Isn't the 6s still running on a gig of ram? Anyway tiny improvements aren't worth the upgrade in my opinion. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4, and its good enough for me.

Isn't the 6s still running on a gig of ram? Anyway tiny improvements aren't worth the upgrade in my opinion. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4, and its good enough for me.
It's a bigger jump than from 5s to 6.
Exact same thing? 3D Touch, A better front facing camera, an improved back camera at 12MP, 2GB of RAM, a new processor/SoC, 2x faster Touch ID...?

Yeah I thought the 6/6+ was very disappointing. Outside of Apple pay there was little in the way of new features, and outside of the requisite processor bump there was little reason to upgrade beside the larger displays. The 6S on the other hand was everything I hoped for.

Yup, and I've had a 6+ since launch day, and it has ALWAYS run slower than my finance's regular 6. Same can be said when I compare my friends' phones of both sizes.
The 6+ struggles with the rotation animation, and skips frames in the multi-tasking pane, as well as when bouncing in and out of apps quickly. The 6 is pretty much flawless (save for the next comment).
Mixed with 1GB of RAM resulting in constant app and page refreshes, the iPhone 6+ has been, without a doubt, the most buggy iPhone I've ever had, in comparison to what's out there.
Are you for real? Literally everything about this phone has been improved considerably.
Many of the improvements are far from "tiny".
Even if they were, you have to realize that most users don't upgrade every year. I'm still rocking a 4s, and this will be a HUGE upgrade.

Yes, but that's not 4x the graphics processing. I really wouldn't worry about it.
Is it not? That usually would be the case in traditional desktop computing. For instance a 4k monitor requires four times the graphical processing power compared to a 1080p monitor.

Even Intel integrated graphics can push 4K, playing demanding games is where they falter. If you're not playing the most demanding iOS games, it's a non-issue.
The Plus models render at 1242x2208 for anyone who wanted to know.

I've gotcha, general 2d ui rendering doesn't require have the same scaling in demands as 3d rendering.

It makes sense, but I never had any issues with Safari. How many tabs do you have to use to reveal the RAM shortage? 5+?

5s to 6 was a screen jump, plus a new HW design, plus Apple Pay and other stuff with the camera. 6 to 6s isn't a small change, but to say it's bigger than 5s to 6 is incredibly misleading.
I wouldn't expect OLED until someone other than Samsung can make a really good panel.

Well if you don't care about the screen size, I'd also argue that this is a bigger upgrade. Finally 2 GB and Force Touch are two things that will likely impact every day use on a minute to minute basis. Apple Pay and screen size is nice, but I also didn't consider those huge upgrades.

Don't shoot me but I was secretly hoping that the 6s will end up having 1GB RAM again, so that I don't have to upgrade. Now that it's confirmed, I'm tempted to sell my 6 and upgrade for the additional RAM and the 3D Touch. On the other hand, I don't have any complaints from my 6.

I really doubt the average person is going to notice force touch nearly as much as, I don't know, the the fact that their phone is thinner, lighter, and has a bigger screen. Even 2 GB RAM is something only power users would notice--my parents always have 10+ tabs open in Safari, but don't use any of them other than the one Safari opens on. The other tabs just get created when they open a link in another app. I'd imagine most people are like them, and they don't use their phone nearly enough to notice a RAM bump that much.
I wanted to upgrade my 6 to 6S right after watching the conference, but I decided to wait for 7. Canadian prices played a role in this decision, but the deciding factor was knowing that 7 will have a new design that I will have to get. For me personally, the 6S isn't a big jump. I don't use the camera much, only for lecture notes really. The A9 + 2GB RAM again won't be a big jump for me because I always have the Air 2 on me. 3D Touch is the one thing I kinda wanted, but it's definitely a feature that can wait a year, not a must have right away like design, Touch ID, camera (for others), RAM...etc. Also, as for design, I am hopeful they will increase the resolution with the 7 redesign. Hopefully a bit bigger, too, 4.9-5" would be perfect.

I was going to just pick up the 6/6+ for my wife and I after this announcement to save some money, but the improvements (especially the memory) have me thinking of going all in on the S models.
My Apple store is sold out of anything other than 16GB models, so I'll probably hold off for a bit. Any reason to pre-order from Verizon instead? I can't really tell the difference. Is it just included Apple Care? I'll probably keep the phone for 2 years or so...no interest in an annual lease.

You don't have to delete anything. It auto-manages your space for you. But if you delete something on iCloud from your device, it's gone everywhere.

If you're using iCloud purely for storage, no. If you're using iCloud Photo Library, yes. iCloud Photo Library essentially syncs ALL your photos to all your devices running it, so they all share everything. For example, I have it turned on, so my Mac, iPhone, and iPad all show the same photos in the same order: it's the same library, synced through iCloud. Since that's the way the program is supposed to work, if I were to delete a photo off one device, it deletes it off every device
However, if you were to to just use iCloud as storage, like you make a folder called "Photos" and put photos in there, then it's not syncing with any library in particular. It's just storage
(The other thing you can use is Photo Stream, where a photo you take on one device gets automatically downloaded to all your other devices on the same Apple ID. If you then save the photo from the Photo Stream to that device's Camera Roll, you can safely delete it from the Photo Stream without removing it from the Camera Roll. Photo Stream = temporary iCloud storage that pushes your photos to your devices, Camera Roll = that specific device's local storage)

You can set the photos to optimize storage(in the photos and camera setting) and it'll store a lower quality one on the phone but keep the full quality in iCloud until you want it.

It really depends on personal preference, but with me, i always wanted bigger screen ever since iphone 5/5s, so when i got 6 it was big upgrade, 2 months later i sold my 6 and got 6+, which felt Big/Bigger for first day or two, now that i ve had it for almost a year, holding my friends 6 feels small, so i would recommend getting 6s+, worst case scenario you can return it and get 6s
