I'm genuinely interested in these announcements today. I've never owned an apple product ever. I've been thinking about getting a MacBook for my next laptop and possibly an Iphone.

I don't have any experience with Apple OS though so it's all kinda scary.

they're the most noob friendly devices out there, so no worries.

I dont really mind iTunes that much on my Air but you have to mess with the terminal to do stuff like get store links back and then reverse them, which should just be in options, and it still doesnt work right because it resets to their default view

That search doesn't work.

So either they were very quick to remove it or it's fake.
smh. To clarify, that search link means nothing. It is the URL RESULT of searching on Apple. That link is what shows up when you search for specific criteria on Apple. It is not live, but displayed on Apple.com.

Yea, that's the thing though. I'm a pretty technical guy and know my way around windows pretty well.

I guess my thing is I don't know how I'll feel about having something that is overtly 'noob friendly'.

Maybe that's a mistake to think like that though since I've never experienced the OS 'hands on'.

Even though iTunes still runs alright on Mac is hard not to want to see the back of the bloated mess now.

The way they just kept bolting more and more onto it and making it have to do everything just makes me think of an overloaded donkey everytime it loads up.

Really?

I had no idea that's how the Internets work.

just because it's noob friendly doesn't mean it's a childrens toy. It's noob friendly because it's so damn well designed.

There's a reason MS is trying to simplify with moving everything to metro, including windows.

You know, seeing I use iTunes on my mac, I never understood the rampant hatred for the app.

I'm happy for a nice substantial upgrade though!

While that is true, it's absolute shit on my PC. I hope they can make it not run like garbage, that's about all that I would ask. I don't really like the look of it, but the most important thing for me is the speed.

I was in the same boat and while OSX isn't my favorite OS, it's basically like swapping between flavors of pop-tarts.

Even on the Mac it's mildly fat and gross, but the PC version is leagues worse.

Huh, my hype level spontaneously rose from 3/10 to 5/10. I hope there's some special new feature for the iPhone 5, as I like neither the screen size nor the supposed look. LTE isn't offered by my provider anyway.

The more and more i've used it over the years, the more i've realized that it's a mess even on Mac. On windows it's more of an abomination most of the time, but they're not worlds apart tbh.

Wasn't that Job's line? Cook going to take it now?
I wonder if the audience would boo, applaud, or gasp if he were to say that at this point. Probably the latter, but it'd be weird for him to say that verbatim imo.

Anyone else afraid of a UI update for iTunes? Could end up being an 80's boombox style knowing the trend these days.

A6 and LTE confirmed. There will not be many surprises today it seems.

Knowing what something is called does not mean we know what it is, especially concerning the A6. There are several ways they could have went with the A6, and I will be interested to find out which they chose and why.

Timan: That might be an improvement over what we have now.

I only moved to OSX and iOS last year and I picked both up immediately. OSX, especially, is such a huge step forwards over Windows. Just go through a quick tutorial or two to get used to the fundamentals and you can learn the rest as you use it. It is easy to use but it's incredibly advanced and powerful too

Thanks.

I guess this is probably not the right thread to keep derailing with my Mac Noobness. I do appreciate the feedback though. One of these days I'll go to best buy with a chair and just mess around with one for a bit.

Im such a sucker...but if they use a A6 chip i might get the iPhone 5. Thought they would reuse the A5.

Fair enough, but I have to ask then, what hardware features are you exactly looking forward to that isn't available on an android device?

That's the thing, I don't even know. I feel like Siri was a bit of a surprise and while not exactly hardware it was sort of intertwined between the OS and the hardware.

I don't think it necessarily has to be hardware it just has to be something uniquely incorporated into the phone that I wouldn't be able to replicate elsewhere.

I'm selling my iPhone 4. I see it going for $300+ on Kijiji in Canada. My question is, does the person buying it have to stay on my current network (Fido), or can they do some trickery to make it work on others?

My son - who will be 3 years old in 2 weeks can use it.

Obviously he can't read to mess with settings, put he knows which icons to push on the screen to get to the game he wants and he knows how to stop and start youtube videos.

My 7 year old daughter knows iOS inside and out, even what all the settings do and how to personalize things.
