ATV3 & RAW vs Smackdown...bought them a week ago and I feel ripped off...

It was my first "uneducated" purchase in a while. It was an impulse buy...usually I plan my game purchases and know a bit about the game before I pick it up...

I heard/read nothing about ATV3, and noticed that it was recently released. I loved the first (best licensed soundtrack of any videogame :)) and so I thought I couldn't go wrong with this.

The graphics took a hit, because they were trying to achieve a lot more. So the textures, size of maps, and trees are all inferior. For a graphics whore like me, it makes it unsightly to look at.

The controls are similar, with new techniques added, but something about it seems off and not as good as the first. Then I hear on X-Play that it was made by a different developer than the one who made the first two...so that kind of explains that.

The soundtrack is alright...I don't know what else to say about it.

EBgames will only give me a measly $18 Cdn for it, so I'm gonna force myself to like it. I could have bought Outrun 2, or MGS3...any other AAA title...there's tons I don't have as of yet.

So don't make the same mistake I did. Note that I made this mistake during the same time I was too busy to read these forums. Perhaps if I read these forums for initial impressions I would have avoided this situation.

I also bought RAW vs. Smackdown, and that game still has problems. The pacing is way too fast for my liking. It's basically fast forwarded wrestling. If it ran a tad slower, it would look a lot more realistic and it gives you more time to strategize. I bought it primarily for the multiplayer (bought a multitap at the same time) and it ****in sucks. During 6 player play, half the screen is full of health meters! Maybe taking my CAW, "Bloodman" online will be fun...haven't tried online for neither game. Creating an online federation with other GAFFERs seems like a fun idea...but thus far the game has been a massive dissappointment (I say massive because I could have bought other games that I know for a fact are awesome, MGS3, HL2, etc.).

Again, I could have avoided this piece of crap if I read the forums. Now I have no money for HL2, or MGS (because besides buying RAW vs. Smackdown and ATV I also bought another controller and the multiplayer adapter for the PS2). Could put that money towards a nice videocard as well...damn.

DAMN.

I thought I'd feel better after venting but now I feel worse. :(

Fire Pro: D is still the best wrestling game I've ever played. It's amazing how well-paced the matches are.

I think my favorite part of D was getting a Critical, the sprite of the downed player was just priceless. I did also like getting some Royal Rumbles going w/ MMA stars, all of wrestling's greatest stars ever, and just a bunch of different fighting styles.

I don't know if you could do this in the DC version, but in the Saturn one you can revive them by picking them up. But then one punch would knock them dead again.
