Impressive figures despite game pass release.

Higher than I would've expected. Having played a bit through GP yesterday there's no way I'd pay $70 (the price in Steam's localized store in my region) for this game. But that's just me, Godspeed to those who are enjoying.

Edit: It's much cheaper at cdkeys actually.. Briefly didn't cross my mind to check.

Also another game with different critic and player opinion.

I saw someone in another thread say this game was janky. I love STALKER, is this more fantastic eurojank for me to fall in love with?

Impressive. For context:

Forspoken is listed at 12k at the highest.
Returnal at 6k.
Wild Hearts at 28k.

So it's clearly a lot bigger than those, and when you factor in Game Pass, by several magnitudes. Seems to be a hit, we will see how it fares in a week though.

Nice post. yeah this actually gives some very interesting perspective. I downloaded the game last night on gamepass and will be playing it sometime... maybe this week or next week.

Gratifying to see a game with such a strong distinctive art design getting early sales success. Will pick this up next month.

PC gamers love jank.

We're used to it. Some say we were born in it.

But seriously, it has been a couple of games recently where the user reviews really diverge from media reviews. That's the interesting part in all this. From what i gather, this game is actually really polished for a first game release from an unknown studio.

To be fair when you look at movies, user reviews and media reviews diverge all the time.

It's definitely polished. Combat is a little clumsy at times but I wouldn't say jank is a huge part of this game so far, at all.

Main complaints are a UI with text size and subtitle size made for bald eagles and owls, not human beings.

After the reviews I thought it probably won't be that good, but I'm having a lot of fun with it and it looks beautiful.

I've played about 4hrs so far and seems pretty good to me, but maybe it falls off later on. Good looking game as well.

But I've been told that Atomic Heart is a "Gamepass fodder" in another thread. NeoGAF detached from reality as per usual.

its a fun game, and unlike some certain game, it actually runs decently on all midrange hardware and does not require exorbitant memory budgets such as 32 gb ram and 16 gb vram as a baseline for 1440p

when you list a 1060 for 720p 30, and then a 3070 for 1440p 30 whereas the other game lists a 1060 for 1080p 60 fps, you will see striking differences like this

you simply cant ignore a mass market with such exorbitant requirements. either scale your game down or do not bring it to the PC platform, at all.

Yep. The only true reliable metric. Id figured out this game score was brought down by politics. Lots of negatives seen in this game are overlooked in others (like prey or metro)

LOL... dude, I gurantee you 99% of people playing don't even know who the devs are let alone where they are from.

Some of the greatest PC games of all time are jankfests.

Sue me.

It wouldn't be the Bethesda we know without jank.

Its a classic.

There's plenty of eurojank games that are beloved. STALKER, The Witcher series, Vampire the masquerade, KOTOR, etc.

You can sprinkle Oblivion music on any goddamn situation and make it funny

To add to that list - gothic, Mount and blade, kingdom come, etc.

Punished Miku Punished Miku the reason I singled out PC is because of the fact that more powerful hardware and modders have always allowed these types of games to shine as they were originally intended to. Once you remove as much of the jank (and bugs) from the equation as possible then you're left with games that are typically brilliantly complex and immersive in nature.

For what? Jank doesn't make a game bad.

See my response to Punished Miku above.

People complaining about jank yet they praise anything Bethesda…..

I smell a hidden motive 🤥

Glad to see PC gamers ain't falling for the media bias.

Can't wait to play it!

As soon as worth a buy said it was Half Life x Prey I was sold. Not been disappointed so far.

I just started this morning and I'm only through the intro. The character models look rough and are kind of janky, but the game world is spectacular and really interesting, and it seems like the game is going to be really fun. The MC's dialogue really doesn't even bother me too much.

Cool. Look forward to trying it later today.

I tend to not to put a lot of faith in early Steam reviews though.....

Jokes aside, I seriously consider that Steam review page is actually the most adequate form of product judgment that person can research online.

People simply express opinions in expense of their wallet. So majority of reviews stay as realistic as they possibly can. Excluding negligible amount of troll/joke reviews.

It's a good game with strong artistic flair, and just as important it's well-optimized. Returnal just came out and looks and runs like shit on Steam Deck. This game looks amazing on Deck running on the same engine with way better visuals. Mundfish really hit a home run with this game. The players have spoken.

Most people aren't viewing the game through the lens of politics and aren't protesting it with low scores on Steam. Some professional reviewers are review bombing it.

Don't see that happening really.
But now you can't take any and all criticism as boycotting
