I approve, as long it isn't shitty as this:

Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking with that get up. It was the early 90's ya know? I was younger then, younger and stupid.

Amanda Waller Set to Appear in New Season of Arrow

The CW's Arrow is expanding its roster with DC comic characters at an ever growing pace for the new season. SpoilerTV is reporting that the sixth episode of the season will be titled "Keep Your Enemies Closer" and will feature the debut of a new season regular, Amanda Waller! Check back here for casting on the character in the near future.

Waller has long been a "Nick Fury" type in the DCU but with a more sinister side to her work. Heading up A.R.G.U.S., who has already appeared in two episodes of Arrow, and putting together the Suicide Squad, Waller is a formidable opponent in the DCU. It's said in her debut episode she will send an A.R.G.U.S. team out to kidnap John Diggle.

The question is... classic Amanda or Nu52?

Pam Grier played Waller on Smallville. I would love to see her reprise the role, but I know that's not possible. :/

Needless to say, it's going to be Nu Waller, I'm sure. Shame too. OG Waller added much needed variety in body types to the DCU.

They'll get OG Waller and just have her do Lipo.

Cause Starling City.

Has there been any indication that Arrow will be designed to merge into the cinematic DCU? Or are they just going to do whatever the hell they want and damn the consequences of being inconsistent with the movies?

DC needs someone whose job it is to keep things consistent, so you don't get stupid shit like Abin Sur being declared by Amanda Waller as the first extraterrestrial in Green Lantern and then in Man of Steel, Superman is considered first contact.

Amell mentioned that this season DC is more of a partner to them rather than someone who just licenses stuff for them. I assume DC realised that Arrow is a pretty big hit and want to branch if off. At the same time, I can't really see it working with MoS.

Everything happening with the Flash suggests they are trying to build DCCU at least on television. Will that line up with the movies? No official word, but I'm leaning towards a yes on that.

MoS and Green Lantern aren't supposed to be in the same universe though.

Really, I think it's plausible that Man of Steel could easily act as a inciting incidence whennit comes to superpowers in a shared universe.

Nooooooooooooooooooo, please don't merge with the cinematic universe. They will kick you in the teeth with restrictions, I just know it.

Just... just leave it with Flash as the only legit powered hero. Do a Superman/Batman type relationship between Barry and Ollie.

I can see DC and Warner trying to jumpstart the shared universe since they are so far behind marvel. problem is I can see them screwing up arrow in the process.

Well the problem you have then is, say MoS happened during season 1 of Arrow. The finale wouldn't make sense cause Supes would be called in to help prevent a mass murder in the city with the two bombs. Once you introduce somepowers the villains have to step up their game too, but the problem with Arrow is that Oliver doesn't have superpowers so suddenly he can't really compete against them.

For what its worth, some of Smallvilles best episodes were when it introduced DC related characters, so i have faith... Unfortunately Arrow's attempts have been more hit or miss than Smallvilles so I guess only time will tell when it comes to expanding the universe across multiple shows.

Arrow is working in roughly real time so Man of Steel would have happened after Season 1 so Superman didn't even exist at the time. Also there's no indication that Supes could have done much anyway. It all happened in the space of a couple of hours and the major players were operating in secret for most it. Thats without getting into the whole "he was off saving people on the end of the planet".

I don't see the point of merging the CW's universe with the blockbuster movie universe. Arrow is doing good for the CW in ratings, but that's not all that great for a real network TV show. Saying it's a huge hit really isn't accurate. Almost no one who goes to see the Justice League movie or whatever would know who the fuck Amell is or who his Green Arrow is. It wouldn't help ticket sales much, if at all. Besides that, you'd have Amell acting in your huge blockbuster movie.

Since almost no one would know who the actor is or who the character is, why not introduce a new character designed specifically for the movies? You'd have to introduce him in the movie anyway. That is if they even have Green Arrow in a Justice League movie. Isn't he like one of the lesser important members?

Superman/Batman type relationship you say?

Barry would be Batman

Dear sweet merciful Jesus.

They should do a separate universe for the DC Cinematic Universe, and make that Green Arrow SuperMax flick.

I kind of agree, but DC is so far behind Marvel in setting up its characters that it seems like a good shortcut, as mentioned by someone above. Of course, your concerns are valid.

I don't know what's best anymore. WB has fucked up everything I hold dear. In a dream world I'd want Marvel Studios to handle the DC properties.

what has Marvel done that's so great anyway? the movies have been hit or miss for the most part, if anything having them all linked kind of doesn't let them breathe. they can't tell their own stories, follow their own themes, but that's just me.

Other than iron man 2 the rest of the movies stood on their own for the most part.

I think the MCU helped a lot of these characters. I bet Thor and capt. America wouldn't be considered that good if it wasn't connected to the MCU

Amell's work ethic continues to impress me

Douche Oliver is BACK

Douche Ollie is the best Ollie. He's fucking hysterical.

Master Thespian status confirmed.

Edit: Vile wig is vile.

Last weekend at Fan Expo in Toronto, Arrow star Stephen Amell held court in a Q&A session and fielded questions about everything from the behind-the-scenes production of the show’s first season to his interest in a Justice League movie.

Perhaps the most interesting thing he said, though, was that his performance as Oliver Queen was inspired by one of TV’s most notable Very Bad Men.

That would be Gustavo Fring, the character played by Giancarlo Esposito on the hit AMC series Breaking Bad.

Ironically, it came up when a fan asked him whether he’d taken cues from Justin Hartley, who played Oliver Queen and Green Arrow in the long-running CW series Smallville–a show that ended just before Arrow began.

“I’ve never seen one minute of Smallville,” Amell confided in the audience at his Q&A session last weekend. “You know what? I did take inspiration from people but it purposely was not Justin [Hartley] and that incarnation of the character. There were a couple of different characters that I watched, one of but not limited to Giancarlo Esposito from Breaking Bad.”

The pair were both on hand at Warner Bros.’s Comic Con party celebrating Superman’s 75th anniversary, and so while Amell said Esposito was nothing like Fring, the actor added that “there was something about Gus Fring that was slightly homicidal but very measured and put together and there were elements of that that I really wanted to bring to Oliver’s character.”

Arrow returns to The CW on October 9, and shortly thereafter we’ll start seeing the expansion of TV’s DC Universe with characters like Amanda Waller and The Flash.

You know, I love the final fight scene in Man of Steel. I would love to see The Flash engaged in battle with an enemy with that level of destruction and intensity set to this music:

That's a fucking baller track.

If Arrow or Flash goes down the Smallville route, I will cut somebody.

Anyone else getting the Bluray? I'll also be picking up the first Graphic Novel later this month as well. Would be awesome if they released it same day. Anyone know if Bestbuy or something will have a special edition?

Haha, copycats. Yes!

"What gives you the right? What's the difference between you and me?"

"I'm not wearing a hooded pullover."

Laurel should have said "I lost my career."

Anyhow I can't wait for Oct. 9th! Can't wait to see Ollie go nuts on them bad guys.
