So what is there to do in the Arma beta exactly? Do you just play MP or with bots?
Interested in checking it out but want to know a little more about before i drop the $. That and i am afraid my GTX 660 won't run it all that well.
4 Single player showcases (missions), multiplayer deathmatch modes, a couple of Co-op missions, a portion of the vehicles and weapons, the mission editor, and full mod support. So what is there to do in the Arma beta exactly? Do you just play MP or with bots?

Most of my time spent in Arma games is in the mission editor, endless fun to be had there. If you've got the time, patience and imagination then there's really nothing you can't do, Arma literally has thousands of mods, lots of which will be compatible with Arma 3.So what is there to do in the Arma beta exactly? [EDIT: Kinda of funny how the Arma vets are having trouble with the inventory/grenade key now, must be killing each other too much, haha]
Playing Co-op last night, spent an hour sneaking through the island to our objective, snuck into enemy base, I walked up to a body and pressed 'G' to look at their gear.... killed myself and two teammates. :'([EDIT: Kinda of funny how the Arma vets are having trouble with the inventory/grenade key now, must be killing each other too much, haha]
Okay, so it's not just me, but that gun can't hit anything, right? Seems like I was unloading on people from less than 30m and it would not hit anyone.- When changing uniforms, it might not update on the other players PCs, so you could look like you are running around an old uniform ( Tends to be scuba gear ) with the ( shitty ) underwater weapon.

Only big bugs I've run into though are sometimes people being ejected from vehicles for no reason. They just fall out.
So what Alpha bugs are people experiencing so far?
- My biggest problem: Sometimes you just stand up out of nowhere, at the most inappropriate times. Usually when you hit something like a rock or a create, he stands up. Man that has gotten me killed so many times already

Personally;
- As host playing any co-op mission with a handful of AIs, my FPS will suddenly tank. We're talking sub-10 FPS and tends to stay there until you restart the game.
- When changing uniforms, it might not update on the other players PCs, so you could look like you are running around an old uniform ( Tends to be scuba gear ) with the ( shitty ) underwater weapon.
- AI seeing you through anything, even the ArmA 2 AI didn't have this kind of Xray vision and we've even experienced being shot through massive boulders. Next minute they don't even care if you are there.

- Shadows for the scuba feet fins are still visible on dry land when they are hanging on the side, so it looks like you still have them on.
- Crashes under certain conditions messing around with equipment and creates. Like, we were gearing up and I dragged a Holo scope on to my gun, my game crashed. While the game was timing out for my friend he did the same, crash.
- The lowest prone position, where he's laying on his side, he starts to slide in place almost every single time for me.
- Left down and right down in the view option, for the POV hat on a joystick are reversed.
That's what I've seen so far, nothing too big and should be easily fixed much of it. Really enjoying the game.
Okay, that's what I figured. Hopefully just a bug!Me and my friend are sure it must be a bug. I mean, yes it's an underwater weapon that uses subsonic ammunition and has a short effective range - Got that. This weapon however is useless beyond ANYTHING, I've had people run 15m in front of me and it simply did not hit them. We have to use the sidearm to get some kills.
It's definitely broken.
Do they have an easy way to submit these bugs similar to what Minecraft is doing? That would be excellent.

I wonder if they will make a tutorial for this game, like ARMA II had. The controls can be a tad confusing.

If you scroll the mouse wheel you can reload with ammo that will be effective out of water. Unlike most games you need to be careful about what kind of ammo you're using in your guns also.
Never had any options of reloading any other ammo with it, will have to check that out.
You're referring to the Scuba mission right?
It will be the only option if you scroll the wheel.
No, custom missions.
I tried that hoping it would fix it, but it just seems the gun is wildly inaccurate, or bugged. Whoever created the mission forgot to add normal ammo for the gun, they definitely need to fix the subsonic ammo it should still be deadly out of water.

Edit: In the custom mission I ran, the other ammo was not available from the mouse wheel menu. I had to go into the inventory and drag the other magazine out of my bag and onto the magazine slot for it to change.
Seems my biggest gripe is still plaguing the game, the AI still have this ability to notice you even if your in complete cover.
is this ATOC graphic glitch a bug or something my GPU does not support?

Need to set ATOC to Arma 2 trees to get normal graphics
Really? They are fairly straight forward.
Yeah, hold your mouse over a 6 inch hotspot on a vehicle and hope the icon looks like a wheel and not a gun with an arrow pointing to a box... then press use. No, wait, you can't press use... you need to scroll your mousewheel in any direction to bring up a menu, then press space bar to select what you want to do from a list of commands.
Now that's some straight forward UI!
You could just scroll with the mouse wheel and click with the mouse wheel to carry out the selected action. Even a halfwit should be able to use that system and it's fast.

I just don't know what to say if you think that holding your mouse over a hotspot on a vehicle and requiring the user to scroll the mousewheel to bring up actions is intuitive.
Name one other interface in games or anything else where that convention is used.
Just because it isn't popular doesn't make it bad, works pretty damn good in my opinion.
ARMA isn't like GTA you don't just get in a vehicle.
The interface would be immensely improved with "hold use, radial wheel comes up, pick option and release".
Radial wheel? Hold to bring up? Oh god, that's your answer, a console solution? You certainly haven't played this game in any heated situation.

Crouching and prone isn't how to get those options.Everyone take a deep breath. I'm somewhere in the middle--I think that Arma's contextual menu is very flexible and easy to use (literally, scroll the wheel, select your option, middle mouse click), but, at least in Arma 2, it was far from perfect, particularly with vehicles. It wouldn't always show all options for the vehicle (all seats, Gear, etc.)--sometimes you'd have to crouch or prone to get access to certain options because of some weird detection.
EDIT: It's one of those things that I think can be improved, but I don't really know what the best way to do it would be. I don't think a radial menu is the way.
Another day, another random Sethos GIF.
