Assassin's Creed live action Netflix series announced

I have faith Netflix will produce something even worse than that 2016 shitstorm that even Michael Fassbender couldn't save.

Thanks for this. Yes, it had the potential but it was just thrown together and like you say, inconsistent. I think this was just a cashgrab for them, like I explained already in my thread. What you just wrote just enforced my belief that they wasted the story, the characters and the setting with these lame writers. The horrible voice actors and their delivery didn't help either. Shame. I really hope Valhalla will at least partially wash away the very bad taste in my mouth that Odyssey left.

for a "quick cashgrab" it was way too long in development and too big of a game. It was the team that made syndicate so that should give a rough estimation how long they worked on the game.

As i said i think it is okay to have it play out that way (after all there is some consistency with ancient greek writing being vague and very open for interpretation) but it would have been better. Was it a waste? Naw, because after all it was at least for me very enjoyable but of course it could´ve been done better. but that also only partially falls on your favorite writing person with the lovely haircut :D . When it comes to voice actors, i tried both variants and the canonical was great, both kassandra and alexios excelled in theri roles. The other way around it way a travesty and not bearable, stopped it as soon as i saw the first performance of kassandra as deimos. ALexios is just a dork as eagle bearer. But as pschopathic deimos he is excellent.

the biggest flaw of odyssey is the decision to go full rpg without having it worked out to the last corners, because that is why you get the inconsistencies. I for myself played it without the canonical knowledge (read the book afterwards) and had not the exact same kassandra but she was consistent in my playthough and i had different survivors. But they didn´t matter in the game and it led to this awkward story where you have your mother on your boat and not with your grandchild. But this only happens if you complete the main game before you play the dlc (as i did). But then if you finish aftrerwards you´ll be disapointed anyway that all you are left with are subpar lieutenant skins :D

It's a Netflix show, it'll be cancelled by Season 3 and won't be given a proper ending.

This is what comics are for in the AC universe. To finish up plotlines out of "main" entries to the franchise :D

What can I say, let's just agree to disagree. But I enjoyed this conversation anyway. Hopefully we don't have to repeat it after playing Valhalla :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Valhalla will be made by the people who made Black Flag and Origins technically as well as in writing, the music has basically the ultimate AC all star cast with jesper and sarah. So if one enjoyed the aforementioned games (i dislike black flag the most, but for one specific gameplay reason not tied to writing and such things) there is no reason to believe that valhalla will turn out differently. the team of syndicate (a game i also enjoyed very much :D ) and odyssey are making immortals fenix zelda. So i would assume the general tone of the game being different from odyssey.

edit: the thing i am excited for the most is how it will tie some of the previous games together. The AC Lore is my "guilty pleasure" :D (if such things exist, but in a sense of just a trivial "stupid" thing to enjoy and get invested in, as opposed to all the joyless tasks living as a nationless foregner in this leftist hell called (westwhite)world brings)

Spicy hot take:
The Assassin's Creed movie wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be. I actually kinda liked it.
Ditto for the original Silent Hill film. That one is actually good.
The fist Silent Hill movie was pretty good IMHO, probably the best video game-based movie I have seen. They changed the story to some extent, but their version stands on its own legs and is not too convoluted to be narrated in 90 minutes. But a lot of people, and the movie press in particular, for some reason feel the need to hate all game-based movies only because they are game-based, so it took a lot of unnecessary shit.

The sequel on the other hand was basically a list of all the things you don't want to do when converting a game to a film script (disjointed narration were everything is either seen coming a mile away or happens suddenly with no rime or reason, character motivations and personalities that make no sense, continuous revolving doors of cameos that are there only because "they have to show up somewhere" and go away without doing or adding to anything etc.).

Seems we have that in common as BF is the other game in the franchise that I hated, though far less than Odyssey.

Jesper Kyd and Sarah Schachner are doing the OST? That's awesome. I haven't heard about this yet. Tho Odyssey also had nice music, btw.

Syndicate is among my favorite entries, though it's mostly because London is my favorite city, especially if set in the Victorian era. I remember I had problems with the tone of that game as well but in the end I liked the characters and compared to Odyssey it had good writing. They just went balls to the wall bad with Odyssey.

I also really like the lore, so I hope I will enjoy Fate of Atlantis at least a bit more. I hope they left out those fucking mercenaries.
I don't really get what you mean with your last sentence btw.

Don't you think it's about time for the first transgender assassin?

that´s too 2019, the series won´t be out at least until 2021, so by that i would love to see a transcendant assassin.

the soundtrack is out on youtube for quite a while now, its great. The main theme needs a few spins but having heard it couple of times it is pure fire. Really love it and it stands out in a franchise which has always a great soundtrack and instrumentation - you have to give em that even if one hates on AC in general. The soundtracks are world class.

I like london as a city, but i disliked the victorian setting (just not my cup of tea in terms or historical periods) but while playing the game i really got sucked into it. The writing was kind of goofy at times but somehow i think it gives the game the breath of air it needs amongst marxist class warfare, child labour, smog an pollution and all those things. It was a pretty stark contrast, yes, but for me it worked pretty well. And the Kenway mansion was (although i dislike black flag because of the ship and the grind tied to it and always stalled out right around kingston and never beat the game, i watched the story play out and oin those regards its very good plus edward is a likeable and somewhat relatable character for me) great fanservice.

Atlantis DLC was great as well and it seems to me that some elements of it are being picked up (books of knowledge for example, i´d love to see there being more to it). Plus Eve was finally mentioned again, something that from all the previews i saw and what was said about the animus anomalies, that they remember people of the glyphs and truth, has a good chance to make a comeback on a bigger scale then being scattered sidequest collectibles in a dlc (those damn inconsistencies and the weird placement, pacing, etc.)

The last sentence is me being a bit whiny about how much my life sucks, nothing to bother :D

I won't spoil the songs before the game but this is indeed awesome news. Looking forward to the feels :messenger_grinning:

The games had great stories at first, then they fell off, and the movie was trash.

We'll see though. I'd like to see Jesper Kyd attached to it though now that he's back on board with Valhalla, and not just a credit for the main theme.
