I've been lurking this thread for a while, but I've never commented before, so I just wanted to say... damn. So much awesome work in this thread. Thank you guys for sharing your work with us.
Too much quality to quote my favorites, but I needed to say to Vespa that I loved his style. Eagerly waiting for more of your stuff.

Anyway, to contribute, I've been spending the past week creating some movie posters, which was pretty fun to experiment with.

I sometimes like to think of myself as a style chameleon, but my actual default style is pretty generic or stiff and I wish it could be more.. .. I dunno.. instantly identifiable yet good. xD (None of the above are really what I like defaulting to, by the way. First type is more "quick simple generic", second type is more "try to copy Avatar", third is more "trying to remember how joodlez/juby/cutesy artists draw")

Hey guys, a few weeks ago I bought myself a Wacom Bamboo Touch Tablet, when instead I should have got a Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch.

I'm assuming that I now have to buy the whole Pen and Touch set instead of just buying a Bamboo Pen to go with my tablet since according to the description on Amazon, the Pen and Touch one is said to have "Two sensors for precise pen" but it doesn't say that for the other one, which seems to suggest the tablets themselves are different. Can anyone confirm this?

Also, is there a better tablet that you'd recommend for beginners?

Edit: There's apparently a Pen only Tablet too but it costs more than the Pen and Touch model despite the same size.

Edit2: Guess I shouldn't be posting all these questions in this thread without contributing. Here's my most recent portrait work:

$200, I'm gonna talk with my ex-GF and see if I can give you her Bamboo Pen (the one you linked to in your first edit). I bought it for her on Valentine's Day last year and she never uses it.... ever. She'd probably be pissed if I sold it, so maybe I can convince her to give it away to someone who would use it. Can't promise, but I'll ask her. I'll PM you if she agrees (still live with her until the lease is up in August... that's how I know she doesn't use it).

Thanks for your kind offer =). What I'm concerned about though is that the tablet in Bamboo Touch seems to be different to the one in Bamboo Pen and Touch so I might still have to buy the pen model.

well I would just give you the tablet AND pen. So you'd be set. It looks like there's a newer model, and it was only like $60 new so I probably couldn't sell it for much anyway.

and Arcipello.... WOW. Care to share any part of the process of how you made that? Photoshop with a drawing tablet??

Thanks again. But I live in Australia and it will probably cost a bit to ship from where you live to here. I think it will be better if I just order a new one :)

Hmm according to that page the two types of tablet have their own type of pen. It probably means the tablets are indeed different.


Edit: Turns out Amazon doesn't ship to Australia, so I bought a Pen Only model (without Touch) on eBay instead for $98...hopefully it will work out fine this time.

If you have played soccer, chances are you’ve met that one guy that has exquisite ball control, speed, finesse and has no earthly idea of where he should go or how soccer is played. That person is who The Dribbler is. The guy who anytime he has the ball goes into breakdance fight mode and does something amazing to lose the ball each and every time.

For me, I have met a few, most of them Asian oddly enough. This character is inspired by Yiyi Wang who could dribble himself into oblivion if given the chance.

Olly Moss is a great artist, and I love his designs. It's funny that you're finding my style comparable to his, given that although these posters I made are recent, I actually started experimenting with this style long before I ever saw one of his illustrations or poster. I can't deny though that it's that awesome neogaf thread on arty posters (including Olly Moss' ones) that pushed me to translate this style into these.

I totally winged it and just used my mouse (and for a short time the trackpad on my laptop) and the dynamic brushes on PS CS5.

I want to get a Wacom. The best place to drawings/ digital paintings is illustrator correct? Or is PS just fine because that is all I have at the moment.

A friend of mine wanted me to draw him something from DragonBall. I didn't want to do the same type of drawing as the previous one, so I did this one in watercolor.

I think those panels are visually very appealing but also kind of incoherent.

Is that plane supposed to be flying over the city we see in the first panel? Has the destruction of the city already taken place? The composition also suggests that the Nazi officer is inside the airplane but the rectangular window pane in the second image makes me think he isn't.

Obviously these are all things you could easily clear up on the following pages.
