IS it unreasonable to believe it'll sometimes come to US non PS+ users? (perhaps a GameSpot promotion, etc?) :(

3 gig download and then a 130MB patch, will i ever get to play this fucking game :lol
Please post impressions as soon as you do though... Dont know why i dont have any faith or good expectations for this game, dont think it needs mp.

I've just played it for a couple of hours.
There are two maps, a little piece of Rome and Castel Gandolfo. There's only one game mode, which is versus, no co-op unfortunately.
Basically you pick up your assassin, you are given targets and you have to kill them. To find them you have a compass which shows you how near your target you are.
At the same time you are both the hunter and the hunted.
The game is really nice actually and they have introduced a few new elements, the disguise ability allows the player to disguise while running away from an assassin so that you can change your aspect and the assassin doesn't know who to follow anymore, the effect of course lasts for a bit and has a recharge time.
Then there are pulleys which allow players to run quickly on top of buildings and gates which get closed when you pass through them. Both the elements add a strategic touch to the game.
Technically I was a bit meh when I read that Rome was going to be the only city in Brotherhood but I have to say that this choice has allowed for a great textures and buildings variety. So the city is stunning.
I experienced no lag during online gameplay but I had a couple of freezes.

I may be able to obtain some Beta Codes for some GAFers, nothing for sure yet but if I get them I'll post them up!

Yeah dude

whatever you can do would be appreciated

You know a beta for an Assassin's Creed game is only Euro PS+ when the threads first page about it is 50% 'emo' discussion and 50% thread title comments.

Wow, colour me very, very surprised. This is the most unique multiplayer I've had in a long time. Fluid and fun. Once you have a handle on how to gauge the flow and nuance of the affair, it's fantastic fun. The platforming is less finicky than ACII, at least for me, with a great number of options available within the breadth of the mechanics for a lot of fun. Sneaking up on people for a discreet dagger-kill is quite a rush, especially if someone is zoning on you for a bounty.

This all of a sudden became a very real possibility in the day-one stakes.

Do the game mechanics make it so that it's to your advantage to blend in and sneak about? My main worry is that there isn't a solid enough set of gameplay rules in place to prevent people from just running around all over the place.

Actually, there seems to be a much greater logic and undercurrent towards perhaps the initial closing of the gap between you and your contract via rooftops, or running, but the closer you get...the better it is to slow down, or track them whilst they engage in their own particular contracts. It's very unique.

I did initially see a lot of rooftop running, but it's much more effective to lose yourself in the crowds. Makes it easier to sneak up upon your mark, but also to lose your pursuer as well.

I'm really enjoying the beta so far. It feels like playing "The Ship", but if everybody was an ASSHOLE. :lol

Yeah, I saw that too. I actually emulated the AI at one point, and continually ran into the same wall for 3 minutes. Nobody spotted me :D

HAHA...it's actually much more open and flexible than I was expecting. Assassin's Creed II didn't do much for me, feeling like a bit of an empty game despite its gorgeous trappings, but the smaller and contained maps here are wonderful playgrounds to experiment against real enemies. Very cool.

Lord, I can't remember. Short, ten to fifteen minutes. The right kind of length, too. Keeps things moving very rapidly, especially with the point tallies.

I hope I get into the beta, Assassin's Creed 2 was the only game I had fun with while grabbing all the trophies:

Sounds promising, I am cautiously optimistic about this game.

It's awesome but I'm really tired of people just running around like a headless chicken.

Btw, is there no way to mute people?

There is. Go to the menu during a game, and you should find it on an area called animus people, or something like that. I had to figure it out too :lol

mhh it's very different.
.. and you get a rush stealth killing your targets. I love toying with my enemies in games anyway.
.. but it's also kinda meh

questions:
is there a way to kill/counter/defend against your attacker? (sometimes it says circle instead of square, maybe that?)
why can I sometimes kill players that are not my target and sometimes I can't (I guess there are "teams", but I don't know how to tell who is on my side = not killable)

sound is way off.
game sound is very silent and voice chat is very loud and no option to disable it. As a solution, I plugged my headset in and leave it on the ground :P Couldn't tell what they were saying anyway, either crappy voice chat or crappy headset.
edit: ok, then there is a hidden option to mute them...

Also, after a few games you know way to well who is human and who is a NPC (especially on the Rome map as everyone is climbing etc.). I think this game(beta) needs a slower mode. If you would not have both the roles of assassin and target, you could take your time to blend in with the crowd etc. Now I just run from target to target to get more kills. As a side effect, my pursuer has to keep up with me and it's more likely that I or someone from my "team" spot him / the game goes into escape mode.

You son of a bitch Euro PSN+ users have ruined the US PSN+. >=(

Y'all complained about our content packed weekly updates, so they stopped that and now you guys keep getting all kinds of goodies while we get hardly anything at all. I hate you guys. :P

Also, Ass Creed? Really? You don't see me going around saying something stupid like "BioShit".

