I'll buy it, but much later. I rarely buy games on launch date. I'm also plenty busy with my backlog already and I really take my time.

But I liked Odyssey and Valhalla, so I am interested in Shadows.

Truthfully, as much as I want to buy it at launch, it's very difficult to rationalize spending $90 for the digital deluxe edition when I can wait and get it for a much cheaper price and a more polished game.

However, given the controversy and it looking great, if it gets really good reviews and word of mouth, I may give in to FOMO, especially if the PS5 Pro version is great.

I’ll wait until the full dlc is included and on sale before purchasing. This doesn’t peak my interest enough to buy it at full price with no dlc.

Got it free with cpu purchase. I think it's one of the more interesting AC games though. Last one I got free (besides UBI giveaways) was with my microphone purchase, AC Odyssey. Got a couple hours of enjoyment out of it. Probably be the same with AC Shadows but maybe I'll get into it.

The release of this game is imminent, and calling Ubisoft's development process 'rocky' would be an understatement

So far, I think I am going to wait first for reviews and see what happens before jumping

What about you papitos?
NOPE.

It just isn't for me. 💁🏻‍♂️

I've tried almost every AssGreed, and despite liking them some, it turns into a big bland flaccid MEH 😑 for me sooner or later.

Luckily the only time I caved in and bought one was with Valhalla, finished it out of spite and salt for falling to 'gaymer yurnalizm' dishonesty, and was able to sell it for 5$ more than it cost me, so in the end I was able to rinse the sour taste of dissappointment pretty quickly with the beers I got that night, so happy ending after all. 😁🍻

Waiting for reviews, Papito. The sensible way to buy all games

Yes. I preordered the CE. I really enjoyed the last few more action RPG like Assassin's Creed games and while I'm not a fan of having two protagonists I'm still fairly confident that I'll have a lot of fun playing shadows (and ignoring the male character as much as possible).

While I haven't had much interest in the Assassin's Creed series to begin with, the very desperate fashion that Ubisoft has been operating under for the past few years makes me not want to engage with AC: Shadows to begin with.

This is before considering all of Ubisoft's PR Fuckups they've had with ACS up to to this point (so far). I'm simply going to pass on it.

Yes, because I enjoy gaming in general and like the AC series. More excited for the Black Flag Remake though.

Gonna buy it when it hits $20. There's no way its going to be better than Rise of the Ronin so i dont have high hopes.

Question for those with a firm "no":

Would you reconsider if the game received rave reviews and scored 90+ on Metacritic?
I burnt out on Odyssey not played a AC game since.

But it's possible i guess on deep sale a year or so from now, still have to play Valhalla which is in my backlog.

I understand that many open-world games share the same basic blueprint, but I would rather play something different. I've had enough of the same map icons, clearing outposts, climbing the same towers and those conveniently yellow-painted ledges with randomly dangling ropes that scream 'climb here' (the latter is not an AC staple, but still a Ubisoft hallmark), and a map filled with busywork.

Unless Ubisoft can fundamentally change the way that they develop games and update their repetitive core formula that has been spread across multiple open-world franchises (Far Cry, Star Wars: Outlaws, Assassin's Creed, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, etc.), I won't buy anything else from them.

I actually have nothing against Ubisoft as a company, I'm just tired of them churning out the same old shit and slapping a 'new' sticker on it.

Every design choice was made through an ideological lense.

Will pick it up after a few months depending on the discourse around the game. So glad to have passed up Veilguard.

Will sub for one month which is same that i did for Avatar & Outlaws (and Jedi Survivor and other games too outside of ubi ecosystem). I ended not buying these games after finishing them despite them being on sale often since so seems to be a wise move

If it reviews well, is compelling moment to moment and not full of bugs, sjw shit and microtransactions, then....

Probably, in like five years on Black Friday when it's on the PSN paired with the last three AC games I missed in a bundle for 25 dollars.

Ubisoft hired a specialist in Japanese gay literature to work with Assassin's Creed Shadows, she is an expert in gender studies investigating romantic relationships with adolescent boys....
How is that proof of what the other poster claimed? And proof there’s underage gay stuff in the game?

Day 0 pass for me. Get your ideology out of the creative process kthnx.

No proof at all, i'm sure they hired the expert in underage gay sex to consult her about the gameplay aspects of climbing towers without affecting the cloth physics of the different outfits you can use while minimizing the clipping of the sword in the back with the hat during the climbing movements.

Some people just see agenda in everything, just ignore them manabyte san :messenger_beaming:

Nope. Once its one PS+ later on down the road maybe i'll download. Not sure yet.

Its a bad recipe for me, asscreed never really appealed to me, and on top of the LOL choice to make it star yasuke? Yeah... im good xD

After the latest gameplay showing I'm considering it.

If its that same area they showcased copy and pasted hundreds of times though, I'm out.

Will wait for skill up and fightincowboy's reviews.

I think the initial shock factor of the reveal has worn off for a lot of people. I'm still apprehensive, but i'm also a sucker for anything set in Japan, so it has my interest. I need impressions first and will likely still wait for a deep sale, but i've gone from never buying to might pick it up if the reception is good.

The latest gameplay demo they showed off looked a lot better than anything they've shown so far. The stealth gameplay in particular is looking improved, sort of like a modern Tenchu that i've been asking for for years. I love what they are doing with the different seasons too.

I do think that the pendulum is now swinging back in the other direction in that some of the criticism is seeming a little silly. The puritan outrage about the violence is comical and the whole controversy about in-game shrines being smashable reeks of double standards when Rise of the Ronin did it too without a lick of criticism.

I am so in. DAY ONE! I haven't played an AC game since Black Flag and I loved those games!

As long as it retains a focus of assassinations with one hit drop kills from the shadows, developing new tools of subterfuge to sneak in and one hit kill my targets, a compelling story authentic to the day and age it takes place in with no glaring modernism takes.

I love AC games cause they aren't level grinds and damage sponge enemies trying to farm equipment for meaningless stat increases that are trying to gate the player.

So as long as this AC game are like the classic AC formula I am in!

Wait... I just read about Origins, Odysseys, and Ragnarok.

Oh shit...
