Assassin's Creed Unity - Review Thread

Anyone has Uplay connection problem ?

I have got this problem when I was playing watchdog but look like they do nothing to fix the problem in ACU.

I think this is the last Ubisoft game I bought because I really cannot play it online.

Hot topic.

Maybe they can finally drop AC a bit and bring us Prince of Persia. I miss the 2008 game, the Prince and Elika... rip in peace.

I remember how outraged people were over this god awful Final Fantasy IX strategy guide that deliberately hid secrets and sections of the walkthrough unless you signed up for Square's PlayOnline system.

Now, 14 years later, Ubisoft has taken that failed and mocked model and built an entire $60 game around it.

Fucking unbelievable.

That's not a great analogy at all. those chests don't contain anything vital to the game/story.
That sounds like great reason not to include them in the game.

They're in-game ads for an app. An app that has no direct use on its own so it needs to be placed in the full game's world as a combination lock over the game's chests.

Its self destructive to immersion and comes across as cheap shilling.

Skippable? You bet.

what exactly do they do......pay real money to open chests? Because dear heavens...I'll just cancel my best buy copy, and only buy my little brother the AC bundle to turn around and sell the digital codes on here or ebay. These reviews only make me just want to get my little brother a standard X1 even if he doesn't get a free game with the console.

is the pop up companion app and all that extra bullshit avoidable? Or is it just something ppl who want to collect everything will have to endure.

It's avoidable unless you want absolutely everything. The micro transactions don't factor into the game at all, but it is a shitty practice. Th "hacking" of upgrades is only there if you haven't got enough regular currency to upgrade your items

I've had to cancel my pre-order, just not acceptable at all.
Ubisoft have become a joke, they need to let AC sit out a couple of years and make it fresh and exciting again, with a stable engine too. These tired missions that they've had for the last 7 or so games is just lazy now. It needs sorting out. Until then I'm voting with my wallet.

I loved Shay. Its like playing a little bit of Boondock Saints:) But the best part of Rogue is that finally someone says "What the F*ck are we doing?" to the rest of their clan. Its an engaging story that ties a ton of things together for me.

Thanks Karak. I really enjoyed these reviews (just saw Unity)! Much appreciated!

They are greedy bastards, you think they care at all? nope. As long as it's making money, it's 1 AC/year.
This is Ubishit, not CDPred

Only played 5 mins.

Saw the "atrocious framerate" thread, never opened it. Thought meh, cant be that bad.

After getting over the disappointment of the game immediately shoving me into a menu of scenarios instead of any kind of immersive story telling, I started a scenario.

It begins with some pre-rendered ish looking scene and omg.

The framerate.....the sync between the characters mouth and the audio. I couldnt believe.

Played about 5 minutes and there was a sluggishness i cant remember seeing in a agame for a long time....

Thought okay, still gonna give it a chance maybe i missed something.

Then im seeing these reviews. And dlc assholery....I almost bought the friggin deluxe edition.

So disappointed.

Still, ive only seen a dark and dreary five minutes of gameplay before i had to leave. Hopefully i can at least see some nice scenery in a different scenario.

People really should read reviews instead of watching score only. When you read them they are mostly positive and improvements on AC formula are visible enough. Form reviews i can see that Story was average and game is technical mess but beside that most other things were enjoyable for reviewers.

If the frame rate is really as bad as people claim, I don't understand how reviewers can give it anything above a 6.

That's like buying a car, finding that the engine cuts in and out every couple minutes and still rating it highly. Makes absolutely zero sense.

I really honestly wonder if Ubi at least notices a drop in sales. Or if this has any effects at all on sales, the fanbase, future productions etc.

I hope it does. I'm not sure I believe it does.

How the fuck can this happen ? Don't they have focus groups? Q&A ? How the fuck can the priorities of such a big franchise get all pear-shaped ? How can such a big studio be so out of sync with the audience ?

Cannot wait for the DF thread hopefully they do a comparison with the prepatched version should be interesting how much of a mess it is. Good to see some reviews reflecting the technical issues and marking it down for it.

As a 36yo gamer, i feel my time maybe coming to an end.
All this social shite and companion apps and stuff they cram into games these days really doesn't interest me and the less said about the spiraling trend of micro transactions, the better.

Where has the 'fun' gone with gaming these days?.
