Currently camping extracts to see what happens.

Playing for the past two hours... Have yet to even Com across another team..

You just run around, collect shit, and find an elevator and leave....

You can shoot down snitches, hornets, and wasps.

But you have no weapon good enough to even try and kill a bison

Heads up : you may be invited and into the test even if you didn't get an official email.

I had a code waiting for me on their website but no emails anywhere in regards to it.

Going by the videos and people's impressions, it's got a good gritty art style (if thats your thing), but hardly any action. When I watched the videos, combat was sparse and most fights were against drones. There were hardly any PvP gun fights. There were some, but not many. So either the maps are gigantic compared to the players in the match, or each match just has a very limited number of players/teams. Whatever it is, the ratio of map size to players is large.

Didn't play the beta or Tarkov. Anyone care to share if you played both, which game has more PvP action? ARC or Tarkov?

Thats how extraction shooters works. PvP is rare, but can happen anytime, thats what keeps you on the edge

Yeah first impressions, the tension is there. Far closer to Tarkov than Marathon looks to be.

I expect once the dust settles most on here will not like this game. I expect this to find a bigger audience on PC and Marathon will do better on Console

already uninstalled... usual multiplayer shooter slop

The genre is dead as a dodo tbh. I still go back to counter strike 2 once in a while, the best there is currently

PC access seem nigh on impossible, but I hear they're dishing out codes willy nilly to people on other platforms who are barely interested in checking the game out. Boo.

I got to hear about this. I am the world's biggest camper so I want to see how viable it is.
First impressions are this game will be grief city. Once people like me learn the spawns and extracts this will not be a pleasant experience.

Early days though and ive only played solo.

I felt that way too, but the the map up north has a lot more PvP encounters

Just first impressions, but it feels mediocre
I've played for 7 hours today. Still feels mediocre. Progression is good tho', but there's too little PvP and PvE to keep me on the edge of the seat. Really feels like an old mans extraction shooter. Running and looting - the game.

Shame they don't have an Australian server for the test. They have one for THE FINALS so not really any reason they couldn't. Played a handful of matches this morning and honestly the game plays and looks great. Didn't get to test Marathon so can't comment on how that plays but this game looks much better to me from all the streams and videos I've watched.

Played it for a bit, found it quite mid. But I'm not exactly the this game's audience so I think I'm quite biased.
I enjoy the fuck out of SP Tarkov so I wish this had a pure PVE option, online extraction shooters are just not my thing I guess.
Gameplay was very meh, the lore was cool though.

No joke the one thing that attracts me the most about this game is the music, I was interested in it since I saw this teaser and this beta keeps it up with good tunes.

Now this is an extraction game. Game looks great and plays great

Marathon is trying to be a hybrid BR/Extracton/ Arena nonsense

Inventory management is garbage, gameplay is garbage. This is doa.
I said the same kind of stuff on the finals, but it has kept a solid player base to this day and the devs kept adding and refining it.

My only major issue here from what I played is that on ps5 pro there is terrible screen tearing, no v sync option so I'm assuming it's off and bad.

Inventory management on controller is slick and smooth. Bigger back pack space helps a lot.

Gameplay is quick and snappy. People melt fast. My concern here is as folks get even better guns how will that pan out? Even with the starter rifle I am melting real players.

Solo mode needs to add way more Extraction points. Like Clarky said, people are just camping them because they know someone will be there eventually. Which isn't the case with teams. Everybody is vying for like 4 extraction points when everybody is a solo. Just finished a run with 4 kills and a bunch of loot but I only had 1 extract option with 10min left

Because this looks nicer people are warmer on it, but give it a few days. This is a beast with loads of potential and just as many problems.

Played a few rounds today.

Had one really good match with randoms. All extracted after we all got downed once after escaping a rocket drone.

Also had a really fun solo run where I went in with literally nothing. Ended up escaping and letting another player live as we went down the extraction lift.

Yeah, I don't disagree. Great potential

Do you know how to dismantle your stuff? Or do you have to just upgrade your bench

everything Arc has shown feels more ambitious, fleshed out, higher quality and with a better sense of potential longevity alongside a better lore and world building.... and they didn't need a "franchise art director" and and Emmy-Oscar winning director to make and fancy artsy fartsy nonsensical CGI short.

Arc must be an AAAA game then.😬 i bet the budget of this game is substantially lower than marathon too.

Played one round. Solo because I didn't want to play with randoms. It felt nerve racking. Definitely don't see myself playing this game much solo lol. I ran into 4 people in that round. I hid and avoided 3 of them while I fought off bots in the buildings. Met one at the extract that I didn't see until I was about to get in the lift(after I had already called for extract). I fired a couple shots but didn't push and just decided it wasn't worth it. Caught the next lift but had to fight off a couple of wasps and got in. I think I was shot at by another player while it was closing but I wasn't sure. Made out with things that weren't special lol.

I somewhat became more interested in it after one round. I need to play 3 more rounds so I can get those invites for my friends and try to get a feel of whether I will end up buying this. The whole inventory thing I really don't enjoy and I move at a snails pace doing it:messenger_tears_of_joy:. I do like the sliding, it also helped me get down from high places by sliding off the side instead of going back through the building to get to the bottom. So the mechanics I think seemed pretty good in that time I played so far. Other than that, the graphics are very good outside of some textures issues at times. The audio is great too of course.

Do you have any thoughts of your own on either of these games?

Will this game do wipes?! Shroud has 1/6th of his skill tree finished after 2 days...that leans towards wipes.

Hallelujah?! Can I get an amen?!

Seriously though, no game has captured 2017 era Fortnite like this. Game is going to be big. Embark should drop this on Sept 23rd.

i literally wrote them out below the tweet which is ironic because i also said this:
the phrase "taking chances" to me is more like Devs making something they are passionate about regardless of the market/trends.

Marathon comes across like chasing trends/Publisher mandate to make the "next big thing".
is legendary drops stealing my thoughts? 😱

regarding Arc my thoughts are very simple:

You can see the distillation from Day Z to this. "this" being a game with actual game desing. it's very interesting than something that happened organically, almost by chance in Day Z has been broken down in orden to encourage a better moment to moment with better pace and direction.

I think the evolution from DayZ > H1Z1 to battle royales to extraction shooters could be a fascinating way to look at the evolution and refinement of game design.

Did they downgrade the graphics of this? Watching the first trailers and then seeing even maxed out PC, it doesnt look impressive?
Console got hit with the typical UE blur image

Played for an hour or so tonight. I enjoyed what I played so far. Funny part is it looks and feels like Battlefield meets Destiny.

Seen some hilarious interactions on Shroud's stream with proximity chat and other stuff with bot enemies. Yeah PC M/K a different ball game on this.

Hype for this has changed dramatically. Looks good. The game has a weird stretched out look but other than that, looks awesome.
