Dear Apple: Please can you have also done a stealth update that means a full extended keyboard is an option.

Also, will the fusion drive work under Windows for a dual boot?

Do you mean how it's put into a desktop?

It's not rocket-science, and I'm pretty sure drives like these have been available for 4 + years. Still nice to see them add it in, but the revelations going on here have been funny.
The OS seems to manage it very well. If that's how it is everywhere then so be it. Not sure why there is this mission to prove you can already do it elsewhere.

Fusion drive I've been using for 2 years:

I have a 27-inch iMac (and I love it). I'm a wedding videographer and editor. Customers want their weddings burned to DVD, whether you call that "living in the past" or not. Customers want it; it's a fact.

So basically I could never really use this computer, unless I buy their drive add-on. Which I never would.

And I have a friend who is a professional wedding photographer as well, who would buy a DVD external drive? Soooo....all is right with the world since you two have different opinions. Pheew.

For the people saying the fusion drive is different from the flash cache on hybrid drives: Using a large SSD to optimise HDD space - in exactly the same way that Apple are doing it - has already been done.

To their credit at least Apple aren't saying they invented the concept.

No, but they are fantastic at marketing it as a 'new concept' that you absolutely need to have.

Yeah, thank god they only sacrificed functionality that people use to make a desktop that isn't mobile thinner and lighter.

I honestly think that DVD drives are like scanners to me now, only pull out the external one for the one time in a blue moon that I need it. Forcing optical drives upon everyone is a waste. External optical drives are hardly a huge hassle
