Invites will be sent in waves throughout the test so don't give up hope.

Per their Discord:

We are aware that some people have not accessed the Tech test channels yet even if you've reacted to the message in welcome. This is due to Discord being a bit overwhelmed
❤️
Please try to refresh and re-click the reaction if you can't see the channels. We will also continue to send out invites to test on your selected platform in waves throughout the test.

Does anyone know if queuing solo means you'll only be matched with other solo players? I don't have anyone to team up with, so I'm wondering if I'll be at a disadvantage.

So You get 2 friend codes if you play at least 30 minutes plus 4 matches?

I will be happy to share the codes I get...Will be on Xbox

Can we all collectively throw down our prayer rugs and praise Embark for creating dumb AI that actually makes sense thematically?

Having a roomba with a gun attached act like a roomba with a gun attached is objectively superior to special forces / alien combatants / great warriors act like a roombas with a guns attached.

PS5 Pro here :

Frankly, I didn't know what I was expecting...As a mostly single player user, this is the usual online, busywork, boring stuff.
Spend 30 minutes to loot stuff, maybe shoot a couple of drones and maybe other players.

I know it sounds stupid writing these things in an online/extraction shooter topic of all places but, for those that play mostly SP games and were curious about it, well, this isn't gonna change anyone's mind when it comes to this type of game(s) IMO.

Lifeless, robotic, "A", PC-like game animations ala' PUBG, boring enemies, boring weapons, usual boring game loop and the little atmosphere that it has, is lost due to the boring robotic enemies and boring by today's standards post apocalyptic esthetics - there's nothing "magical" here, nothing to get lost/immersed in, the world is boring and the few cool touches like the synth soundtrack and kinda' 80s costumes etc are clearly remnants from the initial vision that they had for the game before it became yet another extraction looter shooter - the first trailer actually looked neat, fantastical and "different" than...whatever this is right now.

Yes, GFX are neat (but nothing great), it runs at 60fps, the sound design is nice but the rest...

Clearly these games are not for me and my impressions are for those that aren't fans of this type of game either but are curious about it.

Edit : the only Extraction game I've played was Hunt showdown for 20-30 hours, that one at least had some pretty good atmosphere and art direction.

You can also keep checking under Playtest tab under your EmbarkID on their website, seems a lot of codes showing up there before the emails arrive

Eurogamer does this all the time, where they get someone who isn't a fan of FPS to review a Halo release. Almost completely useless information contained.

Curious to hear your expound on the atmosphere. I definitely dug Hunt Showdowns atmosphere but this looks like a step above to me. What does Hunt do right in that regard that AR doesn't?

I don't fully agree with this.

The Extraction genre has the ability to pull in players who aren't too fond of PvP. I think people who are mildly interested in the genre have a valid viewpoint to share. You can clearly see a game in this genre produce very little PvP percentage (via escape / recon character builds) depending on playstyle preferences.

Maybe you got some dirt in your eyes brother 'cause I mentioned not once but twice that I'm a single player gamer mostly and that my thoughts are for those that are in same camp as me but maybe they were curious about this game.

Boxes, I'm more partial towards the Grimdark/grimy/gloomy/oppressing esthetics of something like Hunt than the typical, post apocalyptic stuff, but it's not because it's simply post-apoc since that can work nicely if done properly (Fallout/TLOU etc) but because this specific world feels sterile and boring mostly due to the non scary and dull (robotic) enemies, I mean, drones, turrets and ball servos don't exactly instill fear nor urgency to me.

just my personal opinion obviously.

cheers

Looks like we'll have plenty of spare codes to go round if anyone needs them. Ill get my 4 games in later then I should have a couple of steam codes going spare.

On their site it says you have to play 4 rounds and at least 30 minutes. I don't play many online shooters anymore, maybe that's one of the requirements to qualify or probably just random selection.
Once you are in you have to play 4 matches before you can invite 2 people.

Not sure if they're platform dependent but if not I will give you one. I will start playing today so I can get the codes ASAP.

Also, Love me some Tyrone Biggums...
Is this the 5 o clock free Crack giveaway?!
I think it's platform dependent because they ask you to choose on their site.

I have two spare invites if anyone is needing one.

I play on the PS5, unsure if you need to be on the same console.

I didn't realize I still had access because of previous tests I guess.

I hopped back in and played a round. It's... a lot better than what I remember. But this is one of those things where I see what's there, and it's pretty fun, so I'll just wait for it to release before putting more time into it.

Yeah I am pretty hooked early on but I too sort of want to stop playing and wait for release just not sure I can put the crack pipe down yet

Loving the solo play and its tuned nicely for us solo players

Have killed a couple of people and got whacked once by someone that already had nice looking gear and their gun hit like a truck

I'll hit you up later on if you are still struggling.

I got an invite from a friend thats not the problem. I can only choose xbox or PS. I could play on PS right now, but that probably means i cant get a PC key anymore so im waiting

edit: nvm i cant even click on the circle to select platform lol. Shit is broken

Played a few rounds before having to hop off. Pretty good first impression. Very similar to a game like Rust. Systems seem like they have solid depth. Didn't encounter any other teams.

Wish there were more basic enemies that weren't drones or insects. It also doesn't look nearly as good on the PS5 as what the previews stated, which I'm sure were being played on PC

If i get a code on pc i'm gonna give it to my dude Men_in_Boxes Men_in_Boxes , he clearly care about trying the demo way more than me :lollipop_grinning_sweat:
I appreciate the offer but I'm AFK for the next 10 days. Use the code yourself and post impressions that will either piss me off or glaze the game...as long as they're sincere it'll be the best gift you can give. If I get sent a code over the next few days (no luck yet) I'll share it with someone here.

A broken calendar is right once a year...
1/2 gives me an eFG percentage that would make Steph Curry blush.

Isn't Marathon a 1st person game? It's an interesting comparison for these two games for some reason.
Yeah Marathon is first person but the comparisons are going to be inevitable with both being an extraction shooter and especially since both are running alphas/tests right now

That said they are night and day different from top to bottom

I don't blame anyone if they would rather play Marathon but this game is miles ahead in many categories for my liking

And they don't need a safety and compliance team giving them the ok for things like proximity chat like Bungie does and I personally have already had fun with prox chat and love listening to other players

Interactions like these make a game more enjoyable for me to play and even watch

Yeah, it's hard to not compare them considering the genre and where they're both at in development. But the overall production and appearance of this just.... looks and feels better to me. Though I'll admit I was never really keen on Marathon's new look. I mean, initially I really dug it in the first reveals, but the in-game stuff just doesn't hit the same to me at all.

The loop and flow here feels and looks like it'll click more with extraction shooter fans. Plus the fact it has proximity chat.

I understand Bungie want to try to "mix it up a bit", and I guess it helps that they're making it for their fanbase/the mainstream audience. But I just don't think a lot of people are happy with some of their decisions.
