Anyone skipped the Wii U but excited for the NX?

Excited for what? One game? Who the hell gets excited for something we know nothing about yet?

Well, it's going to feature a lot of Nintendo games and every single Nintendo developer will be focusing solely on this one device (outside of mobile projects of course). For many, that's all that needs to be known.

I'm always excited for a Nintendo console but the 4 latest have left me disappointed. This seems intresting but the price is very important since Nintendo consoles seldom goes down in price.

So what does the NX look like? No reveal, no hype. Also only 1 game confirmed and it doesn't even have NX footage yet.

I have a Wii U but I'm not terribly excited for the NX, yet. Feels like I'm a unicorn for not really caring about the NX right now (need official details, thank you.) The rumor mill doesn't do anything for me anymore. And I'm probably getting Zelda on Wii U since, y'know, I have one. And "launch window" Nintendo consoles are always like living in a desert...

Nope. I skipped Wii and Wii U because it was severely underpowered and gimmicky, I'm skipping NX because it sounds severely underpowered and gimmicky. I hate gaming on handhelds, in all forms, and while Zelda looks good i can't help but think how much were missing out on due to the machine not being comparable to the others. It's 1 game though and Nintendo are going in the wrong direction when it comes to gaming for me. Invest in power, they have franchises, they'd be able to do much more, but nope. So, I will ignore them as they're not offering the gaming experience I'm looking for.

I've skipped both 3DS and Wii U though I have played a few games on friends systems.

I used to own a DS and Wii

I'm excited to have a Nintendo console again and I am hoping it's a hybrid so I can play all the games like Pokemon, Zelda and etc on one system.

Could if happen that NX having no backwards compatibility, people would try to get the last Wii Us in stock to enjoy its gems? It will probably have a notable price drop after the NX announcement or release.

I really wonder how's Nintendo going to adapt DS, 3DS and Wii U games to Virtual Consoles in the future, if it's true that NX will be a console with the traditional single screen.

I owned almost every Nintendo console and handheld but I skipped on the Wii because it didn't excite me at all. I got a Wii U though.

The NX? I have no hype for it. Mostly because I don't even know what it is (and haven't seen it). I'll wait for Nintendo's reveal.

Same scenario as you, OP - had every Nintendo console up until the Wii U, but genuinely hyped for the NX and the reveal. Hoping they deliver! Breath of the Wild alone is almost enough to convince me...

Can't wait for NX to kill off 3DS and end the handheld gaming ghetto forever. I'll buy one for this cause alone.

I want to see what it is first before I get all excited about it.

If NX can become the spiritual successor of sorts to Vita, count me in since Sony will not be doing that.

The Vita line isn't something I would want Nintendo to take cues from, the PSP line would be a better product to be inspired from.

If the NX gets all the best Wii U games at launch, those who skipped the Wii U are in for a treat.

On the other hand, those who have loved the Wii U and bought all its great first-party games (like me), there's little to get excited about. I'll probably get one 2 years after its release (or when Animal Crossing NX comes out).

I have never owned any Nintendo system and my hype for NX is high, will be a day one purchase. Reason being is the Microsoft/Sony game has gone stale, too similar to each other, they have both lost whatever unique touch they once had in the previous gen, better off just building a rig. I played the Wii u a fair bit whenever I would be visiting my friends place & if that's their worst console release ever then I think they will smash it with the NX, I mean it surely can't be any worse, only way is up sorta thing.

I owned every Nintendo console up until the GameCube then skipped both the Wii and WiiU, so I'm more than ready for a new Nintendo system. Still have to see what it is before I know for sure if I want it though.

I'm interested, I don't know if I'm excited. I want to see it first - I'm already sold on Zelda, so as long as there's a couple of other great games and the hardware is cool, I'm all in.

Now Wii U - I thought it was a wrong move right from the first reveal.

My PC compltely destroyed my consoles this generation, outside of a few sony exclusives here and there, I won't be there for the next gen.

NX could fit in nicely: actually fun games that are truly pick-up and play console games, instead of nerfed pc ports. That said, it will likely be a bulky clumsy handheld paired with a massively underpowered home console: the risk of it bombing hard are very high.

No, if anything NX might be something I skip.

I have skipped some games on Wii U though, IF NX is something I'd want I'm hoping for remasters there.

I didn't skip Wii U entirely but I only owned the system for around 6 months before selling it on.

I am really excited for NX. Mainly for the portable factor but also because I'm hoping that Nintendo re-invent some of their franchises in the same way that they did Zelda.

All this talk of Nintendo using NX as a system to introduce a new era for Nintendo is pretty exciting and I hope it's not just hype and empty promises.

Nintendo brought an "A" game of many exclusives to the Wii U. Can't say that about PS4 or XB1, unfortunately.

I know someones gonna give you shit for saying this but yeah it took way too long for the other consoles to get worthwhile exclusives. I hope anyone who gets an NX gets to experience Pikmin 3 and Bayonetta 2.

I skipped on the Wii U mainly because of the controller. I don't want that huge thing in my hands all the time and I didn't really see the use for the screen apart from some party games. I also hate charging my controllers, the DS4 is bad enough already.

I'm excited for NX though. Also, I HAVE to play Zelda BotW, so NX is the way to go.

Excited is too much, more like: "since nx will be the only handheld on the market i have to hope it will be good", also curiosity.

I'm excited to find out what it is... surely there's gotta be an announcement of some kind soon? I imagine I'll get it at launch, anyway.

If it's 3DS backwards compatible I will heavily consider purchasing my first ever Nintendo console that happens to be a portabke hybrid.

Put me on the "what the hell is it though" boat. There's nothing to get excited about from me at the moment, only curiosity.

I'm excited, new big Nintendo games are always cause for celebration, I only hope the console has a lot of launch titles worth buying.

Yep that's me. Not only because the NX should be the portable too, which I always buy, but also because I like nintendo consoles. I just couldn't get myself to buy a Wii U ever because of that gamepad

Not me, and to be fair i don't see how someone can be excited for the NX while not having interest in the Wii U. Sure, we don't even know what the NX is, but knowing Nintendo, chances are the NX will be pretty similar to the Wii U, amazing exclusives, some gimmicks and almost no third-party support.

Nope. I wanted to be excited, but Nintendo hasn't done anything to win me over. From what we know it's another underpowered console with possibly limited 3rd party support. Comments about the NX winning back the hearts of casual gamers further cement my impressions that this console isn't for me.

I think I'll pick up the Wii-U for cheap near or after the NX launches so I can play the few games I missed out on. Unless Nintendo does something that actually appeals to me, I'll likely do the same for the NX.

Yup i'm in this boat. I'm incredibly hyped that they are merging their portable and console library

This is mainly it for me as I disliked having to get both a 3DS and a Wii U for Nintendo exclusives. I'd prefer they be all on one console. That said, I hope this is what they're going for as I really don't want to have 20 consoles to play all of my favorite franchises. I just wish we knew more about the damn thing.

EDIT: Didn't answer OP's question. I only have a 3DS, while my friend has a Wii U in which I get to play any of the big exclusives.

Excited? No, but I can see myself buying it unlike the Wii U. That is unless the rumours that it isn't backwards compatible are true which would make me buy a Wii U first for those few games.
