't so lazy. :lol Going to Japan with friends next year to visit some temples so it should be fun sketching the scenery.

You're living the American dream. How do you tell a potential mate what you do though? That must be awkward.

Frankly, I hate my job and may quit soon whether or not I find something new. I know that isn't going to be popular in this thread but I've grown fairly depressed at my current place of employment. I make a decent salary but there is no more upward mobility and I have absolutely no interest in what I'm doing. Also, I don't get along with many of the people I work with. It's not a friendly environment.

It's time for me to move on. I've got savings, I just need to find something fairly fast.

This thread makes me feel lucky to even have a job, though I still want to upgrade a bit. Surprised to hear about fast food turning people away, I had no idea this ever happened.

assuming kentpaul is a European with entitlement issues? French? nvm, a brit.

Anyways, I think people are just trying to be helpful about your lifestyle.

I don't think there's anything bad about being unemployed, but understand people are paying the bills for you to live, don't bite the hand that feeds you.

I installed car-audio there through college. Three years of that place's bullshit. I left at $9/hour. Fuck Best Buy.

I've been unemployed since August. After graduating uni last May, I haven't really been looking and just did my camp job one last time. Now I'm sick of it and I'm gonna start applying to jobs I'm not even qualified for. All this free time and not being productive is driving me crazy :/

I had a job at a bookstore, but I quit because I hated the job and hated my managers. I'm a college student, though, so I get to live off my parents for the summer.

I hear you, man. This is what happened to me. I took it for as long as I could, but then, last month, I just knew it was time to go.

It was a long time coming, so I'd spent the previous year building a nest egg and laying the groundwork for a freelance business. Now my days are free, and I'm prospecting for clients while looking for full-time opportunities. It's a little scary, but I feel great; like a new man.

Best of luck to you. Life's too short to let a job drag you down for long.

God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.
