Apple iPhone 6S |OT|

This :( The A7 is still performing like a champ and the camera is still good at taking photos.
My 5S is great but 16GB storage doesn't cut it, and the battery is starting to go.
What's OIS?
Optical image stabilization. It means there are camera elements that compensate for movement, which allows steadier video and slower shutter speeds for taking photos.

Just found out the answer to my own questions, just as an FYI for anyone else on T-Mobile:

http://newsroom.t-mobile.com/news/t...g-your-phone-with-jump-and-jump-on-demand.htm

tl;dr - You can call a number at 12:01 to arrange a JoD and they will email you an e-signature, which secures your place in line once signed. That sounds reasonable. Good stuff.

Edit: Oops, beaten. But yeah, I'm just going to give them a buzz at 12:01 and get it handled then.

Thanks so much for this! I just switched to T-mobile and have know idea how their JUMP! program works. :p

So right now im on ATT unlimited data planand my bill is liek $82. Looked into the Next thing and my bill would be $100 before taxes and tacked on bs fees. How exactly is this a better deal for me? I keep seeing people say youll save money, but i aint seeing it...

Is it to early to ask for recommending a wallet case for the iPhone 6s+ ? I would like a nice one priced $70 and up. Also one that looks professional or looks like a book

Same here. I'd love a wallet case, but they are all so terrible. The block the camera, or the flap doesn't magnetize to preventing random flapping, or they only have room for 3 cards, or whatever. They are all so compromised and crappy that I don't understand how anyone can use them.

One of these days I'll get some leather and try to make my own.

You don't. It's crap for us. If you want to stay with AT&T you basically have to pay for the phone outright with a bit of the cost deflected based on what you trade in. You're looking at a $400+ day if you want to keep unlimited. I don't particularly mind that, but it's still lame.

Q: If I have $15 pricing on iPhone 6, can I keep it?
Absolutely, just upgrade to a new iPhone 6s before end of year, and you can keep your promotional pricing ($15 for iPhone 6 and 6s; $19 for iPhone 6 Plus and 6s Plus) for 18 more months!
Is anyone going to just get a $15 iPhone 6 now then immediately get a 6s?

Didn't someone say you could get subsidized pricing on the AT&T website?

If you stay on Unlimited data, you absolutely don't save money

Im fine with paying the the money up front on the 2 year contract, thats basically $16 a month when I think it would be 27ish on Next

Im not following, it woudlbe cheaper for me to stay with my unlimited plan and doing the normal 2 year contract. What am i missing.

Sorry, I meant that if you plan on staying with unlimited data, then yes, doing a device payment plan instead of a 2-year subsidized phone would make you spend more money. If you want to keep unlimited data, don't do AT&T Next

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
I've officially decided I'm going to switch from unlimited grandfathered data to NEXT with 20GB.

On the family plan, I go from paying (three people, bill split evenly three ways):

~65/month for cell service
~$850 for the phone up front, with the ability to sell for about $400 in a year, so $450 net

Total: $1,230

On NEXT, with my family, I'll personally pay:

~$80/month for cell service
~$40/month for the phone

Total: $1,440

So, I'll be paying about $210 more, but it's over the course of the year and I don't have to "worry" about selling it. Additionally, I've made an agreement with my family that I'll keep 14GB/month. So I pay $210 more a year to be able to avoid throttling past 5GBs, and the ability to hotspot.

*shrug*

2gb confirmed anywhere yet?

haven't followed since announcement

We won't get a 2GB confirmation until:

1) We see a teardown and examine the chips inside

Or

2) An early owner runs Geekbench app on the device

Apple have never commented on the amount of RAM in their iOS devices.

Or if someone opens safari and tries to open several pages and switch between them, to see if they will reload

Verizon contract ends on October first. Pretty good timing for me..I plan to switch to T-Mobile anyway and go back to iPhone. My Galaxy S6 experience started out great but all the slow downs are pissing me off when I'm trying to type.

Or if someone opens up one Safari tab and then starts playing something on Apple Music, then checks back to see if that one tab reloads

Someone must have tried that when they got the hands on of the iPhone. Right? RIGHT?!

Like, it's the most obvious thing to do if you can't get the information. At least try something yourself.

So it looks like we're never getting an iPhone at the 5/5s physical size again huh?
Might be next year with a reiteration on the design since the S series doesn't bring a whole new design with it. I thought rumors said a new smaller phone was coming out this year but they later said it got delayed.

