Hey Shog. Quick question. What exactly do you do? I'm guessing character vehicle designs for a toy company? I just kind of skimmed the thread.

Well, I do everything I guess. I use to do Superman, GI Joe, Jurassic Park, and little bit of Batman action figures. And then I worked on Reboot, Beast Wars and other CG TV shows. And then I did a little bit of videogame stuff. Now I do vehicles and electronics toys for my current job.

No rest for the weary.

Wow, this thread is amazing and inspiring!

Unfortunately I am only "ArtistDude88" by name these days, as I barely do anything more than a doodle in MSpaint every blue moon anymore. AP art in high school really crushed my joy in doing artsy things, lol.

But, I feel like I should contribute something, so have an MSpaint doodle. :)

On wich Jurassic Park line have you worked?

No kidding. Still paying work is better than no work (my current position)...

Dude, with your skillz you'll find something very soon.

Some lines from second movie (well after the movie came out), and Chaos Effect, a stillborn animation line. Me and Wayne Losey (my team design lead at the time) pretty much came up with all the dinosaur designs for the Chaos Effect line (Chimeras of different dinosaurs).

Inspired by designer Rob Sheridan. All oils this time. I might revisit it later and alter it some more.

I dig all of yours, too, but would you happen to have a biiig version of this one in particular? I'd love to have it as my wallpaper.

I don't know what kind of program you were in, but don't let that get you down. I really didn't have a good experience in high school with art either. I decided in the end of my freshman year to go into the art field, and I started taking a class that summer so I could have an art each year of high school. However... They were pretty awful. Nobody in class that was actually into art, they just took the class as a required elective to get out of the way. The teacher was... less than stellar. Like the one time she cut up one of my classmate's pieces because she "thought it would look better like a stained glass." Yeah.

If you ever really enjoyed art/drawing/whatever I suggest getting a sketchbook and just start doodling. You might find yourself really taking pleasure in working again. : )

I don't have one ready at the moment, but I can get one to you later. I'll PM you it later. Any particular resolution or do you just want a really big image to work with?

DM_Uselink, very awesome! I need to go check that thread again, apparently!
Wykesie, that's a very nice gift for your brother. I hope he likes it!
He better!

Gorgeous, I really love the lightning on that one. Timo's illustrations on this page are awesome as well.

Contributing: a new portrait of a coworker.

Thats cool, I'm collecting Jurassic Park figures. Too bad the Ultimasaurus never was released.

Such a fantastic model. It looks a bit like something from Monster Hunter.

A year or so ago, I taught myself how to color comic-style to keep myself entertained. These are in chronological order, with the first four being done with the brush and manually selecting the size of it and lightening the colors. The others were done using the lasso and radial gradient.

I didn't do any of the linework for these, I just searched deviant art for stuff.

The illustration prompt was 'Warning'. I decided to do some practice illustrations because I feel inadequate lately.

And cosmic bus, you just keep making posters, those are excellent man.

Wow, very nice. I like the more-saturated look of the next to the last the most, but they all look like they'd be right at home in the pages of any major book.

Fucking fantastic. The hand is spot on. Also a really cool depth with the colours/tones there.

Great job on this, I love the way you applied the paint/ink. I'm taking a class on hands at the moment and I too can appreciate the accuracy of the hand! haha

Shazom, these are almost unreadable when you post them that big. Art on the internet really should be displayed at that size, I would recommend something like 500 by 800 pixels or relative (1000 in one direction I feel is about the maximum)

Basically, whatever you can do to avoid having the reader have to scroll.

Piece that got chosen for DeviantArts Daily Deviation! Got like 20,000 views and a ton of favorites. :)

There's a certain part that I need to fix now that everyone has been looking at it lol...

Thats an excellent piece! Well done!

btw, you should be more informative on how to contact you in your online galleries, if you were in the NYC area there might be some people who might wanna hook you up with opportunities, etc.

I guess you've seen my gallery then eh? (I don't put everything up there) You're right though. I should put my info up there...though I don't live in NY. :(

Yeah like, if you have a main blog or website somewhere else with your info then at least link to it. Part of being a successful artist is always letting people know how to reach you.

And yeah I looked you up on DA, you might have noticed somebody with my username started following you ;)

Wish more of the artists here would post links to their DeviantArt. I've got a new place with some bare walls that could use some nice prints on them. Makes me sad :(

 Thanks man!

I'm pretty crappy with that aspect, but I'm trying to remedy that by coming out with my own site soon

I keep a pretty good track of art I like on my favorites page, so its worth a look.

I also sell prints of my own work, but not through DA, just contact me personally if you'd like a print of something

I just got a Wacom tablet and these are the first 2 digital drawings I've ever done. I'm a 17 year old student, final year of high school, and taking on 2 art subjects. I'm dedicating one of them to my exploration and progression of digital art. Any tips?

Thanks, man!

The one you mentioned is my favorite. I think Colossus is what makes it and he damn well better, too -- I spent 2 or 3 hours on him alone. lol

Love that piece too, great job!

I just realized I've been posting NSFW'ish stuff, I'll just link this new one. Another oil painting I did last week.

Why hello there ArtGAF, its good to be able to post after lurking this thread for so long!

First of all - Chumps, your work is beautiful, love the minimalism in your compositions. So awesome.
DM, that painting is sweet, love the warm reflected light on her back.
Sammy, I still love your work, here and on conceptart.org (Im PHATandy from ca!)

I post loads of CA.org but it will be cool to put some stuff here, Its nice to talk to people from all areas about art.

I have a CGHub portfolio for my work.
But if anyones interested in Concept Art and just good illustration I highly reccommend both CA.org and CGhub. They are awesome sites, tonnes of great artists.

Wow Phandy, your work is incredible. I'm short on time so I only got to quickly flick through your cghub page, but everything I saw is extremely impressive. What tools/programs do you use?
