Are you going to buy Assassin's Creed Shadows?

Will you buy AC Shadows?

No. But not just because of the theme and obvious wokeness. Valhalla was a HUGE slog and I only see more of the same here. Not going through that again.

It's not as bloated as Valhalla. They already said the main story is 30 hours, which is the same as Origins and half of Valhalla.

The last Assassin's Creed I bought was Black Flag, day one. I have not yet played it. So maybe? Not immediately though.

AC has been dead to me since they turned it into Witcher 3 with none of the charm.

I might buy the Black Flag remake supposedly coming later this year, but in terms of new releases Ubisoft are of no interest.

Yes, but I am hoping I dont have to wait for a few patches for it to look and perform as intended. I've had that happen way too many times this generation.

None of the above. If I buy it at all, I'll buy it in a few months for $25 like the last few Ubisoft games. If there is one company in gaming that you don't buy day 1 it's Ubisoft, it makes zero sense unless you are just starved for games.

nope, it will be on PS plus sooner or later, since all other AC title already on PS+, base on the situation it will be sooner, so i will just save my money on it

I am leaning towards getting it. No reason looking at reviews since it is now expected to dunk on the game.
but honestly I got other games to finish first

I will do the same I've done with past titles: first pay a month of Ubisoft+ to play it and then down the road, once it's discounted enough, buy it.

Fuck no. I won't contribute to Ubisoft still being a part of this industry, I want them out, gone for good. Even if they released something I was interested in, I wouldn't buy it, as I just think the industry will be in a far better place without them. Maybe I'd buy it if they went bankrupt and sold all their IP, but Ubishit gets no coin from me.

No

1) This historical inaccuracies which doesn't bother me but the tone they took after attacking people and the lengths they went to defending it claiming it was all true bugged me

2) Ubisoft usually equals buggy mess

3) Needs the internet to install the game I don't like that

The release of this game is imminent, and calling Ubisoft's development process 'rocky' would be an understatement

So far, I think I am going to wait first for reviews and see what happens before jumping

What about you papitos?

Gamefly rental for me, but yes, playing day one

I highly doubt that reviewers will dunk on this game giving the "social" aspect of it .... it probably will get at least +2 points just for that as usual. For them to dunk and not defend this game it has to be a complete and utterly mess, wich it wont be.

Still haven't started rise of the ronin.

Never tried Valhalla either. I'm kinda intrigued by shadows but I'll wait til the holidays probably when it's on sale.

Interested how this one turns out.

Preordered and day 1 holmes.

There's no other games that really fills this niche, and the last one was like a couple years ago in Valhalla. They are comfy games that you can just switch off too and do a bit of stealth.

Plus they do their worlds justice in most circumstances, Greece, Egypt, England London etc.

Most likely not. Valhalla was my pipedream AC setting and I couldn't even finish it. The new Action RPG mechanics are just stretched too thin and feel too game-ified. It's trying to work the looter shooter casino endorphins the same time it gives an atmospheric story feeling and the clashing is too much. The loot goes full horseshoe theory. There's so much of it and the differences are so little that it ends up feeling like the loot is just clutter fluff. So there really is no "loot" in the exciting sense. But you're still managing it the whole time.

Day 1. It's been a gamble ever since AC3, which was the first one that had seriously shitty bugs at launch which never got fixed. They had a good run with Syndicate/Origins/Odyssey, then Valhalla was lousy with bugs. A couple patches later, it was fine. Mirage released in good shape. I'm willing to take a day 1 chance with Shadows.

I get why Ubi the company is hated by many, they've committed so many ridiculous PR boners over the years. But when it comes to AC, I feel like people do some kind of mental gymnastics to see them as atrociously bad games. I feel like I need a professional AC hater to sit next to me while I play so they can tell me when the shitty parts happen.

I have played and finished every single mainline AC game on PC, but I haven't been excited about the last few, and Shadows is the first one where my excitement is effectively in the negative. I might still try it when it is given out on EGS or something like that, but that's about it.

Question for those with a firm "no":

Would you reconsider if the game received rave reviews and scored 90+ on Metacritic?

In terms of stealh while playing as Naoe, I think we're looking at modern Splinter Cell stuff here, all be it in Feudal Japan instead of modern world that it. Obviously, Sam could't go prone in any of the games, but the rest of the stuff Naoe can do is pure Splinter Cell Shinobi-style. Can't wait to get my hands on the game and not use any stuff which'll make stealth easier.

When you make a thread like this, is it to help you gauge whether or not to buy? I wouldn't listen to anyone other than myself personally.

I'm getting the game btw.

Nah my man, I just want to socialize with my papitos here, get to know everyone's thoughts here, that's all. In the end I always make my own decisions

Assuming decent performance/visuals on console and reviews that don't indicate a bugged ridden mess, I might just get it day one.

Would be a silly reason to get the game based on numbers. If you watch the gameplay and feel it's not in your wheelhouse, you wouldn't buy it regardless.

Example for me is Baldur's Gate. Game is not in my wheelhouse whatsoever and the high ratings it got wouldn't change my mind to play it.

You gotta know what you like. If you're on the fence then yeah definitely look at a few reviews but come up with your own conclusion.

No.
I got burnt out on AC after Odyssey i still haven't played Valhalla and i picked that up shortly after launch.
Never bothered to pick up Mirage either so this is a resounding no regardless of the controversy.
