My iPad finally shipped last night from Shenzen. Unfortunately looks like it won't be delivered until Wednesday. So much for fast free shipping being fast (and they wouldn't allow changes to the shipping on the iPad for some reason).
My Smart Cover's delivery estimate is the 22nd, and yet it's out for delivery as we speak (3 days, or really about 2.75 days, after shipping out of Shenzen). I'm in Connecticut, so it's not like I'm right on the West Coast.

I'd say you ought to expect your iPad on Monday.

Again, is Target a good place to sit at in the morning? I just showed up at one and there's not a person here. I have an Apple store 10 minutes north of me, but I'm sure there will be a line.

My Smart Cover and iPad were both in Memphis, TN at 12:30 AM, but the cover is now in my town while the iPad is still hanging out down south. Get with the program, iPad delivery people!

Like I said earlier in the thread I picked mine up from target around this time, Target next to my job opens at 8AM called around 9 and by 930 I had an iPad. The guy said they couldn't hold them but when I went in and saw I asked and he had one put away for me...might of just gotten lucky or caught them early enough before people bugged them. Granted they only got three in 2x32GB and 1X64GB.

Thanks. Was this yesterday? I think I'll just wait here but I won't get my hopes up.

Can anyone else with the issue confirm?

Some Apple employees said as much last week, that it'd go away in a week or two.

That reminds me, we need to meet up so I can finish the compare videos.

Well I would have up to a year to exchange it, so I guess no harm in waiting.

My iPad 2 was finally shipped last night. Says it's coming Wednesday. :(

UK iPad 2 launch could be delayed:

Rumours are building that next week's planned UK launch of the Apple iPad 2 could be delayed.

A report from iSuppli estimates that at least five key components of the device (including the battery and compass) are manufactured in Japan. And with the country still suffering severe disruption following last week's earthquake, sourcing these parts could prove very difficult.

The machine has already seen its Japanese launch postponed.

In addition, the device has been a bigger success than even Apple itself expected in America, shifting in the region of 1m units over its opening weekend. US customers are currently facing a four to five week wait for their orders to arrive.

it's only been a week. supply constrained launches can last for a while. see: The iPad and The Wii.

oh, and I hate to say it but that picture of the iPad on the tweed jacket, jaunty pocket square and the black rimmed glasses? that's some good old-fashioned hipster shit, man :)
Definitely haha.

But dat red!

had mine since last friday, hasn't gone away at all. I have one pretty good one on the bottom right when holding it in landscape near the home button and then small ones on each other side.

no luck here in nyc we camped from 5am at 14th st and nothing still got there to late. my 3rd time trying to get a ipad that early and i have officially given up, theres no point in nyc to even try scalpers got it on lock. Now im gonna get me a nice laptop for the price and then later in the year just buy one

Actually giga, after running some more tests with FaceTime between a MBP (13") and an iPhone 4, when you're on fullscreen mode (on the Mac) and getting a landscape feed, there are a couple of small, maybe 1inch, black borders on each side.

However, that feed is coming from the iPhone 4 front camera, so it'd same on the new MBP.

But maybe if the feed comes from one of these new MBPs, there's no borders. I don't know. But of course, on FaceTime, the benefits of an improved camera will be reflected not on yours, but on the other end ;)

Funny thing though, I liked the picture showed on the iPhone (which comes from the Mac) better than the one on the Mac (which comes from the iPhone).

sorry for the off-topic y'all

Surely if they were planning on shipping to 25 countries on the 25th, they should have bulked up a lot of devices to be ready. I would have thought that a week before there were already being shipped all over Europe.

I hope so at least!

WOW. didnt think demand would last until now.

I called the Verizon store yesterday and they said that orders would take 2-3 weeks to come in. I went in this morning and they said that the warehouse was out of stock and their computers wouldn't even let them place an order :/

For anyone else that ordered online- My order was entered at 4 A.M EST last Friday morning. I got the "prepared for shipment" Monday, "Shipped" on Tuesday. It will be in my hands in New Jersey later today. (just to give people a time frame).

Which online store? I think apple.com has like a four or five week wait.

after a few days with the ipad 2, i am totally appreciating the speed boost and performance increase. not that the ipad 1 didn't feel seamless, but everything is just super snappy and responsive on the ipad 2.

and for some reason, safari feels a lot better than icab. not sure what it is or maybe because it's developed by apple but the ipad 2 has definitely given safari some new life. i'm gonna test it for a week and see if i miss icab. tabs really aren't that big of a deal when switching windows is super fast in safari. i sorely miss full screen browsing though. big thumbs down to apple for not allowing safari to go full screen.

Thanks for this link. Do you know if this is real time stock?
According to people at MacRumors, it is. After they buy it and check immediately afterwards, it goes to "Limited Availability" or "Out of Stock." If you go to that thread, you'll see that some people have even convinced the store clerks to check their store machines or to go in the back and the employees find them when the employees originally thought they were out of stock. Some stores display things inaccurately though. Finally, it seems like places like NYC have a ton of people checking them, so there's still difficulty because Target only gets like 3-5 iPads at a time.

