Are you interested in buying a $399 Xbox One without Kinect?

No, I already bought a PS4 in November. Maybe after a few exclusives and it drops around the $200 in a few years will I buy one.

Not anytime soon, no. Can't find enough time to play everything I want as is with the variety of machines I currently own. PS4 and Xbox One were already too similar for me to feel like an investment in both was necessary, perhaps that will change eventually but I'm more likely to put together a new PC in a few years regardless of what happens with Kinect.

Having a good gaming PC and a PS4 I doubt they can offer enough compelling exclusives to get me to buy it. Also, that price is still way too high for that machine and it's capabilities. Maybe if it had an absolutely killer exclusive line up and was $299.99, maybe. But I doubt they'd have the software that I can't get from the PC and PS4 that interests me.

The majority of my friends went PS4 this time as well. Unlike last gen. So there's that as well.

First post nails it.

I've been burned by MS too many times. Plus I want to cut down on how much I spend on games and consoles cluttering the house as I get older.

I actually don't like most of Microsoft's games anymore which is what makes it an easy decision. Never been into Halo or Forza. Not into racing games at all actually. Ninja Gaiden, DOA, Bioware rpgs - all good reasons to own xbox in the past are multiplat now. Fable went down the shitter after Fable 2.

I can never say never but at this point I think it would take a complete resurrection of the classic Rare to get me to jump in.

This is a huge issue for me. When I was younger I had a fuck ton of free time. Now I'm older and just don't have nearly as much time between wife and work. No point in having multiple consoles when I'll rarely play them enough to justify the purchase.

No... PS4 is almost the same but with better performing games. I don't care about Microsoft's exclusives, and judging from the X360, they'll drop support halfway through the system's life, besides a game here and there.

Yep, I'm a one console guy and that console is PS4. Sorry MS.

Nope. All I need is a PC and some Sony/Nintendo love.

Nope. Glad to see them listening to consumers though. I moved on from Microsoft for the time being - so perhaps down the line, assuming they keep on the right track and win back my trust.

Another one or two price cuts might do it for me. Right now I know the multiplat titles are going to look better on my ps4 so Ill get an xbone when it's a lot cheaper. Any exclusives I'm interested over there will still be waiting.

No $399 is too much for a console imo. It's why I don't own a PS4. Yeah I'll just keep playing my backlog of games on 360/wii/ps3 until Sony and Microsoft drop their prices to $299 or less.

The price wasn't the sole factor that deterred me from purchasing the xbone. Their original policies shows what kind of mindset they have for the consumer.

Neither a price-drop or their continual turnarounds on their original policies are not enough to convince me to get an xbone.

Furthermore, as many others have mentioned, there isn't enough time to play both systems.

Gonna agree with the majority of posts in this thread and say NO.

Xbox One doesn't appeal and I would have already bought one before the announcement if it did. The removal of Kinect is good but still not enough. Need more appealing games.

It would have to give me a reason to play it instead of my PC. So some badass exclusives would be the only thing that would make me purchase one.

Nope, no games. Don't bother list waring the current shit for the Xbone. I am only interested in Halo 5 and only if it goes back its to its roots.

Wait 2 years and pick up one black friday for $199 with bunch of games.

I am not going to get XBL Gold. Two annual subscriptions is too much. PS+ is doing a good job for me.

Nope, multiplayer still costs extra. There aren't any single-player experiences that interest me on Xbone, and I'd rather not bend over for a XBLG surcharge.

Already own a PS4. Would buy a xbone for the exclusives at around £200. No need to get one for any other reason, multiplatform games are better on PS4.

Not really. I already have a Wii U, 3DS, PS3, PS4, Vita and gaming PC. Sunset Overdrive looks awesome, but not ~$570 for a bone, XBL sub and game after taxes awesome.

Nope.

Nothing to do with the price drop, I just feel having a PS4 is more than enough for me (don't have much free time these last few years with work and everything).

Nope, no games out now or coming up that interest me and PS4 gets the best multiplats.

I'd probably get a WiiU if they dropped the price $100 though.

Nope. I'm done with MS. They've demonstrated a total lack of confidence and belief in themselves as an organisation - why would I support that as a consumer? How many more U-turns and changes of policy would I be expected to tolerate once they have my hard earned cash?

Even at £100 I wouldn't want an Xbox, with or without Kinect, under my TV. The Xbox brand image is toxic and not something I personally want to support.

Nah not interested. I've finally stopped feeling like I need every console. I have a capable PC, WiiU and PS4. I have a Vita and 3DS. If I got the Xbone, I fail to see where it would fit in and benefit me as a gamer. I don't see one MS exclusive either available, in production or rumored that would make me buy the console.

My views on this changed just before last years e3 with all of the BS Microsoft tried to pull. I had a few years away from console gaming during last gen, but when I picked it back up I filled out my game collection with PS3 gems I had missed. I bought them used from eBay. The thought of not being able to do that at the time, I felt very strongly against it. I stopped caring about the Xbox brand and was no longer a fan, I learned I would be okay missing out on some games. Something I previously always caved in to.

