What's up with the NJPW commentator that says "HAI!" about 9 times a minute? Guy needs to chill out a little bit.

In Japanese it's considered polite to acknowledge the other person talking during conversation, not just by nodding, hand gestures or by looking at them, but also by saying "hai" (yes) as they talk.

I don't know how you can ban a move in what is essentially a no DQ match.

Like...what happens if he uses it? Does he get DQ'd? Does the match just stop? Does he win the title and then the decision is reversed the next night?

The same as an ordinary cage match with the caveat that if the RKO is used, it's a DQ for whoever uses it

Has anyone discussed the possibility that the blood capsule Brock Lesnar activated at Wrestlemania 31 that was taped to the pole had a Daniel Bryan voodoo doll wrapped around it? Was Papa Shango spotted near the arena?

How long has this been going on? First Daniel Bryan "borrows" the running knee from Itami and now this. Really makes you wonder.

In Lucha Underground this would have been a subtle long-running storyline about the perils of cultural appropriation and would have been amazing as fuck to witness, but siggghhhh.

That OP is a work of art and a true example of master level passive aggressiveness towards Bryan. I enjoyed the ever living fuck out of it Sunny, well done, great stuff!

Baisaiku knee kick, stolen.
Go 2 Sleep, stolen.
Double stomp, stolen.

Itami should return to using the falcon arrow (without being off the top) as his finish or the ground octopus stretch he used for like a month way back when.

Taz is officially gone from TNA according to Twitter.

How long till he doing something in the WWE?

Plus the original plan on Raw for Cena:

Regarding Daniel Bryan being sent home from the current WWE tour of Europe due to being banged up, the original plan for last Monday's RAW in London was to do Bryan vs. WWE United States Champion John Cena but Bad News Barrett got the shot against Cena instead.

Bryan has worked very little on the current tour and even when he teamed with Cena at the SmackDown tapings for the main event he didn't work much.

There's been concern over how Bryan has been wrestling the same style he was before the near career-ending neck injury. There's been a feeling for a while that given the seriousness of his injuries, Bryan's body was not going to be able to hold up for a long period of time without adjusting his ring style.

They were going to give us a Cena vs Bryan match with the possibility him unifying the titles with no build on Raw. What!

Plus I hope this injury scare makes bryan change his style.

Clearly that would not have been a unification match. Just a non-title match to keep Cena looking strong and get his win back from earlier.

Tazz and Maggle back together again.
Tazz and Maggle were at their commentary best when they worked opposite each other.
Unfortunately, the folks on the other side of the headset have gotten progressively worse over the past decade so they would sound just as shit as all other WWE commentators do in 2015.

Some things from the Danny Bry / Talk is Jericho guy:
-Wade was going to win the MITB originally.
Hey WWE, feel free to follow up on this idea in the future, do it for me.

We'll always have his WWE WHC reign to remember him by:

Extreme Rules 2014: Daniel Bryan (c) defeated Kane.

burned into our memories
Indeed, that was a fine Kane event, worthy of a DVD compilation set!
...specifically a Kane compilation.

Morale hit a real low last week because a lot of people were late getting money. Those who have regular contracts are paid a monthly salary on the first of the month and as of late last week, when people talked and realized they weren't the only ones who hadn't gotten paid (and these were key people), it became a significant issue. Checks did start arriving late week. Matt Hardy, who said he has had no problems with TNA, went on Twitter to display all his checks and say everything with him was fine. He got five checks this past week, which were three days of pay for the three days he worked, his monthly guarantee check and his royalties check. One check was visible for $4,000, which was for one of the days of TV that he worked where he worked two matches. But as last week there was significant concern among others. But there was talent that also had not been paid their money they were supposed to be sent on 3/1, so they were more than 30 days late. It was the same thing last year when the company taped so many One Night Only PPVs in Orlando, and that put the company way behind on expenses and it took a long time to get caught up on payroll. There were reports that this was because the payroll was moved from Nashville to Dallas, but that excuse doesn't hold up because the checks have been sent from Dallas for a long time. There are two types of talent, which are the contracted talent that gets a monthly guarantee on the first of the month, and those who get paid by the show, who were further behind.

