I don't know why but I get the impression that iTunes 11 is going to be disappointing.

going from what they showed at the iphone conference it looked like the Zune software, which was cool...

what i'm worried about is them changing how music and other data is synced to the phone tablet, etc...

because that badly needs to be redone.

everytime my wife gets a new computer i lose all her music playlists etc what have you... this after researching exactly what i should do in multiple places on the web and boom, apple just gives me one big fuck you.

I'm weirdly on the fence about whether I'd sell my iPad 3 to pick up an iPad Mini... need to see if this iPad Mini does more than be smaller and not-Retina.

I'd be real happy if they made the "get info" dialog box in itunes a non-modal window (and also clean up the tabs and options in the dialog box). I want it to be floating on the side and I can pick different tracks from the library and have the info populate that floating window for editing.

why would you think it'd do more?

The more portable form factor + lightning connector for consistency with my iPhone 5 is attractive to me...but not at the expense of certain things.

Need to figure out just what the iPad Mini will and won't be able to do compared to an iPad 3 to see if I'd want to go that route or not. The non-retina screen may make it a snappier device or potentially have better battery life or something...and maybe the headphone jack will be at the bottom?! I love that shit... :P

Yep, I'm with you here. Almost wishing I'd sold my iPad 3 by now so I could choose between the Mini or reupping on the full size for the potential lightning connector and battery improvements. Somehow minor stuff like that has me ready to upgrade... gotta have the latest!

From what they've shown, it looks good. The way each album gets its own look is kind of genius, in theory. Up Next is a feature that is not exactly new, but it's oh so good on other musicplayers.

The real estate and retina resolution will definitely keep the full size iPad at the top as the premium tablet. It makes perfect sense. I don't know why you'd expect a higher pixel density than the 3rd gen, miniaturization isn't free and the product's purpose is to hit a price point, but let's not revive that debate lol.

Non retina is lame to me, retina iPad, iPhone, MacBook Pro but no mini? Apple being cheap IMO

A retina iPad Mini probably couldn't be priced competitively without digging into Apple's thick, creamy profit margins. Besides, it's something they can hold onto for the inevitable iPad Mini 2, once the technology is cheaper.

This is, for all intents and purposes, is going to be the new Mac Mini: The "low-end" gateway drug to get people into Apple's ecosystem.

Edit: What Zeth said.
