Sounds like you need a cover for your cover. You do understand the purpose of a cover right?
Yes I do, but when a $5 ipad sleeve can handle being taken out of a messenger bag better then an $80 piece of leather, there is a problem.

Dead Space iPad is 99 cents today, was going to buy it for when my iPad 2 gets here next week but I cannot download itunes. The iTunes page on Apple.com is all whacked out and there is no download button...

I have it, it's awesome. Even if I suck at it, DJ Hero made it look so easy...

sweet... apparently my roommate has an old apple tv, too so i'm gonna pump out some dubstep mixes over the apartments 5.1 B-)

It looks like EA's about to do another one of their big 99¢ sales on all their apps. NBA Jam will be mine!

Any idea how it controls? God I loved NBA Jam back in the day. But I loathe virtual controls on anything action...

Finally got a smart cover for my wife's iPad 2. Holy fuck it's pretty damn slick, especially with the auto locking. Plus it's really unobtrusive when placed on the keyboard dock.

Looks like I'm gonna have to replace my first gen soon, wallet be damned.

No idea. People in the iOS gaming thread might know better. The sale hasn't hit the US yet, but a bunch of Euro stores just had all their EA games dropped to the equivalent of 99¢.

No idea how it controls on the iPad, but I loved the iPhone/Touch version, though it took a little getting used to. This is coming from a guy who hates virtual controls. Turns out I hated the regular controls on 360 but liked the touch controls. Go figure.

Thanks, just bought it!

Yeah, drives me crazy. Sketchbook Pro feels completely useless unless you like finger painting or doing huge chalk drawings.
I actually did my avatar on sketchbook pro with a griffin stylus.

Not bad for a finger painting program

yes, exactly, it FEELS more like a real pen. all the stylus(styli?) i've used are like crayons and it's difficult to be accurate with them.

WACOM is coming out with their own stylus for the ipad.

Re: browsers other than Safari, I posted this on the last page before the guy that asked about it:

Another decent browser just came out, Sleipnir. Technically it came out for iPhone a few months ago but just got an iPad update now it looks like.

Seems kinda nice once you get used to it, at least as a pretty basic browser. You open tabs in the background by holding down on links, it's a quicker process if you do this a lot, but the lack of menu is obnoxious if you just want to copy a link (although you do get a menu when you tap on the address bar). On the iPad at least, you can also swipe left and right (when zoomed out) to switch tabs, and has a gesture to close tabs, all that seems to work nicely.

Again it's pretty basic, but overall feels pretty polished. It could be pretty nice if you want a nicer Safari alternative for tabbed browsing but not that much more (like all the extra stuff iCab has).

Edit: video of it in action does it more justice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmNbZSo3Cy4
I've been using it today and generally like it. The main thing that's been bugging me is that on Google search pages from the search bar (which sometimes have some redirect code) it just doesn't work to open the links for whatever reason. That and I can't get into my school site with it cause it won't load past the expired/invalid security certificate (...which the school should take care of really), whereas Safari and iCab let you ignore the warning and continue.

Well one other thing is with the hold to open in tab thing, when the link is an image (like on the forum here) it pops up a menu to save the image or open the tab, kind of annoying when 99.9% of the time I'd likely rather open the link.

And it looks pretty much like the Boxwave and others, the usual nubby ball tip.

You can get a subscription (print and ipad) for a dollar a week. Well worth it, though I kinda like the Businessweek layout a little more, I think.
Where did you get your subscription? Online on its website it is $2+ per issue.

So I'm using my iPad to assist in my plans to learn French.

You know what would be great? If in the Kindle app, highlighted words could be translated on-the-spot.

That would be the most amazing use of the technology for me, and so simple and practical.

As opposed to sitting down with a book and flicking through a French-English dictionary, one can simply read the text in its original language, and highlight words on the fly that they don't know.

In fact, support for learning languages is all round pretty shit on the iPad - such a missed opportunity for the technology.

That's up to app developers. Learning Chinese is great with Pleco.

Thanks for the heads up! I saw your post earlier and searched for it on my iPad. The search results said $0.99 but when I clicked on the game and went to it's page, the buy button said $9.99. So I went back to the search results page and purchased it by clicking the button that had 99 cents on it. They better not charge me the ten bucks for it or else I'm gonna raise a ruckus!

I don't know its been mentioned yet in this thread, but everyone needs to get "qwiki" its another Wikipedia/internet aggregator similar to "discover". Only it has an amazing presentation, and it reads the article to you. Cool stuff.

This same thing happened to me so I immediately checked my purchase history and it has 99 cents as the purchase price.

All right. Going to try to exchange my red smart cover at the Apple Store. The damage of every day use has made it looked like I have rubbed it against sand paper. I take care of my stuff so well, no rough use at all. The leather is just too soft and susceptible to damage, especially at the price.

? I got the blue leather smart cover and well, it still look good. I do put the ipad + cover into a pouch from belkin though... :P

If you find anything for French make sure to mention it as I'd be interested as well.

Question all. I am at my parents' place using my mom's iPad and want to watch gametrailers tv from last night. Every other video on their site has a "play on iPhone" button you hit, but gttv doesn't. Any way to see the latest gttv on here?

Also another question, some forums and sites you cannot get the keyboard to pop up so you can type in reply boxes, is there any way around this?

Ah yeah, I've seen this once or twice too. Don't know of any work around unfortunately.

Today I came across a site that said "please update to a modern browser with HTML5 support" I was like uhhhhh

What site?

Any suggestions for good remote desktop apps? Ideally I'd like something to use at work where I can access my desktop while I'm in a meeting.

Reposting this from the manga thread:
I've been using the lite version of Manga Storm on my iPad and I like it so far. Before I purchase the full app, I'd like to know if there's a better (online) manga reader available. Any tips?

Finally bought Atomic Browser.

Wow does this thing make Safari look like a piece of crap.
What's so good about Atomic?

I'm one of the big iCab proponents, but I've been using Sleipnir (posted on the last page about it) and generally like it better. It doesn't have all the features of the others, but in general the UI is just a lot nicer feeling and looking.

...other than the Google search having an issue with the resulting page (clicking the Search button on the page gets around it for now).

Is that the issue where you can't just get the keyboard focus on anything? If so I've seen that before, I think the workaround is to force the focus on something else, like the address/search fields or something in a new tab.

No idea why Atomic became the more talked about independent browser. iCab should be getting the love

I have been using Maven, and like it pretty well. Really like the dual-screen layout, as it makes me more productive on the toilet.

Dual browsing and pooping at the same time? This comes to mind for some reason:
