Got some more deets for the iPhone Upgrade Program for you guys:

1. MUST be activated with one of those four carriers. No way around it
2. Cannot be used if you have an outstanding contract on that line. If you try, it'll tell you how much you have left to pay off. There will be no way to pay this through Apple's system, you have to do it through a carrier. Also no way around this
I mean exactly what I say. If you are on a two year contract or a device payment plan for that line, Apple's system will not let you do the Upgrade Plan. No exceptions. It has to be a clear, contract-less line you're upgrading

What if the person's carrier allows Early Upgrades? Does the Program recognize when the person trying to sign-up is eligible for that?

What if the person's carrier allows Early Upgrades? Does the Program recognize when the person trying to sign-up is eligible for that?

It will show the amount due to end the contract, not early upgrade. So if you owe $300 to pay off the phone entirely, the system will say "Sorry cannot complete, this account owes $300". There's no way to pay that $300 through the Apple system to continue, but you can call your carrier or go online to do it. Early upgrades to clear the account have to be done through your carrier

I was assured yesterday and today by T-mobile that I could upgrade to the 64gb for no additional charge but the eips showed that I would be paying $5 more a month. Called back and whoever I talked to confirmed that it would be $5 more per month to jump to the 64gb size.

Dealing with them over this has been miserable.

Let me know what ends up happening for you.

To tell you my story on my 6S+ 64gb, they said I had to pay $100 down for the difference in the models (64gb costs $100 more in total than the advertised $24/mo plan for 6S+ 16gb). I thought it was justified but I don't know how these things are usually handled.

Anyone with t-mobile JOD errors should call back today. They fixed everything for me.

Anyone who ordered yesterday or today are confirmed to get the free storage upgrade. If they ordered the wrong phone, they're going to cancel it and order the correct one in 24 hours because their system makes them wait that long after a cancellation. These new orders will still get the storage upgrade and deliver on the 25th too.

https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/comments/3kq10m/explanation_about_free_storage_upgrade_from_johns/

If you got the storage upgrade and you're seeing a higher monthly payment on the EIP, it will be credited a higher amount on your bill.

Thanks for the heads up, managed to get my 16gb cancelled and get the 64gb with no down payment even though it took a few calls. Thanks.

I noticed that too and I asked and was told I would be getting a higher credit back on my bill and the price would stay at $19 per month

I have an appointment/reservation for the Upgrade program. If it is a hard pull hopefully they allow me to do ATT Next in store instead. :/ I don't want a hard pull on my credit for a phone of all things. Hopefully that's not the case.

I hope whoever is handling my appointment knows. Seems like a really big detail that is going unknown right now.

I'll be picking up my 128 GB 6S+ in December, as I'm still in my 2-year contract with AT&T and don't want to lose my unlimited data. Since I won't be getting my phone until much later, hopefully (any?) supply issues will be ironed out by then.

I think this will finally be the time I go with Space Grey (though I may chicken out and get Silver as usual).

I hope for your sanity that is true because good luck proving a deal ever even existed to whoever you get on the phone when you call to complain.

3. This is a loan you are taking out, so it does hit your credit
4. Must use a credit card (yes CREDIT CARD, not debit) for the initial transaction. The first transaction is the first month's payment plus tax. After the first payment you can go into the bank's portal and change the payment method to a debit card or bank account if you want to

Any more questions, please ask

I guess I'll just pay off the remaining amount on my phone on Verizon's Edge, and then do the upgrade through Verizon.

I ordered my 6s (64GB) in Space Grey yesterday. My contract ends next month I hope mine will be delivered when my new contract starts.

I see where you're coming from but to me its still a deal. Even if they charge the extra $5 a month it adds up to $60 for the year which is still less than the $99 I would pay for the 64gb down payment. It works out for me.

I'm confused about the line thing. I'm currently in a contract with my line, not a payment plan or anything. Just the traditional subsidized plan. I should be able to just put my Verizon SIM in the new phone correct?

I have a reservation for a 6S with the Apple Upgrade Program but this hard pull business really deflated my enthusiasm for this. The main reason I went for this was that the phone comes unlocked and I could use it with AT&T's GoPhone plan. Is that even possible if it has to be activated? Or am I going to have to get a AT&T Next plan?

Edit to add:

I checked the FAQ included with my reservation e-mail and it says:

Apple said:
Can I change the iPhone Upgrade Program to a different purchase option?
You can also purchase your iPhone through carrier financing or at full price. Ask a Specialist in store for more information.

I'll need to think this over a bit more.

Your sim would work in the phone.
The problem is buying the phone through Apple's Upgrade Program.

If you have a device contract with another carrier you won't be able to utilize Apple's program. You would have to upgrade the phone through your carrier.

Damn, I guess I can't do it. I'll probably just throw it on the card and pay it off in a couple months. Quicker if I can sell my phone relatively quickly.

