Assassin's Creed III: Liberation |OT| VITA LA REVOLUTION

Weird, awesome characters are a key point that sells me on games o_O.

If she's a pansy or muscle for brains, i'd love to know before I cancel my preorder.

If you want to know about her personality in the sense that if she is strong or what not. Sure go right ahead.

For me one of the best aspects of a story driven game is to learn more about the main character themselves. I had no idea what Ezio was like before playing AC2 and I'm glad that I didn't.

Besides she is an Assassin. No need to worry about her being a 'pansy' >_>

Either way if someone gives you more details on her I would appreciate it if they put it in spoiler tags.

Most of gaffers impressions on AC3 so far say that game is very flawed/all over the place,it will be very weird if this ended to be the better game.

I do wish there was some info about aveline in the OT. What's her backstory?

I wanted to avoid posting too much details since people might consider them spoilers. People were even avoiding the story trailer in the story trailer thread (which you should watch if you haven't already seen it).

The original OP had much more information - a in-depth look at the locations I posted, descriptions of the new weapons and a summary of Aveline's backstory (which was fairly vague since details on the story weren't out yet). I decided to cut all of that out in the end.

I'll just say that she doesn't seem at all what I'd call a "muscle-head". She's
quite independent, and has a more strained relationship with her Mentor then the other protagonists of the series
. Then again, I haven't played the game myself, so you're better off getting less vague details from someone else.

haha true, usually i don't mind, but for this case, due to Connor from AC3 apparently not being the most favorable new character and the truth that the lead in this game is female, I'm more curious than usual :p

I'm thinking the same thing. Will be really strange if this game gets higher scores and whatnot.

It's strange- as much as critics panned Bloodlines, I find it hilarious and wonderful at times on this playthrough. Most of it is a technical mess, but there are some good standalone assassination missions. But I tend to like the series, so I'm willing to put up with a lot of it.

Still, I'm excited to see this visual upgrade from playing Bloodlines to Liberation on the Vita!

Going throw AC2 Brotherhood and wow its really a great game once you get over the initial handholding part.

So for me its is really good that AC3 was delayed for PC.

Should I even bother with Revelations? I have it but every time I try to play it I get the "eh" face.

Would I be better served just looking on youtube for the plot and key story points?

do you like ezio and altair? if so play it

Why is this so expensive in UK? I'm hoping Vita games aren't all going to be £40 in the future.

price gouging at its finest, £40 for us and $40 for US

I don't think it has anything to do with Liberation story wise.
Still a good game though.

I originally tried to play rev as soon as I completed brotherhood and got bored really quickly as its sooo similar plus an annoying tower defence game I had no interest in playing so left it at 4 hours played for months.

However I had some time to get through it this weekend and ended up really liking it. it gets a lot better after the initial 4-5 hours. You learn a lot about altier as well which was really nice.

Also I never had to do that tower defence thing after the tutorial for it as I just made sure I kept my templar awareness rating as low as possible.

Desmond stuff doesn't happen till the very end in typical AC, slow ass desmond story, style. However it is kinda important and leads to why the third one is set where it is.

Now I have gone through Rev I will do 3 on PC at somepoint but prob wait for a sale on steam. Liberation is so much more appealing as I think the assassins stories are way more interesting than Desmonds, but the fact the story is about Desmond really gets in the way of that for me.

I hope it does well and they make some other assassins stories as well on Vita based in various eras without all the sci-fi stuff.

It won't get higher scores, even if the game is better. Cuz games journalism .

That's actually incredibly true, even from the pre-release hype you know AC will score 9-10 with 'the best every refinenment of AC that almost feels like a reboot and it's in America, guyz!!!!'

Whereas Liberation will get the: 'it's a console experience on the go, so it had to be compromised somewhere and it lacks the polish of its older brother' 8-9.

My mind has trouble comprehending this, the jump from AC1 to AC2 was so awesome and I really enjoyed Brotherhood and Revelations. All the footage I saw for AC3 from E3 looked sogood too. Like the ship battle part. I have trouble imagining they went from an enjoyable revelations last year to a flawed game this year..

