It's nice to be able to follow such a display of new products online, but I wonder who these people are who are sitting in the audience and start cheering and clapping as if they'd just watch the Super Bowl.

Yeah, you people that still burn and write CDs, we'll gladly **** you over. What a joke.
Yeah, my mom's iMac is getting pretty outdated, but I can't see her upgrading to something that requires an external drive. The extra space it would take up would make the volume and width reduction somewhat meaningless.

I have a 27-inch iMac (and I love it). I'm a wedding videographer and editor. Customers want their weddings burned to DVD, whether you call that "living in the past" or not. Customers want it; it's a fact.

So basically I could never really use this computer, unless I buy their drive add-on. Which I never would.

No, the momentus hybrids had a a cache, like 4GB (new ones 8 or 16 or something).

Apple's fusion drive has a proper 128GB SSD, it seems. Or at least magnitude larger.

It sounds like its actually two separate drives managed by the OS as one volume

LOL, Apple wins again...

This tech has existed. Apple is just genius at introducing this stuff and claiming it's new.

When your fans are oblivious to what's actually available in the real world, everything is new!

The tech they're copying is really good, though. It's nice to finally have it.

On the bright side, bet they are about to catch a good deal on the old model.
True that.

Bingo. That's the only thing that bums me out about my Retina MBP. I got hired to do my first video job this summer, a video of a middle school summer camp. The RMBP was fantastic for editing, but then I heard they wanted 40+ DVDs burnt so all of the kids could have a copy. =|

Get her a refurb of last year's model

and? im not saying they invented it, I'm saying they way it's managed and done and all that is nuts.

Do you mean how it's put into a desktop?

It's not rocket-science, and I'm pretty sure drives like these have been available for 4 + years. Still nice to see them add it in, but the revelations going on here have been funny.

They are very good at "perfecting" or making good use of something that already exists in a novel way, so they are good on that front.
