My 'ohh yes' has fuck all to do with the Xbox controller and everything to do with the Lotus being included as part of the tech demo.

Thanks for posting that. Very informative. I especially liked the info that a single person was responsible for all the tracks. Gives a good idea of what's truly required in development and what's just bloated production eating money.

I didn't. Why would they want to limit the distribution like that? After talking about wanting to 'capture the mainstream' all the time...

This is tech demo, they are releasing it to test how to game runs on different computers/configurations, maybe to clean some bugs etc.. Public demo will come closer to release date and of course will be available to all :)

I knew. But it's still stupid. And the fact it's a tech demo still doesn't make any sense to me. If it's a tech demo, that should make it even more important that they discover any major hitches in particular combos. The wider the swath, the better. It seems like all this really does is make sure you're releasing to a super friendly audience and it's an echo chamber of praise.

It is a strange way of going about it. If it's not a beta test then it's not really about fixing bugs, meaning that it was entirely a waste of time/effort, particularly if they're planning to release an actual 'demo' later. And by offering it to only nKP owners it appears even more like a 'thank you' gesture rather than anything useful. I'm sure all nKP owners appreciate that, but would have preferred that they just finish the game instead... demos can wait?

But if it is useful to the devs and they're getting data and bug reports, then why not just call it a beta?

5 Euros for a great sim is a pittance to pay!

Kunos is thanking the sim community who bought their first game by giving them a chance to use the AC tech demo first with a wider release AC demo coming later. I think it's a fantastic idea.

Reading the AC thread on Race Department it appears quite a few people have been granted access to the tech demo and this was also posted on RD:

Yeah the money is no problem, just wondering how long they've spent on polishing this rather than the actual game. They said it was 'done' months ago, so this must not be the same as the current build... or is it? They have such a small team, you'd think that getting this sample ready slowed them down? I mean, even big teams often say 'no demo because we want all resources on finishing up, demo to come after release'. Perhaps it works differently at Kunos.

It's just the idea. I'm pretty sure I downloaded the demo a while ago. Do you plan on playing this game once AC is out? It seems it's instantly obsolete. It's kind of like ISI making you buy rfactor 1 to get into the rfactor 2 beta (but without all the amazing mods that would make you want to play the inferior version). I just can't imagine myself ever touching the game once AC is out. And I can't see it jumping above my que of rfactor 2, rfactor, P&G 3 in the interim.

I realize it's a douche argument since it's only like 6.50. But it's still the principle. Even if they'd charged 4.99 Euros and then gave a 4.99 voucher for the full game, I'd be more on board with that.

Not that's it's not cool to reward the old supporters. So keep that. Just come up with something more creative for people who don't want something that's about to be abandoned.

I don't really see the issue here, you can pay 5 euros for a great sim (with plenty of custom tracks and even a car or two) and as a bonus get access to the technology "demo" or just wait for the "public" demo.

They've said it many times before that the most (if not all) profits from NKP go to AC's development and most likely if a bunch of people do buy NKP for that 5e we might even get some free content to AC that might have not happened otherwise.

Yeah. I'm just being a dick. I guess I'm caught up more on the "tech" demo terminology. Because if the purpose really is to ensure wide ranging compatibility, it doesn't make any sense to lock it down like that. Should have just called it a beta.

Let's get this straight: there will be TWO demos. The first demo, a so called 'tech demo' is being limited to the fine individuals who purchased netKar Pro (which Kunos price dropped to 5 Euro). This demo is to be used to find the bugs and issues that the QA team missed in the current internal testing phase as well as being a thankyou to the people who bought nKP. A second demo will be released at a point after the tech demo and will be open to everyone.

I'm starting to think Kunos should have followed SMS and charged for people to be a part of testing. The money paid for pCARS isn't an investment as we've been repeatedly told 8)

Testing AC on our steering system as we speak.

Looks/feels good so far!

Leo Bodnar
I thought quite a few people are testing it now? I am not a very good reviewer!

We had about 20 min drive today late in the evening after a very busy day.
It feels very good but we need to play with settings to see what does what.
Feedback feels a bit rough when the car slides sideways - more like ABS.
Hitting the walls is not as dramatic as in iR. Slides can be saved.
Overall feels very pleasant and fun!

I'll hook up hardware and look at FFB data stream when I have some spare time.

Cheers
Leo

Slightly off topic but this is Leo's new steering wheel, I hope he is testing AC on it, looks bonkers :)

Dude's crazy. I love it!

I don't suppose there have been any impressions on whether stereo 3D works. I know their old games didn't have issues, but you never know these days.

Anyone know what kind of track/tyre deformation we should expect. Like standing water, rubber on road, tyre spots and that kind of thing.

Edit: I know we got aquaplaning in NKP though after being spoiled by rFactor 2. I'd be interested to see if people will take them head on.

New Screenshots!

Greenlight vote added and a positive comment made.

F40 looks sensational and a great addition to Assetto Corsa however after watching a few tech demo videos, it appears the average vehicle sounds from nKP have returned. Kunos mentioned the vehicle sounds needed reworking back in the Gamecom videos of last year after hearing SimBin's RaceRoom & hopefully this area is still being worked on.

Edit: this video sounds great - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=5N9EfbmUpA0

Anyone read about the hardware requirements for maximum eyecady whilst maintaining a steady 60fps? In one video I watched, the author stated the GTX 670 he was using maxed the tech demo graphics settings whilst holding a steady 60fps.
