Apple has taken down its online storefront hours ahead of its "Far out" event in preparation for the announcement of the new iPhone 14, new Apple Watches, AirPods Pro, and more.

The event, being held at the Steve Jobs Theater at Apple Park, will include a wide range of new announcements and updates. Apple is expected to announce the ‌iPhone 14‌, the ‌iPhone 14‌ Plus, the iPhone 14 Pro, and the ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max as the new iPhone series.

The two higher-end models of the lineup, the ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ and ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max, are expected to feature the biggest changes, including a new pill-shaped notch replacement, an always-on display, longer battery life, and more advanced cameras. According to rumors, the ‌iPhone 14‌ and ‌iPhone 14‌ Plus will have relatively few new features and changes.

For the Apple Watch, Apple is planning an updated Apple Watch Series 8 that is rumored to feature an all-new body temperature sensor but retains the same design as the Apple Watch Series 7.

The bigger Apple Watch news is likely to be the new Apple Watch Pro, which will feature an all-new larger design with a more expansive display targeted toward athletes. Apple is also expected to announce the second-generation ‌AirPods Pro‌ during the event, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

MacRumors will have in-depth coverage of Apple's event, which kicks off at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, including a live blog on our website and tweets via @MacRumorsLive on Twitter. For a full rundown of everything we expect to see, be sure to check out our guide.

Event should go live in just over 4 hours.

I'm in on a new watch potentially. My 5 is still working well so I will wait to see the features before deciding.

nothing of interest for me. i am tempted to get the iPhone 14 but my current iPhone is working well. the new Watch Pro looks ugly as fuck and I don't use AirPods.

Any news aggregator apps you would recommend on iPhone? The apple news one lets you block stuff… but still pushes the same crap to you just saying you have blocked it. I refuse to support google when ever possible so that takes theirs news out.

I want something that is fairly even on coverage and pulls from lots of sources. Doesn’t have to be free, just needs to be good.

I'm still on iPhone 7 which is working great, but won't be getting OS updates anymore and I have to rotate apps with the limited storage.

Definitely interested in seeing what will be new with iPhone 14.

If they finally manage to fix the blownout highlights in photos. I might switch camps.
This sounds more like an issue of HDR display.

I went from an 8 to a 12 and it was a very nice upgrade.

No usb c, not really interested.
yup. i would probably abandon all rational thought and replace my perfectly fine 12 pro max with a 14 pro max but the lack of USB-C is turning me off.

wtf apple. lightning isn't BAD i mean it charges my phone so great but it's 2022 fuck sake put USB C in your damn phones you idiots.

Far out, like their prices putting their products far out of reach.
can't wait to see the new prices. rumors say there is a big price hike coming today.

I have a 13 and I'm going to try to hold out until the inevitable under the display camera.
early rumors suggest iPhone 15 pro models will have slimmed down "pill" cut out next year. maybe the basic iPhone 15 will have a pill cut out but it could be the one we're about to get.

I can't see any iPhone coming with an under display face id or camera sensor until 2024 at the very earliest. look how far Apple has ridden the notch (since 2017) so i doubt they will be in much rush to ditch the pill. After all, they need something to scream iPhone and i can't see them ditching that after just a year or two...or even 3. It's been 5 years since iPhone X.

In for Airpod Pro 2s. First gen pros are too useful. The rest remains to be seen.
This is what I need. My 12 Pro is 100% still great except for battery capacity being down to 85%. My airpod pros are another story, left is totally blown out and noise canceling hasn’t worked right since they were about a year old. So bring on that new gen, the phones can go longer than 2 years now but airpods seem to have a pretty consistent expiration date

what makes AirPods so good?

i'm being serious. i've never owned them but wouldn't be against trying them. to me they seem like standard bluetooth earphones. i love my sony earphones and i don't get the fuss for AirPods. alright, my Sony earphones take a bit of effort to set up and i know Airpods "just work" on iOS. are you happy with the audio quality/noise cancelling/battery life?

That’s like 2-3 years away at the earliest.
if Apple ever decide to bother releasing a foldable phone.

This is very true. I guess I'll wait for their "next-gen" phone. They're still in the X era.

Noise cancellation, sound and call quality, integration.

Answer I tell everyone: It just works and the quality is nice.

My real answer: It's trendy and the shade of white slaps

fair enough. no doubt some shit like "this is our iphone for the next 10 years" was said. most people couldn't tell the difference between an iPhone X and an iPhone 13.

i'm not sure what Apple can do to make a "next-gen" phone other than straight up making a full display device with absolutely no notch or visible sensors. For apple that seems like it's going to be a good 3-4 or even 5 years away. I mean the iPhone X is only 5 years old and if Apple have a 10 year plan it makes sense we might not see such a next gen iPhone until ~2027.

cool :) the most annoying thing about my earphones are how long they take to connect when taking them out their case and putting them in my ear. it's like a good 5-10 seconds at times. and i need to use the Sony app if i want to update the firmware or adjust equalizer or noise cancelling (without tapping the touch pads on the earphones which dont always work).

i can't justify getting rid of my earphones at the moment but maybe in the future i will give Airpods a try :)

what does that mean? is that good? does it mean better battery life?

suck up :messenger_tongue:
Active cancellation means the earbuds produce a wave that cancels the wave of sound directed at them. Thus zeroing out the sound wave directed towards your ears.

so nothing special?

It requires a separate receiver and transmitter. It is a known technology, but adds complexity to a device.
so what is the difference in noise cancellation between apple/sony earphones? i thought it was the same thing?

I don't know, you just need to know if they have active or passive. Passive means it just fits in the ear snuggly, Active means it emits a cancelling wave.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure that under-the-display camera tech has a huge demand. The iPhone has become a status symbol and people want you to know that they have one and that's where the notch comes in. Samsung is chasing an under-the-display camera with no bezel phone. As impressive as that may be, it's still boring which is basically Samsung's brand at this point.

Not sure what Apple can do either to stay trendy. The phone market is all-around dull and it's probably going to stay that way until something crazy comes out like a watch turning into a hologram screen or some shit.

Will upgrade the AirPods Pro's if there is any new features.
Also very interested in the pro watch for triathlon stuff , I'm still using the series3 from day 1.

I love my AirPods Pro, though I seem to be one of the small percentage on earth that gets a really bad ear infection from them (I clean them regularly, but still). Can’t use them anymore :(

As for the new iPhone: If the French rumors are true, the starting price in Europe will be 1019€ for the most basic one. With inflation and prices surging, how on earth will you pay for that? (I’m poor)

Still don't really have a reason to replace my XR, phones are kinda at the point where unless mine is broken there's nothing that'll get me to upgrade.

Could be interested in some pods.
