Rockstar games is the biggest example of customers double dipping. No, it is rockstar milking players, next question?
If Switch 2 has the same hardware close to a PS4 or PS4 Pro or something...good luck with that. They want the dipper money
2025: PS5, Xbox Series
2026: PC
2027: Xbox Hybrid
2028: PS6
2029: Switch 2
Something like that
What? You guys must live in an alternate reality. They are crazy to miss PC this time. I don't think they will eclipse GTA V sales records just on console. I am sure it will be close but the 360 and PS3 gen was crazy bigger than consoles today.
To this be perfect it would have a brainlet memeStep 1: witness that Rockstar always releases game on console first and ports to PC a year or two later
Step 2: wonder why Rockstar is releasing their next game on console first
Step 3: decide that the console makers are doing a conspiracy
What about the Xbox 360.What? You guys must live in an alternate reality.
PS5 has sold over 60M.
By the time GTAVI releases, PS5 will have sold around the same as PS3's overall sales...like lifetime sales. In what world was the PS3 bigger?
GTA as a franchise is bigger now than it was back then as well. It will eclipse all previous records. It's the most awaited videogame in history.
This. That double dip profit is ridiculous.This. They obviously have data that people double dip when it’s tiered
The GTA+ subscription, Shark Cash, and whatever other monetization is heading our way.Given the below, what money is left on the table?
This is a no question. Rockstar knows a majority of people who buy GTA on consoles will double dip later when the PC port releases. It's just that simple. They did it with GTA V and RDR 2, there is no reason to change it for GTA VI when their strategy clearly works. Even someone like me who has no interest in GTA beyond the sandbox potential will buy it day-1 and on both consoles and PC. Rockstar has us by the balls because no one offers what they do.
This is the real reason. Why release the game on PC day and date with consoles when they know piracy will cut into profits. If they put it on consoles first, everyone is guaranteed to buy it.As much as people insist game pirating is barely a thing, Rockstar disagrees and waits a couple years before bringing the game to pc.

I think it can happen through some dlss frame gen solution. It’s been rumoured to be able to run AAA games, and unless Xbox dies in a year it’ll run on Series S so they’ll a heavily downscaled version to iterate on.If Switch 2 has the same hardware close to a PS4 or PS4 Pro or something...good luck with that.
I didn’t even knew that happened to Capcom, I’m looking at it now, Holammer. I would imagine them paying Rockstar in cash; I honestly wouldn’t even be surprised if they are not only getting cash but also a better revenue share per unit sold like you stated. Rockstar has been doing this since GTA III back then when the series got pushed by the machine.Yes, probably; and it likely happens for NHL too.
Even Nintendo paid Capcom 6M to hold back Monster Hunter: Rise on PC, as show in the 2020 Capcom ransomware leak. In one of the few time we got a glimpse of how the sausage is made.
Question is how it works, do MS/Sony pay in cash, or do they offer a more favourable revenue share per unit sold.
Didn't know GTAnon was a thingGoing back some years I remember the original GTA coming out and it was kind of underground-ish, not too many people I know personally talked about it then. Eventually GTA II came out, me personally I really got into this game and love the multiplayer aspect of it but at the time the go to mainstream game that had this style was the Driver game. Fast forward there was a growing hype amongst everyone for an upcoming game, that game was GTA III; Unfortunately, you couldn't get it on the PC day and date like GTA II which was terrible. Obviously the game became a killer app at the time. Vice City was coming along and the hype once again was there amongst everyone but once again you had to get it on console, same with GTA San Andreas and so forth. Right now today the PC is probably the most profitable place for videogames. What's stopping Tim Sweeney from throwing a Fortnite bag of money to get GTA VI on the Epic Game store day and date as the console? In the future can a company like Tencent out bid the console makers to support in theory a platform on the PC with the GTA series day and date?
Just use denuvo. Duh.No, they don't want everyone to pirate it right off the bat
There is no proof that this is significant. Where could they get the data from? What is obvious is that people will buy it at least once regardless. I will whine about it and get it on PS5 day 1.This. They obviously have data that people double dip when it’s tiered
You don’t think they can track this to some degree? Isn’t there a 2k log in or something? There is no proof that this is significant. Where could they get the data from? What is obvious is that people will buy it at least once regardless. I will whine about it and get it on PS5 day 1.
With the recent announcement of the PS5 Pro it’s not surprising at all to see how much Sony is charging customers. They are banking on GTA 6 selling this thing. At this point there is no doubt in my mind Sony is paying Rockstar to not release GTA 6 on the PC day and date..The real question is ps6 or pc version first. My guess is the pc version then ps6 a year later. Master race eh.
Where is the receipt? Look at the context of the article you posted; it's not relevant to GTA6.I'm in here getting ready to collect some receipts, that didn't take too long.

The GTA exclusivity deal was partially a reaction to Xbox
"We were worried when we saw Xbox coming," Deering remembered. "We knew exclusivity was the name of the game in a lot of fields, like Sky TV with sports. Just as Christmas was approaching when Xbox would launch, a few of us went out to our favourite third-party publishers and developers, and we asked them, 'How would you like a special deal if you keep your next generation game on PlayStation exclusive for a two-year period?' And one of the deals we made was with Take-Two for the next three Grand Theft Auto games. At the time, it wasn't clear that Grand Theft Auto 3 was going to be as huge as it was, because it used to be a top down game.
"It was very lucky for us. And actually lucky for them, because they got a discount on the royalty they paid. Those deals aren't uncommon in industries with platforms. Including today with things like social media."

My question now is what about GTA 4 and GTA 5 for the console makers?
