Ass Creed: Brotherhood - Multiplayer Beta Out Now

when does the beta end? seriously tempted to get plus for this...
The install says that it doesn't expire 'til 9/29/2011, so you'll be able to boot it up whenever, but I imagine they'll pull the plug on it the day before the game comes out like EA did with the Battlefield:BC2 multiplayer demo.

Don't quote me, that's just a guess. I figured they'd want as much beta info as possible so they can get a hefty patch out quickly.

The Brotherhood multiplayer mode is what got me into Assassin's Creed in the first place, actually. Played it at E3 and then bought Assassin's Creed 1 when I got home. I just finished Assassin's Creed 2 the other day. :P

Have people mentioned the graphics and performance in this thread? I haven't finished reading all of it yet. I just wanted to say that fps feels like a rock solid 30 all the time, I also haven't seen any tearing and I've been trying to make it tear with no success. I own ac1&2 for 360 and I may have to get this one on ps3.

Really digging this multiplayer mode. It's slow, methodical and refreshing.

One question though, I often see my attacker coming up on me but there's no way to stop them? Sometimes pressing the attack button works, sometimes it doesn't?

I felt the same. Was impressed with the change of pace but I don't like it anymore. I can see players and not hurt them; I should be able to kill any player. I can see my killer running at me but I can't do anything about it. It's odd and helpless.

That's good to hear. I played 2 on PS3 after having played 1 on PC, and the screen tearing was absolutely atrocious.

Sitting at an Alliance mode waiting screen, where there's a pretty big bug happening. Basically, Alliance is tuned for three two-person teams, no more. So, when more than six people join up, the game will actually sit at the waiting screen, waiting for the excess player(s) to leave the game, so there are exactly six people. The worst part is, the game never stops accepting new players, so you could be waiting for someone to leave after picking a team and persona, choosing a profile set, or even between rounds.

Round 2 update: Yep, played the first round, now I'm stuck in another loop, waiting for players to exit, there's only one or two other players left who played the first round. UPDATE: Bunch of players left, putting us below 6, so the session timed out prematurely "due to insufficient players."

Seems like a tip may be needed for folks out there, until they fix this problem: If you're joining an alliance mode game where there are already six players, please leave so everyone else can play.

Ugh, I really hate the cloning skill. It especially gets worse in Alliance mode when both of the other players have it.

How can you tell the players apart when they use that skill? It's almost a for-sure defense. Definitely unbalances the game against lower level players.

Standing in the crowd and then hitting square gives you some crazy autoaim where you hit your target nearly 75% of the time. You could also unmorph them or use a smokebomb. Actual characters react differently to smoke than AI.

You pretty much have to wait for them to do something, or go in for the counter morph. I haven't played alliance yet but I know if he's just sitting in a group of clones he's also not getting any kills. If it's a walking group it's usually going to be someone at the back or sometimes in the middle if you want to take a guess. Sometimes if you smoke bomb, the group will disperse leaving the player standing still if he's not paying attention, which gives you another way to tell sometimes. Very often I'll just wait for my own morph skill to cool down and go for the counter-morph instead of attacking at random; reason being that if you miss, you not only give him points but you also eliminate a pursuer off his tail for a little while.

EDIT: @Irish: I don't think the smoke bomb animations are any different from player to NPC (I'm pretty sure the last time I got smoke bombed a clone and I did the exact same animation), but sometimes the group will disperse (walk off in different directions) which can leave the player all alone

Full story mode that continues both Ezio and Desmonds stories, plus the inclusion of multiplayer mode so its basically AC3.

All explained and shown in a new single player preview here:

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/single-player-preview-assassins-creed/706282?type=flv

It has a ton of info in it:

  • recruit brotherhood
  • send brotherhood on missions without you
  • call in brotherhood on the fly in battle
  • horses in town

Not sure how much is new new, but a lot was new to me. I would have started a new thread, but I'm a junior.

Perhaps what is interesting to me is actually an obscure part of the features in the video. One of ACII's biggest problems was the fact that you couldn't replay the chapters without starting all over again, which created issues with the core game, as the Flying Machine trophy was missable due to it being only in one segment of the game, and I believe with the DLC, as the DLC sequences could also not be replayed after beating them, unless starting a new game.

According to the preview, in Brotherhood, sequences can be replayed to fulfill special conditions, achieving "full synchronization" as they call it, fixing one of ACII's most glaring problems.
