"Ollie, shut the fuck up! I know that was you! I ain't even gotta look! I should send yo ass back to the island with its cold ass rain, bitch, WOULD YOU LIKE THAT?!"

WB is the worst. My dream: After a few Snyder/Goyer flops Time Warner gets sick of DC and sells them Marvel/Disney so the properties can be treated with respect.

Thats a fucking nightmare brah. The MCU is as safe and sterile as a syringe.

As safe and sterile as actually making Guardians of the Galaxy into a film.

My dream is that DC pulls their heads out of their asses and starts actually taking risks with more characters. In a just world, Bruce Timm would be given a shot to make a live action DC movie, because he has been killing it on the animated side for ages now. What he has done should be the template for how they should do the live action DC movies.

I think trying to create unified universe severly damages each movie/tv show that is incorporated into it.
I would love DC to do better in turning their IPs into live action, but not the way Marvel is doing. Especially since DC is already a lot better at adapting their properties into TV than Marvel is.

Blu Ray release is tomorrow. Hopefully it shows up on Netflix quickly after so I can catch up. Only saw random episodes here and there, but really liked what I saw.

I dunno. Marvel is giving Edgar wright, James gunn and Shane black chances to make movies

DC.... Gives the keys to their properties to David Goyer

DC looks like a joke in comparison and I don't even like marvel movies besides the iron man ones

Do you think if Marvel/Disney had their full powers - Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four - we'd be seeing Guardians of the fucking Galaxy?

Don't get me wrong, I'm over the moon that there's gonna be a Cosmic Marvel presence, but I legitimately doubt that this would be Marvel's first run into it if they had FF.

I want the movie and TV worlds merged like Marvel so I'm all for powering up the TV world. Of course, I bet there's still no top-level coordination on these types of things. The fact that Star City was allowed to be renamed to Starling City is incomprehensible to me.

In my dreams WB completely surrenders any pretense of a Marvel-styled film world. Instead, they construct a cohesive universe of television shows around DC's non super powered characters. Nightwing, the Question, Catwoman, Batwoman and even the Gotham Police all get shows with a singular continuity. They could do cross-over episodes, comic book style. Ollie could help Batwoman take down a crime boss or hop in the shower with Dick Grayson. Of course, this will never happen. Instead, we're going to get a ghetto Flash and Arrow will become a lower budgeted Smallville. But it's nice to want things.

I think Azrael would work better as a show than Nightwing would to be honest. Involving the Bat family without Batman himself just wouldn't work.

It would still be more than DC has done with their films as far as branching out. Of course, we did get Jonah Hex and Constantine movies. But Marvel, or anyone, doing a proper FF film and going nuts with it would make me happy.

I think it just saddens me because DC has killed it on the animated front for so long. Of course, there is a lot more freedom to do crazy shit on the animated side.

That would be cool. I still want a Gotham PD show.

Another example of why WB is dumb as fuck. Tracy Hickman wrote pretty damn good Batman novel titled Wayne of Gotham. Liked it and was hoping it would be a start of a new series, so I went to his website and I see this:
http://www.trhickman.com/2013/03/28/batman-buried-treasures/
Last year, I had the great joy in seeing my Batman novel, ‘Wayne of Gotham’ in print. It was a thrill to have visited so long with the Caped Crusader and I was anxious to be able to do so again. I set my heart to the task and produced an outline which I thought was a great continuation of that original story. I called it ‘Sons of Gotham’ and sent the proposal through my agent to the publishers to see if they would like for me to visit Gotham City once again.

The editor loved the proposal, DC Comics loved the proposal, and we waited to hear from the Guy at Warner Brothers who had to give their approval to the project.

(...)

They liked the proposal. They liked my original book. They thought it performed well … and therefore they decided that I COULD NOT write another Batman novel.

Why? You might ask. I asked the same thing. The reason they gave was they ‘didn’t want one author too branded to the license
.’

I mean..WTF?!

He was the executive producer on many of the direct to video movies, was he not? Thought he still had a heavy hand in it until last year or so.

Fixed. He says right there it was the WB rep who turned it down. DC was more than ready to publish his book.

Further evidence that WB has no idea what to do with DC IP (though, I wish it was the start of someone realizing that we don't need yet another Batman book, but alas).

I saw that and remembered about this show and the blurays. I've tried going back a few pages to see if there was a consensus but it was mostly spoilers.

So, Arrow GAF, how is the show? (bearing in mind I didn't care for Smallville)

Fixed. Thx :) Also..what do you mean we dont need another Batman book? Everything else besides Wayne of Gotham is just crappy novelizations of comic book arcs. This was the only one with brand new story and a good one. Not to mention it was tightly packed with ideas that begged to be expanded upon further.

Aside from all the ongoing series, Batman's always got some original graphic novel or another cooking. It's just frustrating because if WB/DC put half the effort in building their other heroes as they do into maintaining the one character who doesn't need it, they'd be sitting pretty.

That doesn't make their reason not stupid nor does it mean I don't think it sucks the guy doesn't get to write his book, mind you.

Ermm.., it's a novel. Not graphic novel. A regular plain-text novel. And there's no DC character better suited for novel series than Batman and he definitely needed it. Heck, the whole industry needed it as it was an ultra rare case of superhero novel that actually had some success.
Well..I guess Sanderson will in few days smash all the records with Steelheart, but that's not a novel about superheroes, but ordinary people killing super villains.

