A Shining Example
Appreciate the replies. Guess I'll reserve it on Apple's website (or Amazon if that's possible). Like I said, I don't need it right away. I need it by first week of May at the latest though.

ipad 2 price cut from one retailer - clearing stocks ahead of ipad 3?

I think I'm going to put mine on sale next week. I can be without one for a few weeks. I really think Apple is gonna keep ipad 2 models around for 400 bucks this year and I don't want to wait to see my resale drop by almost 100 bucks in a single day.
cloudreader. you can transfer cbr, rar, zips and stuff via wifi through a browser. it's awesome, and it's free!

Is there some region protection on iPad 2? I can't use the Japanese app store on it, though I can on my iPhone and computer.
Just sold mine two days ago, engraved and with the smart cover, for $400. I kinda felt bad, but I really wanted to sell it before people got smart.
No, you should be able to log into or create a Japanese iTunes store account on the device.
For some reason, it can't connect. It gives me an unknown error whenever I try to download anything. I got the app (Gyakuten Saiban 123 HD) onto it from my computer, though IAP requires use of the store. I bought the IAP on my phone (it's a universal app,) but I want to use it on the iPad. Do I maybe have to log out of iMessage, iCloud and all that first?
Yeah I suspect the launch hype to follow the iPhone's pattern where it just gets crazier every year. I stood in line for the first iPad launch (well sub launch, 3G model) but hell with doing that again. Ordered the 2 at midnight and got it a few days after launch and will probably do the same again. There was a little scare cause the initial delivery estimate said like 2-5 weeks but it came quickly. There was a lot more excitement for iPad 2 than iPad 1 and I'd say iPad 3 hype has already more than exceeded iPad 2's and it hasn't even been revealed yet.
Was it an iMac or Mac Pro? That's weird since I've heard about mailing computers in for repairs, and sending out advance replacements if you want, but that may just be for smaller devices.I want to get an Ipad 3, but I have a mac, and last time I needed a repair Apple wouldn't let me send it by mail to get it repaired, and I had to drive 4 hours to the closest city with an apple store. I'm just overthinking, but in the case I need to repair it/get it replaced, do they allow to do it by mail or is the same policy as the macs?
I don't think I could sell early (cause my only other portable device is my iPhone) but I'm assuming if they do keep the 2 around at $400 or whatever, it'll be the 16GB model. I figure I could at least get a little premium since I have a 32GB and hope people don't care too much about the warranty ending soon.yeah, thats pretty much what Im hoping to get, smart cover included.
I figure I wont get more than 300 or 340 after the imminent announcement.

Just sold my 16GB Wifi ipad + smartcover for $400. Bring on iPad3, baby!
I would have kept the smart cover, supposedly it will work with iPad 3.
But maybe there will be a better, prettier smart cover!

Yeah, ComicGlass is still the best. It has filters, zoom lock, loads the fastest, and has the best overall reading experience. Zeal's reading controls haven't been updated in a year and a half, it still doesn't even do auto two-page view when the iPad is rotated to landscape. Bookman is good but doesn't sharpen when custom zoomed, so the image is all blurry.Reading: Glass < Zeal < Bookman (unless the zooming is fixed)
Getting comics on the ipad: Bookman (FTP or dropbox) < Glass (wireless webserver thing which is a bit more of hassle than FTP, dropbox?) <<< Zeal (it's own thing that I think still reconverts all your files into it's own thing).

For a free reader, CloudReaders is great.
As for getting files into the readers, I recommend an app like FileBrowser or FilesConnect. Just use those to browse your computer or NAS and then open the comics in your reader of choice.
I've been using ComicReader Mobi on my Android devices for the past few months and the most recent release is finally solid and bug free as far as I can tell. It also introduced a nifty new feature for learning languages while reading. Have you checked it out? It continues to provide the best Manga reading experience imo but then I haven't tried the other apps recently...
I spend at most minutes looking at the folders and covers, with minimal time spent organizing, and yet spend hours immersed in the comics pages. *shrug* I consider the reading experience the most important thing.Yeah, I wish Comic Zeal had horizontal two-page view. But still, CZ just looks the best and has the best organization and style, which for me, is the most important thing.
? Not sure what you mean by versatile (or which app you mean by perfect viewer for that matter). CRM opens cbr, rar, cbz and so on... I haven't used the other apps in a long while. I'll eventually have to reevaluate them one by one when the iPad 3 is released. Is it as versatile as perfect viewer?
Well if it looks like shit and the organization is all out of whack and nothing like it is on my computer, and cumbersome to categorize, than yes, I'll reconsider that application.I spend at most minutes looking at the folders and covers, with minimal time spent organizing, and yet spend hours immersed in the comics pages. *shrug* I consider the reading experience the most important thing.

The reading experience is important, but there isn't that much variation in quality between all the readers for that to be the pivotal factor in judging which to get.
CZ is able to price their app so high because people are willing to pay to get that kind of library organization and style.
Sorry but I just can't go using something as ugly as this;

Maybe it's just me, but UI matters.
Nope, i'm still waiting for this.Do any of you guys have a Bamboo stylus? My wife got me one today. Works great actually.
Nope, i'm still waiting for this.
Check out the video there, it's awesome, and it's the only stylus I can really see myself using tbh.
So this whole time you were talking about phone apps in an iPad thread?Fair enough, I still think CZ is wonderful and a great reader and collection organizer, it just gets bad slack since it's the dominant comic reader out there, and we all love to hate what's big and bad, etc.
If we're talking iPad though, "myComic" is a pretty awesome option.
Use CZ myself, via Dropbox, it works fine I guess, I just wish we could bulk download instead of one comic at a time.
So this whole time you were talking about phone apps in an iPad thread?
Maybe you could actually articulate why CZ is better than Glass without resorting to "haters gonna hate". Not why you think CZ is good, why CZ is better. Like, explain in detail why the organization methods in CZ are better than in Glass.

All the more reason to abandon OneNote. Shitty mobile apps don't even open all the OneNote desktop files properly. I wasted my time investing in that ecosystem. Never again... except perhaps for a 5" W8 tablet with pen...I don't like the dongle, it seems laggy in the video and it's not an universal solution, so it's useless for OneNote.
Other than that it's pretty cool and probably a joy on the iPad 3.
Adonit should be releasing a new pen for the Jot series including a digitizer soon. It'll have bluetooth, rechargeable batteries and pressure sensitivity! too which would make it better than this iPen.I picked up a Jot Pro a while ago. Works great for the once in a blue moon I want a stylus.
Wow, that's awesome. Didn't know there were other similar technologies out there. Does it work across a bunch of apps as iPen does? It's been one delay after another though. I'm edging closer to ordering the ByZero pen instead. I hope to get one or the other before the iPad 3 launch.
Heh. Well I already did a lot of that, but to me more specific, I think it is better in organization methods and use of that intuitive slider to categorize series or subfolders however you need to.So this whole time you were talking about phone apps in an iPad thread?

On smaller screen sizes the usability of CRM is leaps and bounds better. regular page
The killer feature, the zoom box
For what it's worth, I've written elsewhere on why the UI of CRM is better than the UI of CZ.So this whole time you were talking about phone apps in an iPad thread?

I feel like I'm the only one on this board who doesn't read comics.
Me neither.I feel like I'm the only one on this board who doesn't read comics.