Wow, AT&T are selling the top of the line iPad 1 (64 GB, 3G) for $529!

http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/18/atandt-slashes-prices-on-first-generation-3g-ipads-to-429-529/

As noted by The Loop, AT&T has once again slashed pricing on the 3G-capable models of the first-generation iPad, knocking another $100 of the 16 GB and 32 GB models and $200 off of the 64 GB model. On top of the original $100 discount that went into effect when the iPad 2 was announced, pricing is now set at $429 for the 16 GB 3G model and curiously at $529 for either the 32 GB or 64 GB model.

Despite the advertisement, the 32 GB model is currently showing as out of stock on AT&T's website, although it seems obvious that any customers at this point would opt for the 64 GB model at the same price point anyway.

The clearance pricing comes with the caveat that no returns or exchanges are permitted, but any purchases would of course be fully covered by Apple's warranty and Genius Bar support.

So you guys might think this is cool. The new update to LogMeIn enables a file system to send files from the iPad/iPhone to your PC or from your PC to the iPad/iPhone. It's pretty cool! Does not require the premium subscription. Works fine with the free version. Just have to buy the App [duh!

Thanks for the info. There's only one Target in the San Diego area that has any in stock, and it's only the white 64 GB model. I was only looking for a 32 for myself and a 16 for my fiancee. Part of me is saying to just get the 64 since I just got my tax refund, but another part is reminding me that I still have a lot of wedding stuff to pay for lol.

yea i noticed it updated yesterday. After talking to a coworker he said just get the ignition app. I've tried several others and none work as easily and seamlessly as logmein does(Really splashtop, i have to port forward?). The new update even shows me mapped network drives on my work PC from anywhere. And as you said it works with free version.

Whoops, should've posted this for you Mutagenic--how to tell if they'll have iPads in stock at your Target. You should use the tool like 2 hours before opening to check.

Cool link, but what sucks is the store I went to should have had one there. I went ahead and ordered one online through Apple. The delivery date is the 27th...of April. I wonder how hard it is to cancel an online order if I find one before then.

When is the wedding? Because my wife and I got TONS of money and giftcards for our wedding about three years ago and basically stocked up on all these things we wanted but would never spend money on, like a KitchenAid Stand Mixer. An iPad sounds like something wedding money should pay for! :)

Just log in to Apple website and hit cancel?

The wedding is in June, but I don't think I can hold off that long lol.

Well I guess the wedding money will get you both iPhone 5's or whatnot. :)
But I do heartily recommend getting that KitchenAid Artisan stand mixer. That thing is boss. And a Dyson vacuum. Those were the two big purchases we made with our wedding money.

OT: What do you make with that mixer?

Cookie batter, marshmallows (homemade is godly), doughs of all kinds (bread, pizza, rolls), brownies.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=26470684&postcount=9603
Everything in that post was made using the mixer, except the chocolate itself. But the cookies and marshmallow were all homemade.

The Artisan mixers are expensive, but oh so handy when making things.

On topic though, I do use my iPad in the kitchen to look up recipes and whatnot.

OT: If you havent registered for wedding stuff yet, Macy's is great because for a window after the wedding, you can get a discount on things from your registry that people didn't buy you. We would up getting luggage for like 80% off or something obscene like that. And the mixer was about half price. We intentionally asked for a few insane items for the wedding just to use the money after to get a big discount.

The real question is what can't you make with a Kitchen Aid mixer. They have attachments for everything.
Hummus and pesto would be hard. I don't think there are any attachments that really overlap with a Cuisinart food processor's core strengths.

Yup. We have not gotten the meat grinder or pasta maker attachments yet. But they are out there. Great kitchen appliance, or greatest kitchen appliance?

how is the browser? speed to load pages, and more importantly switching tabs without refreshing the page?
Significantly better in every way...and I'm using iCab, which isn't even getting the faster JS engine (and probably some other speical stuff for now). I'm thinking third parties will have to wait for 5.0 for that, if WebKit2 is ready by then.

I'm actually hoping the it stays so I can get a new one at 11 months in or so. The hell with protecting the back, I'll just get a replacement iPad eventually for the backlight bleed!

Would anyone that has an iPad 2 mind checking the GAF PC Screenshot Thread? I get tons of question mark place holders on my 4th gen iPod touch and I was wondering how much of a difference the increased RAM in the iPad would make.
Loaded everything on that front page at least...well there were 6 blue boxes, but checking the links it seems like those were legitimate 404s rather than the iPad choking on it.

Is your iPod on 4.3 yet? They changed something up with the memory management so stuff with a bunch of pictures loads better now. Like on my old iPad The Big Picture would give it a bunch of blue boxes, but after 4.3 I was able to load two tabs of it without anything missing.

Two questions:

1. Is there any way to view H.264 encoded MKVs without conversion or jailbreaking?
2. Anyone played both the iPad and iPhone versions Mirror's Edge? What's the difference?