A flawed but pretty enjoyable Nolan-esque/Batman Begins-esque take on Green Arrow. It's much better than what little I've seen of Smallville.

I watched some of Smallville and didn't care for it either but this show is 100x better. It's basically everything Smallville did wrong (with a couple exceptions), done right. Much better pacing, much more interesting overall story, better action, and overall just more interesting characters. Like Clevinger said, it's basically Nolan Batman brought to television.

My mistake. Still, my basic point was that DC is far too reliant on Batman, regardless of media. And I don't agree with the bolded at all. I think there's a ton of DC characters that could translated to a novel series with success, just as much as Batman.

I don't think any other would have worked as well. Batman is the world's greatest detective and the normal american superhero comic format makes it pretty much impossible to truly develop this side of character. As a superhero he's uniquelly suited for a novel series because of that. Add to this the lack of superpowers and fascinating setting and you get a winning formula.

The only other character (at least from the ones that are decently recognizable) that I could see working as well as him in novel format is John Constantine, but it would be redundant considering Mike Carey's Felix Castor series is bassicaly Constantine by different name.

Was thinking the same thing about Constantine. He would still be fun in a novel.

As a very recent newcomer, it's... alright. I like it. It is really flawed, and honestly gives a very very poor first impression for the first few episodes.

Throughout, it's really cheesy at times. It's amazingly easy to see CW's fingerprints all over this this show from the complete lack of non-attractive people to the dumb relationship drama that goes on and on and on... More often than not, that also ends up being the source of characters' worst decisions and the origins of most of their problems. It's not nearly as bad as Smallville, with every episode ending with Clark looking out of his fucking barn, someone walking up, him talking about (or trying not to talk about) Lana while that fucking "It's not easyyy to beeee meeee..." song plays in the fucking background... Yeah. This show isn't that. There are also some... not so great performances. Some of them are totally fine, and even great, but for every Moira, you have a Laurel.

THAT SAID, it gets better as it goes along. The through-line throughout the series gets more interesting as the connections are made more and more apparent. The show moves at a relatively good pace. There are some likable characters that get more involved the further you go. The action is generally well-shot. By the end of the first season, while I still had problems with the show, I was surprisingly invested in what was going on and am ready for Season 2.

The CW regrets your disappointment and just released these posters to try and make up for it:

Now where the hell are the shirtless Felicity and Shado posters?!

I want to know what the deal is with this shit

Thea's actress was doing some artsy photos for... something. I can't remember. Maybe a charity or something.

Naturally, racist fans freaked out that a naked black man was cupping a white girl's boobs.

of course they did...

I thought it was a CW photoshoot for promo material, and they were trying to sell the sex-appeal of Diggle and Thea together which is... creepy

Nah.

And I think Spartacus' cast did something similar. They were selling these artsy naked pics of the cast with the proceeds going to cancer research. Or maybe I'm just thinking of Spartacus and Thea was just taking these pics for kicks.

Let's not be shy and show these guys in their full glory:

CW clearly knows their target audience. Wozzly, say something if you're okay. You need smelling salt?

OH LAWD!! This is why I watch Arrow. I need to be alone with all 4 just to make sure their muscles are ok...you know in working condition.

That Manu Bennett he just slays me.

Seconded. We need those. Desperately. Throw some Thea in there too.

I thought Wozzly's entire mid-section exploded there.

This is the best I could come up with on such short notice...

There was a knock at the door. It was loud and startled Thea Queen as she was getting dressed for her 18th birthday. “Come in,” she hollered. She was in her closet putting on her new black leather thigh high boots that her mom bought her as an early present.
The door opened and she saw it was Diggle. He had a present in his hand wrapped in colorful giftwrap. She smiled at the thought of big ol’tough Diggle taking the time to wrap a birthday gift for her. He was pacing around the room. Thea poked her head out of the closet and told Diggle he could just leave the gift on her desk. Diggle did just that, he placed the gift next to her white Nokia Lumia 920. Once she was done dressing Thea joined Diggle in the main part of her bedroom.
“What’s up Diggle?” She asked smiling at him. His arms were about to rip apart his nice fitted dress shirt. Well, as fit as can be with muscles like Diggle’s. He must have noticed her lingering gaze as Diggle was starting right at her, eyes locking.
Diggle cleared his throat and spoke, “I just wanted to drop off your present. I’ll be going I have to pick Oliver up at Queen Consolidated.” He smiled at her one last time and turned to go, but not before Thea grabbed his arm. He turned and looked at her.
“Please stay a bit. I…I could use the company.” He led him to her bed where they stood.
“Thea, I don’t think this is…” before he could finish Thea lips touched his. She could feel Diggle’s heart beating a million times a second. Their lips parted. Diggle looked into Thea’s eyes and he took his hands and placed them around her head in a loving manner and moved his head closer to hers and kissed her. Oliver will just have to wait he thought as he continued to kiss Thea.

I'm mad jelly.

Also, what's up with Ollie's huge bite marks around his abdomen?

Fess up GAF, who did that?

Slade, obviously.

I suddenly don't mind Roy all that much.

This is the best I could come up with on such short notice...
