You can remove the search bar in stock ICS...

SwiftKey broken for anyone else since the last update? Long-press characters don't show up on mine anymore (they still work, but it's a bit annoying not being able to see them):

Sorry man working fine here

Perhaps try changing your theme see if that makes a difference. Might even be worth uninstalling it and reinstalling it.

Aldready tried the first one. So, yeah, guess I'll have to try uninstalling it...

EDIT: Ok, that solved it. Now to hope it doesn't happen again. Could quickly get annoying.

I had the same problem after the last update, I had to force update the language package and the characters were back

Well, I grabbed Goodnews. There are way too many options and they're so confusing. I also couldn't get offline syncing working for some reason. I had to rebuild the database and all that but now that I'm set up, things are great.

The actual UI is holo themed, for the most part, so it's nice. Just the initial set up is a pain.

Only apps that have working offline with images are feedr (fast) and Newsrob (slow). I world like to be proved wrong.

Oh, I can download music from iTunes and use it on a non iPhone device? For some reason I didn't think it's possible (Apple and all...).

Depends. If it's the older FairPlay-protected music, you'll need to upgrade it to iTunes Plus (you can just pay the difference to upgrade, $0.30/song). The newer DRM-free music can typically be played as long as your phone has the AAC+ codec enabled (and if my crappy Froyo Samsung Gravity SMART can play it, I'm sure most any other phone can too).

definitely can't in 4.0.4

I think you can do it by going into Settings > Apps and disabling the Google Search app. However, I don't think you can actually use the empty space left by the search bar for anything else, so there's really no point. Gonna need a custom ROM or launcher for that.

We talking about the permanent Google Search bar on top? If so, a custom launcher can remove that (ie Nova Launcher, etc).

Or just get either Nova or Apex launchers that completely mimic the stock launcher but let you customize more stuff.

Yeah, edited my post to include that. But I guess the point was that using the stock ICS launcher you can get rid of it, but you can't actually do anything with the empty space you gain.

Right. It's kind of annoying. But I guess Google Now/Voice Search might get more use if it's in your face.

Good News can... sometimes. It's inconsistent.

Does anyone know of a music player that has a totally transparent widget, but that lets you browse your collection by album artist instead of artist?

Ubermusic has the sort of widget I want, but it only lists your music by artist, not album artist, and that's no good to me. For example, I have mixtapes with 40 tracks on them and Ubermusic lists every single artist featured on the mix (i.e. the track artist), when all I want is the person who made the mix (album artist). PowerAmp had the same issue last time I used it.

I'm using PlayerPro at the moment which works exactly how I want it to work, so if I could find a player similar to that but with a completely transparent widget that would be great.

Not available in my country? Where have you transported me to Jelly Bean?!

Well, as I said, it's pretty much useless right now anyway, so you're not missing much. Really bad performance using software rendering, and hardware rendering doesn't really work yet (with the video I tried I just got a black screen). Just stick to Dice Player until VLC is actually ready to be used. Right now it clearly isn't.

You could try Phantom Music Control perhaps?

example:
if i enter my car, the bluetooth connects to car, Pattern Lock is off.
if i leave my car, the bluetooth disconnects from car, Pattern Lock turns on.
if i enter my home, phone connects to wifi, Pattern Lock is off.
if i leave my home, phone disconnects from wifi, Pattern Lock is on.

Thanks!

If you have a phone with NFC, you'd be best off with these:

http://www.samsung.com/us/microsite/tectile/

(Google shopping search)

If not, get Tasker.

Lifehacker seems to like it a lot: http://lifehacker.com/5599116/how-to-turn-your-android-phone-into-a-fully+automated-superphone

I've never tried it.

Tasker. But its a very geeky app. You might have to tinker around before you get the rules working. It worked very well on my 2.3 HD2 but not very well with my 4.0 Note. I have to use long screen off time to substitute no screen lock.

Tasker, LLama can do that.

Word of warning, disabling screen locks through those kinds of apps can be really buggy and not work all the time. Even on rooted Roms with built in functionality, it only works half the time.

Has anyone found alternatives or at least found a way to disable the horrid pixel filtering in the popular Android emulators such as GBCoid and GameBoid? Whenever I play those in full screen scaled I get a horrid blurry picture- I prefer full, glorious sharp pixels. I use an obscure emulator called John GBC Lite that allows this, are there any others?

Unfortunaly, I can't buy music from iTunes in Isreal, and the same goes for Amazon :\

I find it ridiculous that I'm having trouble buying music legally, yet it's so easy to pirate.
My point - I want to give them money, but is seems like they just refuse...

Is there an app that will let me password protect apps of my choice?

And is there a way for me to get On live if it's not in my Play Store?

When I asked about Reeder, Google Reader were the closest. Or else there's a lot of visual readers like Pulse etc.

Sad there's no Reeder on Android, as Google Reader is not as functional. =(
Not asking for much here. I want readability support and a simple UI that isn't ugly.

Blackhead

Redarse
Good News mentioned above is actually pretty good UI wise and I bought it. But, like Reeder, it doesn't get my 10000+ unread items so I'll never use it.

I don't know of any Readability support but many support other mobilizers.

Yep. Good News was my suggestion. It's my favorite and I JUST combed through RSS apps. I can only speak to nice UI and offline syncing. That was my main criteria.

Does it have Instapaper integration? So that I can save articles to Instapaper?
Doesn't Instapaper have sharing capabilities? If so, just share the article to Instapaper.
