I just had a two hours blast on a Blizkrieg server, I think this is the best public ArmA experience I've ever had.

BIS Store is back up, but is only listing the Supporter edition? Hope it's just a bug, I'll buy straight from Steam if I need to...can't afford the supporter edition.

EDIT: The links for Alpha and DD editions go straight to Steam, so I guess it's intentional for now.

Steam top sellers, I posted a picture.

Nice, just saw that. Awesome.

I was watching some TDM earlier, and the improved weapon handling seem to make it an actual viable game mode to try out.

The controls for ARMA 2 really turned me off but this looks so much better. I love sandbox games and ones that give the player a ton of freedom. I hope I can really get into this.

Bought and dling the alpha off Steam right now.

This *does* come with 3 alpha invites, correct? I don't see them listed in my gifts area yet on my Steam profile.

Anyone else getting a "arma 3 alpha has stopped working" right when you start the game? I wonder if it works on Windows 8

edit: I closed a few programs and it magically worked... then i loaded those programs back up and it still works

And not a minute too soon I might add, now I don't have to turn down the radio voices as the first thing any more.

They've apparently addressed so many of my complaints that I may have to buy this sooner than I planned to.

Edit: Was the smoke being lit by the sun? That's cool if true.

Just bought the 33$ version, the Deluxe version extras didn't seem worth the difference in price (maybe if it included future DLC...)

Also, does anyone know how the finished game will run in comparison to the alpha? (slower, faster)

It is likely that performance will be improved, optimizations are usually done when a game hits Beta.

Random thought, but it'd be funny if some of the people buying it right now on Steam don't actually know what alpha really means, and they think that's actually part of the game title. Like "ARMA III Bravo Edition" or something.

Yes, that makes sense. Luckily, I've read around that the game runs pretty well for what it is (giant map, great graphics, etc.)

If someone knows that ARMA is a military simulator but doesn't know what "alpha" in software means, then I can see this happening. But they would get the full game later anyways, so it's not that bad.

We played the "Get off the island" mission. Was fun but I don't know about replay ability.

Wasteland already had a basic port before night 1 was over. Will always be good for some silly fun.

One big thing to note: the ARMA3 server filter has options for Capture the flag, team deathmatch, death match, king of the hill and a lot of other fun game modes.

The most fun I'd say we had was a king of the hill blended with a battlefield conquest style.

This is a fantastic game engine. Looks georgeous. Plays tight. Sounds great. This will be fun.

Can't wait for my 7970 BUT holy crap this game runs and looks better on my 6950 (just one) then ARMA2 ever did.

I am so terrible at this game! One thing that is really confusing me is not knowing if I am being shot at or close to death. It seems I will hear a gun shot or two and just fall over.

Hey guys, I bought the Supporter Edition last night. It took a really long time but I managed to get my payment through. I haven't received any e-mail to confirm the order or give me the code for the Alpha. I have checked my bank account and the money has left my account. I've also e-mailed Bohemia's support channel to try resolve this. I haven't heard anything from them though.

I've tried to see if this has happened to anyone else but it appears the issue was resolved in a reasonable amount of time, it's been quite long now for me. I was wondering if anyone might know anything about this? I'm just so jealous of all you guys who are playing it right now. Really bummed out I've missed out on it today.

Give it a bit of time, their store is getting hammered with requests. If the problem is not resolved in 12 hours, refer to this http://forums.bistudio.com/showthre...re-Bistudio-amp-Arma-3-Steam-key-distribution

aaaannnd bought.

multiplayer is already functional isn't it?

Multiplayer is functional but it definitely is choppier than SP from a performance stand point. From the game I played of DM lots of people were discussing the performance drop.

I cant wait till the community gets some more missions ported over. The showcases were short.

Game is tight, controls are better and the visuals are definitely improved. The frame rate is sort of hit or miss in MP though. One server I was on I was getting mid 20's and then another around 50-70. I haven't tried the SP though. Definitely excited to see this progress as it looks like a winner once they optimize and patch the bugs up.

No jelly on the screen, no arrows on the edges, this is a milsim.

After more time with it you'll learn that you absolutely can't play it like other shooters. Actual military tactics work here. There is no cover 'mechanic' but cover is essential. If you're out in the open (and not part of a bounding group) you have little chance of survival. Playing without support is a death sentence and lone wolves will get outflanked and mercilessly slaughtered.

Semi-pro tip: When you hear gunshots, listen for the supersonic crack. That indicates that bullets are flying very close to you and you need to take cover.
