Cena going heel and Daniel Bryan becoming the new John Cena, devoting his underdog-superhero combo act to the kids, would be a fascinating study in how crowd opinions change on wrasslers.

The Cena chant would switch real quick.

Daniel Bryan doesn't have the drive for that. Like yeah, I'm sure he has the drive to be a champion and main event guy but Daniel is a wrestling guy. The media he does now is probably fine, but being Cena requires you to multiply that by five. The only people that can handle that amount of stress and work are people who absolutely will die to be famous and popular. Hogan is that guy. The Rock is that guy. Cena is that guy.

I don't even think Reigns is that guy. He probably thinks hes that guy but when he gets 2 hours of sleep because he had a house show, radio and morning news interviews, and hours to spend meeting young kids at hospitals and schools, I feel he'll want to do what Brock Lesnar did and leave.

Being a WWE top guy requires more than a love of money. You have to love fame and seeing your face everywhere. You have to be vain as fuck and be willing to ruin relationships. Cena seems aware of this as he is avoiding getting married again and have children (plus I bet it is fun to hook up with pornstars & groupies without guilt).

Wrestlers free from shit:

TMF Arn Anderson
Tully Blanchard
Bull Nakano

I'm pretty sure no one here's ever said a bad word about Stan Hansen. At least, they better not have...

I've said before I don't think anyone in the company besides John Cena is that guy, which is the biggest reason why the "Reigns is next Cena for 10 years" nonsense pre-WM31 always struck me as silly.

There is no Next John Cena. Even The Rock wasn't the guy to the level of Cena in regards to corporate workhorse.

Didn't Cena say he only gets like 4 hours of sleep a day because of all the stuff he has to do like Make a Wish, movies and etc?

I remember him saying something of that context on that god awful Cena Experience doc.

Kids. WWE isn't for you.

i don't think little jimmies care about championships, they just want to see their favorite superstars

It's happened before.

yes, it has happened before, a long time ago, and on US soil

Didn't Diesel win the heavyweight title at a glorified house show?

yeah, 20 years ago

anyway, i was asking this thinking of the European tour. what are the odds of a title change in 2015 on a random house show in Switzerland?

Unless this is some thread meme I missed, Cena isn't on the go 24h/day.

Cena is always doing something. An interview, meeting children, movies & TV spots, he still works house shows and does TV, he has Total Divas to appear on. Factor travel and other misc shit into that, and how much sleep do you think he gets? I'm betting less than six hours a day on average.

And because Cena is a documented company man and ultra weirdo, I bet when he has time off he is mostly awake thinking about going back to work. That goddamn reality show painted him as such a man, and I don't think that is a work.

Heading to the Dublin WWE house show tonight. Finn Balor's homecoming! (Oh, and Sheamus too. Woo.) Everything looks good except for the planned main event of Reigns Vs Big Show. But it might still be fun since Big Show has become real snarky to the crowd at live events lately. Last house show I was at the crowd were as good as could be for WWE, they cheered the faces and booed the heels so Roman should be safe here. Also Sandow got nuclear heat for some reason. This was after his MITB cash in when he had some sort of Pipebomb parody gimmick for a few weeks before becoming a comedy heel. Curious to hear the reactions for heel Sheamus and the New Day if they're still faces.

Are they running the same shitty main even everywhere her ein Europe? Here in Germany it is advertised as a street fight. For you guys as well?

Jeez Diesel winning the belt was 20 years ago :/.

I feel old as hell. I can picture telling my son about the "glory" days of professional wrestling like the importance of the New Generation era.

"Back in my day, a shoot was really a shoot and a work was a work".

A post from a few days ago occurred to me watching NXT.

A poster describing the RAW crowd live said women rock the Brie Mode shirts and the Bellas get huge reactions from women. The male smark hates the Bellas.

Should we discount the female opinion for some pseudo objective evaluation of the Bellas v. Other Divas? Is there some xism afoot?

I don't watch Total Divas, so I'm going purely off what I see on Raw. I'd say that the Bellas are easily the most complex characters in the Divas division. They are the mean girls at the top of the hill, but they also say some real-ass shit about women who are obviously trying just as hard to impress men shitting on other women for trying to impress men. And "mean girl who says real-ass shit when it needs to be said" is a really popular anti-hero for women.

Of course, it's easy for the Bellas to be the most complex characters when they get the most screen time.

I get less than that now. Let's do this.

I'm on vacation in Dublin right now and was contemplating going to the wwe show tonight until I saw that main event

Reigns vs big show? No thanks

Jericho: "So did it bother you when they made jokes about your weight?"

Vicki: "Of course it bothered me"

Vince: "The face...when they're pushed into the pool...as they are falling in...haw haw hawwww"

Which, in a way, is a bit crazy because he poked Vader's eye out in one match and then broke his nose in the next one. But I've never heard allegations of him being unsafe. Just really stiff.

(I'm still watching Vader matches on NJPW World)

Vicki Guerrero is on Jericho's podcast this week. I'll put up with it in the hope that she's got some great stories, would love to hear more about her career.

"So Vicki, remember that time we were..it was me, and Rey, and Eddie, and they were doing their thing with the low-lows, and uh, I was...do you remember anything about me from that time period? I know I was winning belts."

turned it off to do some work an hour in, it wasn't so bad, Jericho let vicki talk for the most part but it wasn't particularly enlightening.

EDIT-makes me think just how many podcastsa re just people having a conversation, even review-a-wai and law and shit, I need to devote more time to listening to podcasts that actually have a bit more of a mission statement than that, imo.

I jump about 20-30 mins into any Review-A series because I don't want to hear about their shitty coffee, or how John Pollock who is pretty out of touch with everything outside of wrestling and how he discovers these new things that are REALLY old.

Just no interest. Get to the wrestle-talk, fuckers.

The total inverse on this. I love the 20 minute intro. Enjoy just listening to them talk.

I guess my problem is that neither of them have interesting personalities. Pollock is one of the blandest dudes of all time - and that's a good thing when it comes to his reporting and his discussion of wrestles. I love that. Wai sounds uninspired all the time but I grew to appreciate him.

It still bugs me to this DAY that Wai didn't think it was sexual harassment when that dude in TNA shoved his dick in the ring announcer's face. That's fucking harassment.

It's almost impressive how static of a character he's been ever since Thugonomics got phased out. The only way you can tell '07 Cena apart from '12 Cena is shirt color.
It really is kind of impressive. But mostly baffling that he still has fans. I mean, stale is stale, at any age.

I think they weren't rumbled by the misogynist chants from the post-'Mania Raw either. Could it be a Canadian thing? ('cism).

That also bugged me. The fact they called those shitty, shitty chants "fuckin' hilarious" was really offputting.

Speaking of bullshit, where's that Jeevesmeister? He wanted to shoot on me and said I was a fraud and full of shit, then I asked him to PM me and I didn't get shit, and he turned tail and ran.

Get your ass out here and let's do this, baby.

*WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins vs. Randy Orton.

*WWE United States champion John Cena vs. Rusev.

*WWE Intercontinental champion Daniel Bryan vs. Bad News Barrett.

*WWE Divas champion Nikki Bella vs. Battle Royal winner (TBD this Monday)

So since this is Extreme Rules, what will the stips be?