My initial reaction was, hell yeah I'm gunna get one now!

Then I was, wait I've got a PS4 and my PC actually does play games at 1080p and 60fps, so ...

no reason to buy one, at least not for a couple years, let the catalog grow, get one for cheap when the games are cheap.

I'm not. XB1 has nothing to differentiate itself from PS4 other than being noticeably weaker yet costing the same. It's a no brainer for me. They'd have to announce like Bayonetta 3, Lost Odyssey 2, give Kamiya his own studio, and purchase BioWare, Bethesda, Quantic Dream and all of their IP, announce Bayonetta 3, KOTOR 3, fund a vs game by Capcom that is essentially MvC4, and announce Street Fighter 5... all as XB1 exclusives in order for me to consider buying one over a PS4 at this point.

Probably not going to get the XB1 (maybe way down the line), but I certainly will not since I have a PS4 and multi-plat titles run/look marginally better. The XB1 would need a solid lineup of exclusives to get me to buy, and we all know that takes time.

No. The PS4 is a better, more capable machine for the same price with an almost identical library. I see no reason to own both since I don't care for MS exclusives, even if the Xbox One was a lot cheaper than the PS4.

And all the 180s and the way they just dropped their main selling point with Kinect, which they've always praised as essential for the 'Xbox experience' for many years now, show that they have no idea what they're doing and don't exactly believe in their vision as they always state. Combined with all the anti-consumer shit they tried to pull, that makes a company I don't want to support.

Not interested in the Xbox one unless it was free. Too much investment for lack of return.

Gaming is a business of "What have you done for me lately?" while past accomplishments and products give a boost to franchise/name brand, It does little for the fickle consumer.

Microsoft is a publicly traded company that ultimately has to answer to American shareholders, which are traditionally only interested in a return on investment from increased profits. If they feel that the gaming industry is too costly for the amount of revenue generated, or lost, then they will, and have pushed Microsoft into abandoning the Xbox or the spinning it off into a separate company. This in all likely-hood would result in Xbox being sold to a vulture capitalist before the next generation of consoles so that they can saddle it with debt to cash out before it goes under. (Or sold to Facebook in hopes of becoming the consumer platform for OR)

Microsoft's first party support since the fall of 2008 has been all sorts of mediocre. They have distributed/produced a number of decent titles but they have not developed anything special in a while. Fable/Halo/Forza is pretty much all they have as first party titles with a handful of Kinect-centric developers producing content for a morbid peripheral

The only thing preventing Microsoft from getting destroyed like Marvis Frazier did by Mike Tyson is their ability to buy exclusivity from 3rd party developers. As this generation matures into 2/3/4th years, the effectiveness of this strategy is bound by diminishing returns, especially when the difference in console sales worldwide would make this avenue too costly.

Titanfall didn't move the needle. Halo is a dated franchise in the era of CoD and won't move the needle. Forza is Forza and its next installment might sell hardware in the range of 3-5% of total Forza units at launch.

The only thing Microsoft can do at this point to stay relative long term is offer the Xbox One through subscription based leasing from cable/satellite providers in hopes that those who still subscribe will opt to spend an extra $15/10 (w/ & w/o Live) a month for a Xbox One Cable/Sat box. Then hope the installment rate of this method equals the PS4 installment rate and those paid for exclusive titles are bought by those with hardware.

Either that or lock down the exclusivity of a billion dollar title like GTA6. But grows slimmer with each PS4 sold.

tl:dr

The future of Xbox is too bleak for the investment. Too much reliance on 3rd party titles & bought exclusives with little to set themselves apart from Sony's offerings.

Money can help you compete artificially for only so long before the gap becomes unsustainable.

I might buy some software if the hardware was free.... might.

Something seemingly very small has started to get under my skin about my PS4 - shooters forcing me to use L2/R2 for aim and fire. It was a nuisance in Infamous, but I figured it was a one off that wouldn't be a problem again. Now it is looking more and more likely that PS4 shooters will all force this setup.

I hate this setup. It's not comfortable for me, and my accuracy is shit when using it. I do not get the same experience that I do when using L1/R1 or using default settings on an Xbox controller. I used those settings for a month between Infamous an Call of Duty, to see if I could get used to it. I tried L1/R1 after a month, and found that my accuracy shot up, and my hands felt better. For me using L2/R2 is not even an option.

I would prefer to go PS4 this generation, but not with these forced controls. I'll take an XB1, and it's worse hardware, so I can have a more enjoyable and comfortable experience.

No, but it's a step.

If they can get some good first party games that compare to Naughty Dog, I would definitely get one.

I also love Halo, so if Halo 5 returns to being actually good it defiantly helps them with tipping me to get one.