Is Brotherhood an actual proper sequel or a lame-o spin off title of Ass 2?
According to WikiPedia it's a direct sequel:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin%27s_Creed:_Brotherhood said:
(...)is a direct-sequel to Assassin's Creed II with Ezio returning as the main protagonist.
(...)As a Master Assassin, Ezio will have to reorganize his Brotherhood in Rome to fight against the Templars.
(...)The player will have to rebuild Rome, fallen into ruins due to the corrupted ruling of the Templars over the Papal States and concentrating all the wealth in the Vatican.

Though to answer your question more clearly, I don't think it's going to be a "proper" sequel in the sense that AC2 was to AC1, i.e. it's unlikely that it advances the story as AC2 did. I could be wrong, though.

Yeah, pretty sure it doesn't advance the overall story with Desmond, just the story of Ezio and him having to deal with the templars.

Nah, it advances the Desmond storyline some. I'm not sure how much, but they even redesigned him for the game, so I'm sure he has several key moments throughout the game.

Hm did the intro section and cant seem to find a game. Further i got is 4/6 players but its still waiting for more players eternally it seems. Been waiting 30 mins now. Tried leaving and finding a different game but nothing so far.

My mistake.

Just seen a pic of his new look...interesting. Also donning some cool forearm accessories. :D

Awesome, I was beginning to wonder when something like this would become available. Now I feel more happy with my subscription. Hopefully other devs will follow suit.

Hm, I might get PSN+ just to get in to this. Are there usually good deals for PSN+ users?

Very good, if you sign up now you'll get access to this, the full season of Sam & Max and various other goodies.

October isn't looking too good for content, but still worth signing up for early access to demos, betas, etc.

Just started downloading this. Should be done in 16 minutes if the counter is to be believed.

Now we hope and wait that Killzone 3 will get a PSN+ multiplayer beta going as well since that was the biggest reason I subscribed to this...

US PS+ member here, and pre-orderer. I got a beta code in my email this morning, put the code in during my lunch break, and it is downloading now while I'm antsy at work. It was 2804-ish mb. Not sure if the code was from PS+ or from my pre-order

Well i got into a couple of games. Its very nice and you get a leveling system and abilities too. Would be nice if there could be a way to counter the assasinations but i guess you have to spot them and maybe kill them first (dont know if this works though dont see why not). So far its lagless and quite fluid.

This sounds like a lot of fun. Multiplayer for those of us who don't normally enjoy multiplayer.

I'm thinking this and Epic Mickey are the games of the fall for me.

I really, really like the Beta!
Fresh and exciting multiplayer-gameplay.

I do hope there'll be more variety (different gametypes, maybe a co-op kind of mode versus AI?) in the full game as this will eventually get boring.

I also noticed a big boost in performance over AC2 on PS3. There's less screen-tearing and - as far as I can tell - a solid 30fps framerate. But then again, the MP maps obviously are smaller than the full singleplayer-world...

Just played a few matches.. and I would remark 2 aspects: it's very, very ORIGINAL and fairly fun. And as another gaffer said, 0 lag. You have for now 2 maps and one mode, search and assassinate, you're always pursuing someone and someone is pursuing you (it seems that there are another mode in the beta more like Team Assassination). You receive a visual clue of your target and you have a compass that guides to him (it's more like a distance indicator). You receive points for how you did the assassination, the most stealth, from behind, etc.. kill, the more points you get. If you are too "loud" closing your target, a chase sequence begins. You also are able to hide in different places, sit down, mix with the crowd (the map is full of NPC characters walking around using the same animations that you use). The game really "feels" Assassin's Creed.

About the characters, there are 8, you level your profile and it seems that you unlock 2 slots for special abilities that are triggered by L2 and R2 (I reached level 4 and I could put a "disguise" that changes my appearance or a speed boost for a limited time both, with a CD of 1 minute), and also another slots for passive perks, and assassination and death strikes perks. Also it seems that when you level up more you're able to personalize each character with their own special abilities.

IMO if they balance good enough the gameplay, and there's enough variety, it's probably one of the most original multiplayer experiences of the year

Agreed. Between this and RUSE, I think I'm set for multiplayer goodness for a long, long time! Ubisoft, say what you will about them, but they've got quite a stable of interesting titles under their umbrella.

Oh boy another beta I can't get into. Dammit, I loveddd this game at E3 and dying to play the beta.

I'll pay for a code (if that's permitted in the forums). :D

I've always hated these threads, always me not getting in and a bunch of people that get in and say, "Oh I just got in. Didn't even know what an Assassins Creed was - Ha ha! I tried the beta and it was boring, probably wont play it!". YAY thanks!
