You should use the links in that thread to check stock before heading out. The results won't be 100% real-time, but it should be fairly accurate. Also you should check more than once during the day, as I've seen Target go from out of stock to available mid-day.

Thanks for this link. I've been using it to check stock over the past week or so and I was able to walk in and nab a black 32gb wifi from Best Buy today. I haven't even opened it yet, but I'm really looking forward to my first tablet.

Yes. Remote needs to be controlled from the iPad media controls. If only so I don't have to switch to the app to do the same thing.

But whatever. I don't care about this discussion anymore.

By opening the iPod app (or any other app that makes use of this feature on your iPad) and starting playback. The controls for that app would then take over. So basically it controls whatever the last supported app you were playing back from.

Problem solved.

*grumble* >:|

I see the appeal, but I still think it should remain for the iPad.

mine has a fair bit of bleeding along the bottom and the bottom-corners, but I never noticed it until I cranked the brightness (MY EYES), so I'm not entirely sure I feel right swapping it out when in reality it's no skin off my nose.

They shouldn't feel right selling you a shoddy $500+ device, but it's a matter of personal preference I guess.

I didn't think mine would bother me til I sat down to watch Netflix in the dark. Black letterbox borders, very distracting.

I dont know what the right term for it is, I think its light bleeding, but I just got my ipad and I want to know how to check for it. If anyone could help me I would appreciate it

I did that, no dice.

I have. Neogaf was my last resort :(
Are you sure it's linked to your store account? Goto settings and then store- make sure your appleid is listed. When you goto the AppStore the app you bought should say install.

Did they finally change this? It used to always say buy, and told you you already bought it after you clicked.

Regardless, the guy's problem is with an in-app purchase. I,ve heard there are different ways to implement in-app purchases, some of which require repurchasing (ie one off purchases)

Don't hold me to this... Some purchases will redownload for free after you click buy, and some, like smurfberries or mighty eagle in games, require you to buy each time.

Surprisingly, when I got my iPad, I copied over all my old iPhone SD Angry Birds data using iPhone Explorer and the Mighty Eagle actually came with it. I didn't have to rebuy it on the iPad version. Not sure if it's a bug, oversight or not a big deal. But since I now mainly play the game on my iPad, it was all I needed. And I didn't even mean to transfer it. I just wanted my progress.

Yeah I think they changed it before the iPad 2 came out- it should say install or update for all stuff you bought now instead of just buy.

In app purchases have to carry over. You need to check this or email apple

My hipstamatic iphone camera paks all carried over. plus all the magazines I already paid for on DWELL + Trends magazine all carried over.

Yeah I noticed this too. It really is about damn time they got around to that.

Hi guys, just got an ipad2 and loving it. What is the best app for word, excel, ppt? I see a lot of people complaining about Pages, I guess there are formatting issues when switching to and from Word? What abut documents to go?

Able to grab an ipad2 on tue. aft.

Bought some apps at the apple store, came home and synced it to itunes. Had a scary moment when I did not "manually" manage song and almost blew my new beauty up with the wifes 3000 songs she has on itunes.

Then saw there was an os update, but when I went to update- got a message "all apps and current settings will be deleted" (or something similar).

This is my first experience with an apple product.

How exactly do I update the ipad2 to the latest os. And if it backed up the 8 apps I downloaded while at the apple store- why can i not see them in itunes/ where are they?

Is it me or is itunes as cumbersome and obtuse as the ipad2 is steamlined and elegent?

At the Sydney applestore and they now have stock of the red smart cover and damn, if I don't prefer that over my navy.

Wondering if I should buy it...

A lot of TV channels got Time Warner to take their streaming channels off their app.

We believe we have every right to carry the Fox Cable Networks, Viacom and Discovery programming on the iPad app. But, for the time being, we have decided to focus our iPad efforts on those enlightened programmers who understand the benefit and importance of allowing our subscribers – and their viewers – to watch their programming on any screen in their homes.

In the meantime, we will pursue all of our legal rights against the programmers who don’t share our vision. The enthusiasm of our customers and the programming partners who have embraced the app, rather than those who are solely focused on finding additional ways to reach into wallets of their own viewers, has convinced us more than ever that we are on the right path.

We will continue to fight to ensure that our customers have access to the content they pay for, no matter which screen in their home they choose to view it on.

