March 24th. :lol

It's hard for me to get to Apple Stores at a reasonable time where I live and Targets, Walmarts, and Best Buys here are terrible with stocking anything of value so I didn't even bother otherwise I'd have one already.

I was only asking because I ordered one last week and was just seeing how long orders were taking right now. I have tried using Target's inventory online, but it doesn't work at all around here.

Is there any need to buy an IPAD 2 if you are not on the go very often?
Yes. It is awesome for veging out on the couch or bed and is a better casual gaming device than most other handhelds.

70% of my use is around the house. If you consume loads of news, have RSS feeds, already use Google Reader, or visit a good few sites each day to keep up to date, then you will find uses for it whilst not on the go. It make consuming that stuff more fun (yes really, I know that sound stupid, but I like reading blog/articles more on this device than on a desktop/laptop). After a year of owning one, it is still my go to device when I wake up. Also, using the IMDb app when watching TV is now a thing for me

It comes into its own on the go though, but it is not what I would buy it for though.

I bring mine with me everywhere, but the vast majority of its use is at home.

Oh, and another cool thing about Splashtop is that you can play games like Civ V pretty smoothly (with audio).

It still says 2 to 3 weeks on the site (at least as of a few hours ago when I last checked) but yours will probably ship next week if it hasn't already.

This months issue of wired is free if you want to download it.
Just downloaded it, thanks.

Not sure if I would be newsstand pricing for this each month, but maybe after I finish reading this issue I will change my mind.

Fiancee fell asleep using her iPad. iPad fell off the bed onto the base of the lamp, causing a dent and getting the volume button stuck on max volume. Took it to the Apple store to get it checked out. The guy told us that they don't usually cover accidental damage, but he'd make an exception and replace the iPad. They didn't have any replacements in stock so we'll have it sometime next week. I love Apple's customer service! And I'm buying a case for my fiancee >_<

She should count herself lucky the iPad did not attack her in the face. Mine always dives straight for me when I fall asleep... and it got me once :/

Don't all the Chinese people stare at you?

What?

It's my most productive device. I barely use my iPhone anymore. Heck I barely touch my iMac.

Things I use the iPad for out of the home.

-School: Blackboard App, Pages & keynote, Filemaker and Wolframalpha not to mention Penultimate
-I use it for maps
-I bring it for my portfolio, photos, stills and videos.
-I also love to have a gaming/reading device for time to kill on break at work, school ect
-I use it on the set for my shooting script, clap board and model release forms.

had a 102F fever and low blood counts, so tried out how an iPad would work for 3 days in solitary confinement in a hospital with wicked WiFi. yay. fun. :/

especially with an IV line in an arm, it's hard to find any way to hold the iPad 2 for easy consumption on both a movable bed or reclining chair. i tried maybe 402 variations on the same theme and ultimately loved few of them. must buy an ipad stand tomorrow AM.

read a ton of GAF threads but hated contributing since the transition from both a hardware keyboard and the iPhone 4's thumb keyboard was rather hard. stupid IV line, stupid chairs. learned to love Flipboard, Reeder and Netflix so much more since all I had to focus on was enjoying a range of content without futzing with trying to expect the same workflow out of a PC or laptop.

oddly enough, the only keyboard i found usable was the iPhone 4 sized keyboard blown up 2x in non-native apps. can cradle the iPad2 in my hands while typing away with my thumbs using muscle memory. felt nice.

Would you consider using something like Dragon Dictation (Voice to Text)?

My only problem with Atomic and browsing GAF is sometimes pages don't load fully, almost like it just loads a cached version over and over unless I hit reload. I guess I could clear the cache but I think I'd lose all my log-in's and that would be annoying.

And yeah the icon is kind of fugly but I got over it.

never experienced this. Ipad1 maybe. But not on ipad2

fuck. that didn't even cross my mind.

the entire time i kept thinking to myself 'should've bought the fucking MBP'. :/

iPads are everywhere at work and at more social upscale places I go or the regular library/coffee house type places.

Maklershed, get Star Walk. It's a window to the sky. One of the coolest apps.

I purchased both scrabble and monopoly. Holy shit, gold. That was the best 3 hour car ride ever! Fun to play with others

Yeesh! Monopoly is 10$. Did you get it on sale? I would honestly get it if it didn't cost the same as it does in stores for me to buy.

I think $5. I guess it'd be a good buy, but having a usb disk in my AirPort Extreme has pretty much given me access to all my media files without needing to have a computer running as a server.

I almost ran over an executive at work today because he was too busy twiddling on his iPad.

I upgraded to the new OS.

Did you check to see if you may have unchecked syncing them in iTunes? Or it could have done that automatically when it installed the new OS...

currently sitting in starbucks an having a good time with the ipad. just saying haha
btw, i really think its the most useful and handy device i bought in recent years.

So it's safe to say every single person who ever takes their iPad out of the house is here on GAF right now. Which means my dad is the fifth. I wonder which GAF user he is...

lol, right.