At press time, the situation with Taz is unclear. Taz did not go to Nashville last week for voiceovers for the episode of Impact that airs on 4/17, so Josh Matthews did the show alone. He didn't go, reportedly, because he wasn't paid and wasn't going unless he was paid before he left, and they didn't get him his money on time. Taz removed all references to TNA from his twitter account on 4/14. At press time, his future was not clear, past the point the company was very apologetic to him beforehand about being late with money when asking him to come, and he was still with the company. We don't have any impression at this point that he wasn't coming to Nashville this week to do the show that airs on 4/24. He said that he would address the subject himself shortly. However, Matthews was doing practice session voiceovers in studio with Al Snow, so that could have been preparation if Taz didn't return.

A lot of the talk is regarding Destination America. It's been described that TNA has become the tail (DA) wagging the dog, and the people from the network, unlike with Spike, have no clue about wrestling. As noted they've put pressure on regarding who they want pushed, which is all cosmetic, or fame. The other frustration is that the people at the station seem to change their minds weekly when it comes to TV. While Impact hasn't been moved, there is a lot of questioning moving from Wednesday to Friday, which DA appeared to do because with Smackdown moving from Friday, they thought they would get the wrestling fans used to watching on that night. They were originally doing tons of replays and shoulder programming and now all the shoulder programming has been dropped and they are only airing TNA wrestling on Friday nights from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m., with two airings of Impact and one airing of Unlocked at 1 a.m. Unlocked has now been moved from Saturday at 10 a.m. to Friday at 7 p.m. to Thursday at 1 a.m. (It was moved from Friday night to Thursday night last week with nobody even knowing, and then it never aired on Thursday due to a last minute change by the station) to Friday at 1 a.m. In addition TNA Greatest Matches show that aired on Saturdays has been dropped. They are apparently now all about just the Friday night first-show rating, although they are doing the automatic replay with the idea it gets the West Coast viewers. The feeling looks to be that all the other programming was hurting the Friday rating. If you remember when the deal was signed, Dixie Carter was pushing it as a station that would give them far more air time and more than just the two hour show every week. Now Carter is trying to push the idea that they will start creating more Internet content. The problem never was that they didn't have enough content, though.

The honeymoon is very much over. The Discovery channel signed TNA as an experiment and I was told that the experiment turned out very bad when it comes to generating ad revenue (and you can watch the shows and see the ads) and they expected far more viewers. Impact is, by far, the highest rated show in the history of the station, which on would think would be a huge positive for the company's standing. I guess they were expecting a far larger percentage of the loyal Spike audience to come with them. Destination America right now is in 61.7% of the homes Spike was in, but they are doing (in February as compared to February one year ago) 30.2% of the viewership for the first run show and even throwing in the first replay, you're getting less than half. But the channel has a ton to do with it when you go from a fairly strong channel (Spike) to a channel with maybe 15% of the viewership. UFC has never done close to Spike numbers on FS 1 even though FS 1 was in maybe 88% of the homes Spike was. It's just the nature of TV viewing. I think there was the feeling that wrestling is popular on TV, there were tons of fans used to watching wrestling on Friday nights and TNA's fan base as far as TV viewing was thought to be extremely loyal.

Watching a bunch of ECW matches for a review, it's a struggle. Only highlight so far was Malenko & Scorpio having an awesome match that the crowd totally shit on until they upped the pace, but it was such a great match for '94. Public Enemy were just entirely awful in everything they did and had a complete clusterfuck of a match with Taz & Sabu. Tully Blanchard beat the shit out of the Franchise, which was pretty cool. Now I'm watching Scorp & Malenko vs Taz & Eddie, which should hopefully be pretty awesome.

Can anyone explain or point me to a good source on why despite wrestling getting good ratings nobody wants to buy advertising on wrestling shows?

Who is booking TNA these days?

The mainstream need for an alternative wrestling program feels like it isn't there, TNA will never amass to anything worthwhile other than a place for us, on the internet, to poke fun at.

Think about it.

I mean unless you are worried about questionable content you have a product which evolves every week and doesn't take breaks like traditional sitcoms or reality shows.

Plus traditional programs are centered around cliffhangers designed to keep people tuned in.

Do people just think that the target audience has no spending power?

The majority of the wrestling audience are the same as the ones that go to the circus.

Low income families with not a lot of money to spend.