Specifically, the following channels are being removed:

Animal Planet
BET
CMT
Comedy Central
Discovery Channel
FX
MTV
National Geographic
Nickelodeon
Spike
VH1
Like I said, television is melting right now. The whole TV industry is sitting on a river that’s flowing fast into the future. Some programmers are kicking the currents with feeble karate and some are getting in a boat and pulling oars along with us for the good of our customers — the people who already paid for all of this and want it really, really badly.

Be wary of these. Make sure you read the users comments. One of them is so negative I'd didnt get it
Yeah that's why I came here to ask. Some of the comments scare me. Anyone have any real experience with either?

iTunes can be cumbersome and obtuse if you are of a certain frame of mind, but once you 'understand' iTunes, it actually makes a little sense.

Apps you've purchased on your AppleID will 'sync' to your iTunes on your computer, and transfer across (and vice versa). They should appear under a heading called 'Apps'. the update to latest OS for your iPad will happen when you sync to iTunes -your computer will inform you an update is available and prompt you to update.

Okay I have two quick questions. Whats a really good note taking app? I just downloaded pages and evernote but neither is giving me the organization that I want, I.e the ability to create folders,. And my second is how do I download pics from various websites, like the ones mentioned in the OP,. I tried taking a photo of the one that I wanted but when it also took a photo of the safari address bar.

I bought quick office, but then i refunded it since I wanted a multi level bullets/numbering. It's features are pretty basic: font color, highlight, indent, paragraph justified, margin, bold (etc), dropbox (whyni bought it), and it has AirPrint

Document to go looked more robust, but I'm waiting for the premium version to drop down the price (it has dropbox feature)

To save a pic, I think you tap and hold.

Am I the only one who actually like Pages? It does the job, has a great interface, and is exactly what I need out of a word processor on a tablet.

So if you could easily steal it that would equate to buying it?
Nah, just my guestimate that 90% of photoshop owners today have a pirated copy. I would be pleasantly surprised if this sold well on iOS. Guess it all comes down to price point, right?

Yeah, I bought it last week and absolutely love it. Was a bit confused at first but now the interface to me is just awesome.

I still like Writer as a nice pure writing tool with easy markup shortcuts, but for most doc usage Pages is the one to beat.

Agree some, ridiculous price is ridiculous.

That ComicGlass looks interesting too. The website's not great, though, so I can't really tell what its unique features are.
ComicGlass is great. It's the #1 comic reader app in Japan, so that might explain the website.

Basically it's the only app that does native cbr/cbz format besides Comic Reader Mobi, which is currently banned from the App Store (and Glass costs $2 compared to $15 they used to charge for Mobi). It has a ton of display options and a bookshelf catalog view that has a lot in common with iBooks. Extremely good alternative to ComicZeal; at $2 it's a steal.

With FileBrowser and a usb drive attached to my AirPort Extreme, I don't even have to have a computer on or bother syncing with iTunes to stream my comic collection to ComicGlass.

Try downloading the firmware separately:
http://appldnld.apple.com/iPhone4/041-0556.20110325.64rfg/iPad2,1_4.3.1_8G4_Restore.ipsw
Then shift or alt click the Update button if you're on Windows (option click on Mac) and select that .ipsw file. It'll update the OS in place without wiping and restoring everything like it usually does.

Try Simplenote.
You can easily use tags to create folders.
Check it out, it's free.

Potoshop is a professional tool set. There's cheap phot editing for the hobbyists. There's nothing wrong with what adobe charges for it and for the development of the tier 1 editing suits (premiere/photoshop/illustrator/indesign)

whats the best app to study korean??
Anki is the best app to study any language.

Edit: Oh, this is the iPad thread... I love Anki on iPhone/iPod, I don't think it's so great on the iPad.

yeah, and i just saw its 20€. damn :S

Keep in mind when I ask this that I'm a dummy that doesn't know how the iPad works (or magnets for that matter!) but when I have an app open and running and then I hit the home button and go to the browser and run a session and then hit the home button again and open another app ... are all those running concurrently? I ask particularly because I was fiddling with the Piano Virtuoso app yesterday and it kept freezing and stuttering and I was wondering if its just the app thats shit or if its because my iPad is being bogged down.

Awesome Website said:

Wooo, thanks to this awesome website I finally got my grimy hands on an iPad! After religiously checking the site at least twice a day for the past week or two, a Best Buy within my search radius had one in stock. I ran out on my lunch break and nabbed it up, along with a green smart cover. Now I just have to wait another 5 hours before I can get home and sync it up to my computer :(