I don't believe they will go back to 4" screen though. But yeah, they should reduce bezel size and make the phone a bit smaller, but it won't get to the 5 physical size. No way.

Might happen with the iPhone 7. I don't think they felt any pressure this year since they're still offering the 5S as the "free" phone, but next year it'll get phased out. They could have like an iPhone 7C to fit into the size

So we should go get on jump on demand before the Iphone 6s+ launch or join at the time of purchase of the Iphone 6s+? If we join now we lose one of the 3 upgrades per year when we get the Iphone 6s+ right?

So I've definitely decide to switch to T-Mobile with the 6S. I've been with ATT since the first iPhone (technically it was Cingular then) and have the grandfathered unlimited data plan, but they started throttling me last month because I was streaming Apple Music often. That was the last straw for me.

The iPhone Upgrade Program seems interesting, but it requires you to purchase the phone in-store (aka waiting in line). Ain't nobody got time for that.

One thing that's interesting on that page though...at the bottom it says "You can either pay in full or choose carrier financing." In the past, you haven't been able to buy an iPhone at full price on Day One. This seems like a tacit admission that the 2-year contract days are about over.

I'm rocking a 16gb 6, use icloud and I can tell you this is bulllllllllshit. Even if you have the optimized photos feature on, you can't store shit. You wanna add another couple of pictures to every photo? Forgedaboudit!

I use a 16gb 6+ and the only issue I have ran into is when I have too many games installed. I just uninstall a couple and everything is smooth. I always seem to have 2-5gb free.

No need to store music.
No need to store photos.
No need to store videos.
Put all the photos in a family shared iCloud that my wife and I use.

iCloud optimization only reclaims the space when it needs to. Your phone usage will always say you are near full but it will offload more photos to the cloud as you need the space for something else like apps.

Yes, they are offering unlocked phones at the start now. Not SIM-free phones, but unlocked phones. HOWEVER, there is still a GSM model and a CDMA model. Make sure you get GSM for T-Mobile

My carrier is being messy with my plan again, going to call them again tomorrow to make sure they didn't screw anything up.

Fortunately looks like there's a lot less hype around this model and the call center said demand was tiny compared to last year. Hopefully that means less website crashes and no stock delays.

T-Mobile already answered this question.

Current JoD customers can call the Tmo customer service at 12:01am pst (on the 12th) to preorder the phone. Customer service will send something to your email you need to e-sign. The phone then gets shipped to your house and you have 14 days to return your old iphone. (assuming you are doing the free upgrade)

Non JoD customers can preorder in-store on 9/12.

All JoD customers who preorder before 9/14 are given priority status over those non JoD customers or JoD customers ordering later than 9/14.

My advice to you is to go to the store and get on JoD today or tomorrow. Then call the customer service at midnight.
If that isn't feasible just go to the store in the early AM and hope their system is still up and that too many existing JoD customers didn't push you to second shipment.

I have two lines with iPhone 6s that have installment balances without Jump or JOD, can I still preorder online on Saturday? Is there any way to move my current lines into the Jump program? The FAQ didn't address that. I tried calling T-Mobile, but at this hour, I'm talking to outsourced customer support that has a hard time with English.

The only way to move to JoD is to completely pay off the EIP of said line. JOD can also only be set up in a corporate owned T-Mobile store until they get the online process up and running.

You can preorder a 6S all you want. You won't get priority 6S shipping until your EIP is payed off and you are on the JoD program. U.S. JoD folks jump ahead of all the non JoD folks.

Thanks, looks like I have some work to do tomorrow at a T-Mobile Store.

The one thing I still don't get from these hands on demos is how quick is the 3D Touch? If I tap really quickly, but hard, is it the same thing? So many of these people in these videos hold down their fingers. Do I have to hold it down? If so, then I do agree with the people saying "what's the difference between this and a long tap?". Like, I can tap the screen and open an app very quickly, almost instantaneous from when my finger hits the glass and leaves. If I do it at the same speed, but stronger, do I get the 3D touch or what? Has anyone seen a video where they do a 3D touch with great force at a quick speed?

I'm really interested in the iPhone payment thing that's similar to all the other carriers. I may end up doing it next year when my contract with my ex-girlfriend expires.

Is there any more info about it anywhere?
