I do think that the pendulum is now swinging back in the other direction in that some of the criticism is seeming a little silly. The puritan outrage about the violence is comical and the whole controversy about in-game shrines being smashable reeks of double standards when Rise of the Ronin did it too without a lick of criticism.

You’re right but some people have been brainwashed by that shit to the point to lunacy.

Going to do a month of Ubisoft+ to play it. I really want to play it as I've been waiting for Japanese-based AC since I beat the end of ACII's trilogy, so I would love get chance to see it. It's too bad it's been getting all of this negative press, but I blame that mostly on Ubisoft.

Pre-ordered.

I can’t decide between the ps5 or steam version. On one hand it’ll look best on my 4090 pc, but on the other hand it will be easier for me to use the Portal with a newborn and Steam Deck will look like ass if it’s ever supported.

I will, but probably not at launch.

My backlog is gigantic, if I buy it at launch, by the time I will start playing it the game will be on sale for 30 usd, ubi games gets discounts really fast...

No, for me it has nothing to do with playing as “black” samurai or how they are not “respecting” Japanese culture nonsense.

Simply I never fan of Assassins Creed series.

No.

Last AC Creed i enjoyed was Black Flag. Last AC i bought was Odyssey during a promo and was a copy pasta borefest. Valhalla was even worse with an unfinished story to sell you DLC.

Actually i have no plans to buy any Ubisoft games in the near future. Recently i played alot of Ubi games as they were part of the PS+ Extra and all they games feel like made in the same assembly line. They have some entertaining parts but they are all mediocre at best.

I don’t know how much value there is to playing a game “at launch” I played origins, odyssey, and Valhalla on sales.

Looks really good, but I almost never day one anything… Could be tempted, but hopefully not. Still taking my time with Avowed, which is absolutely great.

This Poll needed an 'on sale' option.

I already know that the game will have post-release content, as it's Ubisoft, and I'd rather spend a set amount of money on all of it at a slashed price within 12-16 months.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
No, there are many better games I have yet to play.

Question for those with a firm "no":

Would you reconsider if the game received rave reviews and scored 90+ on Metacritic?
No, these games can get 10/10 and I still wouldn't touch them because I know I dont like these type of games, I trust my own taste above any reviews or even opinions of other people on internet.

I will buy it when it hits 90% off. Only Assassins Creed I ever purchased close to launch date was Black Flag, and that's because I love pirate games.

Just you wait for review scores in a weak from now. I wonder how many of those 190 (as of right now) people will jump the ship after that with a complete 180 on their previous opinion:messenger_tears_of_joy:

I'm ready for this beautiful moment:messenger_beaming:

I know it won't affect my opinion no matter how high it scores, I won't ever buy or play anything from Ubisoft again. Just don't care for them as a company at all, and it's very easy to resist and avoid their games and still constantly be enjoying a stream of incredible titles, I miss nothing with their catalogue's omission from the hobby. Kinda speaks to the weakness of their IP management.

Yep, I know it’s a popular one to shit on here but I really like the franchise and the gameplay looks great. Really love the changing seasons and destructible environments too. Could do without some of the more brutal violence but that’s just a preference, it’s not as completely off putting as some others games. I’ll sink a lot of time into this one.

I’m also keen to support Canadian studios these days.

Fair point ma dude. But just to be clear, Ubisoft as a company imho is lightyears behind of what they used to be in the golden ages and I don't play or buy 90% of their modern games, especially after they released Blacklists (which was great).

Idk, it's just with this one I have the feeling that it won't be terrible.... Maybe I'm fooling myself here, but the gut is telling me that it's not that simple with Shadows and that everyone should automatically assume that it'll be terrible just cuz it's Ubisoft, even though I won't blame anyone for thinking like that after looking at the past 11-12 years.

The last AC I played and actually finished was AC Origins and after that I decided to say "Fuck you, I had enough!" to the whole series, cuz even though the setting, the world and exploration was great, combat was refreshing, there's so many bad design decisions there in regards to stupid af and absolutely needless RPG mechanics such as lvls and shit that made the game extremely bloated, tedious and boring (cuz you can't finish it in 30hrs) and Bayek... Ugh!:messenger_weary::messenger_confounded:

Anyway, if Shadows is bad, believe me, folks, you'll hear a lot of what I have to say about that in not so distant future.

No, i don't like what i've seen of the game so far, the gameplay, the samurai etc and because of all the nonesense Ubisoft have been doing from start to finish with Shadows to promote and sell it, i won't be able to get immersed in the time period and feel i am in feudal Japan like i did with Origin's, Odyssey and Valhalla, i'm just not interested in AC Shadows.

The gameplay and setting of Odyssey and Valhalla was honestly pretty fun at times but the story, dialog and characters are just unacceptable. Cringe, amateurish, plain badly written.

Also, the absolutely insane amount of padding with meaningless shit was unbearable, both games are at least twice as big as they need to be.

So.. No. Zero interest.

After trying out Odyssey and origins, I done with rpg style assassins creed games. As long as they are still following the same formula as those two games, I am out

I think it looks decent, but I've got 6 weeks of kcd2 left at my current pace, then I'll want something shorter and not an open world RPG, then death stranding 2 is out, then another palette cleanser, maybe then AC. And that's not even getting into the rest of my unpurchased but wanted to play backlog. Too many good games.
If it sweeps 10/10's and gets incredible reviews it'll get bumped up the queue.

No. I've fallen off AC after they've decided to ditch their storyline with Desmond in AC3. And it doesn't help that they're bloating the AC games with RPG bullshit.
That being said, I did enjoy Unity quite a lot. But it was the last AC game I have played and enjoyed.

I will definitely not be pre-ordering AC Shadows but I will be checking out the reviews and only then will I decide whether to buy the game on PC.

However, I will admit that I am personally a bit tired of the Assassin's Creed franchise as they are so formulaic at this point that I'd swear that Ubisoft has a machine in a basement somewhere which has a big red 'AC Remix' button which they press and then 2-3 years later out pops a new Assassin's Creed game!