Apparently the game lacks focus and it's badly paced. Also all the iconic moments where you climb up high to sync or have to do a platforming level to get a piece of armour are gone. That's what I've read in the other thread anyway. Also lack of polish in some areas, but that's a given if one takes into consideration the scope of the game.

That was always the first thing I ever did, not just because it lets you see more and it's practical, but because it was so much fun to... hope it's not entirely gone.

From what I've read all the places to climb are incredibly low and you get up there in like 10 seconds. I suppose that makes sense, though, given the setting.

Yes, I remember arguing this when the game was first announced, and people argued back (at least on other forums) that early america had a bunch of tall buildings, but I guess not. They should have done french revolution after all, Europe has the architecture and buildings for it.

Man, that was what I feared when they revealed that the setting was the American revolution.

Yeah it was pretty obvious, to be honest, and only the staunch defenders of the American setting could argue that it was on par with the European or Middle Eastern settings. Hopefully Liberation 2 will be in paris (which'd be uber awesome).

I still get the idea that the American setting is really shoehorned in for marketing purposes and the series would find a better setting even in places like South America or Asia rather than colonial USA.

Is the multiplayer server online yet? I tried to redeem my online pass but it wouldn't let me.

Picked up my Asia Edition(PS3) today, it's the only limited edition available in Hong Kong, basically just the game and the statue and some pre-order bonuses, without the flag and the belt buckle you guys get with your limited edition in the statues.

It's only 10 bucks more than the standard edition, so I'm extremely satisfied and impressed with the quality of the statue.

Wrong AC thread? :p
Oops my apologies.

People seem to point out that AC:Liberation could be better than AC3 because it does not have these shortcomings? Arent they set in the same era/have the same buildings, or am I misunderstanding something here?

How does the animus thingy works this time around? Would it be Desmond again or is it someone different? Can you also play outside the animus? Like in previous assassins creed games?

Interesting read:

Quote of choice:
Ubisoft has already begun work on a Desmond-free Assassin's Creed. Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation for the PlayStation Vita stars a female assassin not related to Desmond Miles, and will release on the same day as its console sibling.

From what I gather Abstergo have created an animus for the public to relive key memories from there past, or something to that effect.

So I guess this is meant to be YOU in the animus.

That better not be a spoiler/plot twist :p

Fuckyeah Woodkid, it's awesome when a song/artist feels like it's tied to a such a franchise, even if the "Iron" one felt more epic (while the game apparentely was not lol)

Well..Assassin's Creed: Revelations is complete trash, I am not surprised that AC3 turned in the bad side too.

It seems like Assassin's Creed sequels need more development time or moving the IP to a new developer.

It's not about the setting, from what I got from impressions there are more than just climbing starting with nothing new with the core gameplay and the protagonist himself, the entire first 4 or so hours of the game being completely boring to death(Zelda TP level of bad intro), to the missions structure and the story where the american revolutionary war seems like it was shoved into the game butt just to have it there.

I still am surprised they actually try to squeeze these out yearly. I'd love to know how many/which features always get the cut (because there definitely are some) due to time constraints. Makes me wonder what these games actually could be, if given the proper dev time.

Well a slow beginning still can lead to a rewarding game, I wouldnt mind that. A boring mission structure or story would be more troublesome though.

.

Because they know they will sell millions regardless of the game's quality.

It's where the fans who keep blindly buying crap become the franchise main problem, same problem with the now tired yearly IPs with nothing new in them like Pokemon,Call of Duty,Lego crap..ect.

Pokémon is not a yearly IP. It is, if you include those spinoffs though...

Aren't the new LEGO games supposed to be expanded nicely with great open worlds etc?

I think someone posted that it's going to be 3.1GB.

...

Sometimes, even though they are not world changing, the small things can be seriously, seriously annoying. Ah well, got one day left to figure out what to delete of my mem card. Sigh.

Thanks.