Thanks for the info. Especially #2. I'll head to Verizon and pay the balance of the contract.

I know T-Mobile said if you order from them within 48 hours you will get priority shipping. I didn't get my order finalized until today so has anyone heard of an estimate ship date?

Everybody I talked to mentioned that they were saving my place in line for when I initially called.

Apparently something is wrong with my wife's line and it isn't letting me order a phone for her.

Escalating this call all day. Hate to use expletives at these T-Mobile people. But this is what I have resorted to. This thing is going to the top until somebody sells me a damn phone.

So guys, how does upgrading from and iPhone 6 to and iPhone 6S work on T-Mobile? I help my girlfriend get her current iPhone 6 last year during the end of December, and now she's interested in getting the iPhone 6S, but how does that work for T-Mobile? I know she's in that JUMP program, but I don't know if it's the On Demand one. I know she'll have to trade it in, and I'm sure she's gonna want the 64 GB version, so how does it work?

The rep told me that my place in line would be saved too but she also told me she would call me back to complete the order which never happened. Hopefully what she said was true.

If she got the 6 last year, then she isn't using Jump on Demand. She is on Jump1 or Jump2.

Her best bet is to go in a store and work it out there. She will need to have 50% of her device paid off under those plans I think.

Just avoid calling customer service. You will be sucked into a never ending black hole of sorrow, misery, and accents.

Lol I knew I wasn't gonna get one back smh. It wasn't even something big their system wasn't accepting any cards at that moment for JOD so all she had to do was call back and get the CC #. Just because of that I had to create a new order and now probably won't get the phone until 2-3 weeks later

Been waiting on t force to respond to me for two days though.

Don't need that hanging around for 7 years.

They are saying something similar to me right now. There is a larger problem with the account, not just them being unable to process credit cards for a small subset of their customers.

I'm escalating this over the phone and drafting up an email to the CEO and executive staff. PM me if you need the email address to escalate your issue.

I called them back today and the rep tried to tell me she can't process it over the phone and I would have to go in the store. By that time I was fed up and asked for a supervisor. Somehow magically went the rep got back on the phone everything worked and she could take the order -_-. Eventually got it figured out.

I hope they get your issue taken care of and you get your phone in a timely manner.

It isn't over till you get your EIP documents signed.
Last supervisor that ensured me I had a completed order had left the order half filled out.
Never got the EIP docs so the order technically doesn't exist.

Don't take their word until you have received and signed the financial agreement.

I received and signed my EIP while I was still on the phone. Took about a minute for me to receive the EIP

You got lucky there, I have never received a call back from them when they said they would call.

I know a lot of people are taking their problems to tforce since customer service can be a headache. My friend contacted tforce and got a response back after about 18 hours so hopefully they get to you really soon

Do any of you have experience with tech armor glass screen protectors? If so, are there now cutouts for the ear piece and camera?

They should. The earpiece at least, the camera depends on the manufacturer.

I forget if the 6(+) has the camera on the top like the 5S or on the side.

The 6+ has the camera to the left of the earpiece and the ambient light sensor above the earpiece.

The 2 glass screen protectors I have purchase do not have a cutout for the camera, but they do have a cutout around the ambient light sensor.

No idea how a tempered glass screen protector will impact the performance of force touch.

Just a heads up, we don't know how 3D Touch is going to work with screen protectors, or how they might interfere and the range of interference. You might want to wait on anything with a screen protector until we hear more about it.

I agree smh. I know they have been getting swamped though ever since that reddit post went up to contact t force to get your issues solved. The wait time went from 2-6 hours on Saturday to over 2 days (the gaffer above us). They need to get things settled

I work out in the field for projects most of the time so a screen protector and case is a 100% must day one :(

Now I'm being told there have been so many order attempts (from reps putting the wrong phone in the EIP documents) that my wife's line is on 48 hour fraud lock which prevents all device orders on the line.

Bloody hell. Love getting punished for their shitty system. Hope John is ready for my email. Apparently 3 levels of escalation can't remove the fraud lock so maybe the CEO can.

Lol no it's not, I delete and re-enable my iCloud backup all the time and my data is always still my phone.

We're not talking about backups or storage. We're talking about sync data: Photos, Mail, Calendar, iWork documents, etc...

Go ahead and delete a photo album now from iCloud.com and report back.

Yeah, I'm hoping the employee who has my appointment will be able to confirm this or not. Crossing my fingers that it is a soft pull. Honestly, thinking about it..it can't be a hard pull, right? Technically if you upgrade your iPhone once a year like the program says you can, they are reupping your loan, which would require another credit check possibly, no? I can't imagine they would be starting a program that would require hard pulls every year to start your 24 month loan. Maybe it's a hard pull in the first year and then a soft pull every year after. Either way, I can't imagine I will actually buy into the Upgrade Program if it is a hard pull.
