not really. but she kinda hinted at it becuase i had to bus an hour and half to her place and getting back home would be a pain. when i was texting her she said no worries, just sleep with me on my bed. and then i asked her what else we would be doing and then she said not much just drinking and stuff. so i kinda put the two and two together but nope.

and everything was going smooth. pizza and wings, rum and beer, and breaking bad. as things were winding down, i was laying on her back and i turned around and asked, "hey, do you wanna make out" and she was like "oh this is a friend thing"

some of my friends told me that i made it weird when i asked that but hey, consent and everything

It's okay eventually you will find someone. I went through a pretty dry spell between like 19-22 (college years how does that even happen?) and between 23-26 it picked back up. Just timing that's all.

I never used Netflix and chill for that. I'm fairly straightforward. If I say Netflix and chill it literally means watch Netflix with the AC on high. And usually pizza.
 
All this relationship talk, speaking of which I have a movie/dinner date (the movie wasn't my idea) tomorrow, or in 13 hours from now technically, wish me luck.
 
I'm not Asian but I did marry into a Chinese family and the closest man I ever had to a father is my Wushu teacher who passed on the school to me and also happens to be Chinese. I hope I am welcomed into your thread.

I am living in Beijing for a while and I'm only in my 2nd week. I was riding the subway today and I nodded and smiled to a woman across from me. I'm the type of guy that if we meet eyes, I acknowledge you, smile and nod. Man, woman, young or old. That's just what I do. She smiled back and said hello in English. I asked if she spoke English and simple conversation started.

She asked if I had wechat, it's their allowed social media, it's all the rage in Beijing! It's like miiverse but with AMAZING video chat. When I pull out my phone the guy sitting next me started saying something. By the looks of her face and her friend next to her I can tell it's no good. I just figured the guy was saying be careful of foreigners or something so I just smiled and tried to roll with it.

He keeps talking and talking and talking, then he begins to get just a little louder. I start looking around the train and everyone's faces are in shock. People are leaning over and looking at me with these... expressions, I don't know! I didn't even try to understand what he was saying but the way people were looking at me I just started to shrink inside. On the outside I was cool and just smiled, though I could feel the discomfort setting in.

Both ladies were trying to say something to get him to just stop and the embarrassment on their faces was clear. I felt so bad for them. My stop couldn't come soon enough. I looked over at one girl down the train just staring at me with the biggest eyes ever. I couldn't bare to look at anyone else.

I got up, I said "sorry" in mandarin and I got out of there. The two ladies got of the train as well and just waited for the next one to pass. They couldn't stay on that same car with the man. I don't know what he said but their faces man! I thought one of the ladies was going to cry. To make light of the situation I just smiled, laughed and told them it was ok and that things like that happen from time to time. They kept apologizing to me saying that "Chinese people aren't like that, they are very friendly" etc etc. I asked about what he said and they would not dare to repeat anything.

When I said good bye to the ladies I could feel my lips quiver trying to force a smile. I hope they couldn't see through my facade. I was worried that If they thought I felt bad they might have felt even worse.

Just in case you are wondering I am half black and half white. I identify myself as mostly black(what ever that means) as I only knew that side of my family and I'm very light skinned. I've dealt with all kinds of jacked up stuff before but this today was different. For what ever reason the whole situation just made me feel really bad and I don't even know why. I can only guess not being able to defend myself is a reason. Not to mention my imagination is running wild about what the man could have said! It's probably not as bad as I am assuming but the people's faces! I don't want anyone to ever look at me like that again.

Just last week a taxi wouldn't take me because he straight up said he was afraid of me. I thought it was the funniest thing ever and didn't think twice about it beyond wanting to tell a funny story to friends. This however, this was different.

If I can post a pic, maybe you can tell me if I look threatening, hahaha!

Still love Beijing though!

whats a good place to go vacation solo in Asia? Had a failed Korea vacation plan that was supposed to be end of October (just recovering from a crazy relationship with a Korean girl, straight Kdrama in real life).

Taipei? Hong Kong? Japan?

Pretty much everyone in Singapore speaks english but the city isn't that huge if you want to make a long vacation. I just went there 2 weeks ago.

I would guess you will have english speakers in country in touristy places. The huge exception from my experience was Japan though.

Anyways, go to Vietnam. Best food, cheap prices, good beaches (not sure about the season though) and a lot to see.
 
Man.... Anybody got something for a sober guy to do at a party? Trying to stop drinking (sober for a month now) and it's my best friends bday. I don't know what I would do since most of the time I'm drinking and socializing (not really a social guy). Before I was an raging alcoholic, I was a shutin and just play videogames or watch movies. There's going to be plenty of drunk people and I'm pretty sure they won't be watching movies or playing videogames.

Not good at socializing sucks :(

Are they? Asian actor pool is pretty damn thin but the younger kid in the family has been on Trophy Wife and stuff before as a regular and stuff too (which was before FOB).

That being said Dr. Ken was horribly unfunny. I think there was maybe one good joke. And I still didn't laugh. It's literally the most crass and unsubtle comedy I've seen in a long while. Might even give something like Last Man Standing (99% of its fans are right wing as fuck, if that paints a picture) a run for its money.

A fucking shame, what a waste IMO.
 
Funny thing is I think I'm getting to the point in life... where I'm saying no to casual sex. :../

I thought Dr. Ken was pretty ok.

Had very low expectations and expected more stupid Asian jokes because I only know Ken Jeong from playing stupid Asian characters. I didn't think it thoroughly though. As the series target is probably the Asian viewership, they can't make fun of us in the same way.

In the end, it is just a normal family sitcom with Asian characters.

From my Singapore trip some weeks ago:

Chili crab, not a big fan of crab usually because of all the work you have to invest for the amount of crab meat you get but with the size of that thing (1,2 Kg) that wasn't really a problem. The sauce was delicious. Eating it was a sticky mess but it was well worth it.

Frog porridge, the porridge was a bit plain on its own but shined when eaten with the frog and its sauce, which was seasoned pretty well in both the spicy and milder variety.

Chicken rice from a more popular place Anthony Bourdain went to. I don't want to offend any Singaporean here but I don't think it was that special. It tasted good but I prefer the vietnamese sticky rice with chicken (xoi ga).

Truffle xiaolongbao from Din Tai Fung, this was just heavenly. I need one of those stores in my city :(
 
I'm too lazy to eat crab. Dungeness is about the limit of what I can accept. Not a fan of crab legs, so those are out regardless of ease-of-access.

Ordered some spider rolls today and I got two gigantic pieces like the two top ones, only bigger. I had no idea how I was supposed to eat that without making a huge ass mess so I pretended I was full and I asked to get the rest to go.

Devoured them when I was in the car but as predicted, it was a huge ass mess. How are you supposed to eat em? I'm kinda embarrassed to ask but w/e.

With chopsticks keke.

What I would do is bite off the extra parts and then eat the rest normally, if it doesn't all fit in one bite in the first place.

I was using chopsticks the whole time, wasn't sure if I should start using my hands to break part of it off. Honestly I need to brush up on my Japanese food etiquette. Still not sure if I should use chopsticks or hands to eat sushi.

I struggled with some of the regular pieces too. Had to do my best titan impression and open my mouth as wide as possible. So lame lol

Yeah I mean, technically it was meant for eating with hands in the first place so that's fine too. Chopsticks are just hand extensions.
